"the greatest trick the devil ever played was to convince the world he does not exist" ;p
When I was young I was told not to pray/speak my fears out loud so Satan could not use them against me. Healthy.

the gb for some reason is completely fixated on the roman catholic church (rcc).
they should just say that the rcc is babylon the great and get it over with.. the "world empire of false religion" ??
how often do they talk about muslims?
Catholics are their biggest source of conversions?
here is the text of the letter:.
february 2, 2014. .
your brothers,.
This could become a problem if the GB try to make it a big thing that they start raising constantly, perhaps make new elders aware this a task expected of them. As it gets harder to convert outsiders the GB may feel the focus needs to be to get stricter on hardening insiders and the fringe. Hopefully they'll put too much pressure on and it will all collapse.
it seems to me that this is a no-brainer but i have been out since '96.. so based on your personal experiences what do you think?.
lots more - a bit more - just the same as always - less - a lot less?.
if you think more or lots more can you spot a time or event when it started to change?.
I don't think I've been paying attention long enough to say definitively, but I think you're right. As I said in Phizzy's thread just 6 years ago I could not have named a single GB member, and I was a devout JW, I think this is impossible now for any half committed member, the GB are everywhere.
generally i go along with it when posters express pity and sympathy for the r&f jw's.
i feel this way toward them too, to a degree.. but where do we draw the line ?
we know that jw's do not have a conscience of their own really, they are told how to think and act, and they have to obey.. just as those living in nazi germany were told how to think and act, and had to obey.. but, " i was just following orders " was not taken as a valid defense at nuremburg.. as the wt descends in to becoming more and more like north korea in its do not question, simply obey !
DA'ing didn't mean absolute shunning until the late 70s/early 80s right? Does that count or is that further back than we're looking? I'm also pretty sure they've got stricter on further education.
And they do seem to go on about shunning and apostasy a lot, I can't say it's more than they used to because I've not been paying attention long enough but at least it doesn't appear as if they're generally loosening their authority.
Not to mention that about 6 or 7 years ago, whilst I was aware of the GB as a group, I and I think a lot of JWs could not have named any or more than a few individuals, but now the GB seem to appear in all the videos, hold a prominent AGM and international conventions where they all get to feature, any devout JW could name several or all of the GB. They're pushing themselves more of recent.
And finally if Adam was raised a JW in what sense is it fair to say he was never a JW?
i thought i'd share since i figured some on this forum would be interested being that the same topic has been debated numerous times here.

i wish i was able to see it but i'm assuming i'll be able to catch it on youtube or transcripts.
Ken Ham is not a scientist, he's a clown, and it's providing funding to Ken's creation museum! How can Bill think this is good for science!? Terrible idea.

I don't understand why Bill would agree to this debate, sounds like a bad idea.
religions make it appear that there is a key to happiness and give the impression that they have the key, and enjoy people always look to them for happiness!.
interestingly, jesus meant there is no key to happiness, but it is the very nature of all human beings.
(luke 17:21) people like jws did not even translate this verse properly.
I find it very odd that a thread called 'there is no key to happiness' is dedicated to explaining the key to happiness.
and it was good!!
everyone dressed differently, some casually, some smart-a real mix.i would say there were 70 or so in attendance, all ages.nice atmosphere.ladies behind introduced themselves.young couple in front also.nice songs.toys for the kids.refreshments after.had a little chat with the lady vicar, she asked if i would come again.i felt welcome but not overwhelmed.jesus focused more predominantly than at the kh.i really enjoyed it..
Plased for you Quelly. I think it's a good experience even if you don't believe, another way to expose the Watchtower's lies.
recentley i read ray franz book " christian freedom" and it occurd to me if he had lost his faith and become athiest the society would have delighted in that.
i think had ray turned athiest it would have been more easily " justified" in the mags what a " evil man he was" ....but maintaining his faith left the possibillity the society could be wrong.. .
i am athiest but i kept this to myself when i left... any comments?.
I think you're right, in the same way it may have been a good thing that he never joined another established church and held on to a few unorthodox views, such as anti-trinitarian, annihilationist etc...
