Ministerial training school for Christian couples or something like that.
It's basically the new Gilead. No marriage counselling!
has anyone heard about "couples school" at their local kh?
is that like marriage counseling?
my elder cousin was apparently teaching it?.

that's a tough one.
every man between 18-40 years of.
age have broke that law.
I think this is less about temptation and more about wishing/imagining you were with someone else. Basically, you can't claim you're righteous on the basis that you haven't cheated on your spouse if the only reason you haven't is because you haven't had the appropriate opportunity.
I don't think a glance counts as 'lustful'
i'm not i like the "happy clappy" bits and pieces in church (c of e).
it's just not me.
the local school choir came in today and did 2 songs and one was a rap song about easter.... that's so not me.. i like serious but not hellfire preaching.. any ideas where to next?
I understand. There is nothing worse than rapping in Church.
long story short, i have to go to the kh on tuesday with my mum and i havent been in at least a month now.
the reaon im going is because when i got my mum to finally let me make my own decision about whether or not i want to be a jw she made me promise that i'd go to the memorial, assemblies and if she had a talk.
she's already told me that people have been asking for me and only a few people in my cong know that i dont think it's the truth.. when i was trying to leave a couple brothers really piled on the "encouragement" and i dread to think about what it will be like when they see me again.
You really need to get yourself out of that assembly promise. Imagine 3 straight days of talks! Agony.
oh joy of joys my sad is tomorrow.. i will be taking notes, but of fallacies used, outrageous demos, contadictory statements etc.
i will share my thoughts here.
the good part of this was a cancelled midweek meeting and the fact its only one day.. .
I wonder if they'll have that demo where the brother turns down a promotion because he's worried it will interfere with his meeting attendance? I only heard that one about 8 times which was just never enough to get the point.
as mentioned in july 15th 2013 watchtower "the apostasy started in the first century and flourished by the fourth century" or words to that effect.. as i was reading ff bruce's "the bible canon" ($14 kindle ver.
on amazon) i was very surprised to read that there are no original nt documents from the first century, just copies of copies of copies of many documents from that period.
apparently the 27 book nt canon was not set until about the fourth century by trinitarian church fathers.
And those same apostates removed Jehovah's name from the NT, but didn't change any of the other parts of the bible. Makes sense.
prime example: the bible says - (john 5:28, 29) "do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."(rnwt).
the wtbts explain verse 28 this way - in every reference of this verse; w99 4/1 p. 18 par.
17 - "yes, jesus christ promised that all those in jehovahs memory will be resurrected.".
Watchtower loves to quote Rev 21:4 'and death will be no more' but actually a lesser known doctrine of the Witnesses is that people can still sin and thus die in paradise, making this promise a lie.
This is because they use both Rev 21 and Isaiah 65 as prophecies about the 'promised paradise earth' and Isaiah 65 says people will still die. A real problem for them.
hi i am new here thank you for letting me join.
i first of all want to say i am not here to bash the religion.
there are good people in the congregation but also bad ones.
According to Watchtower rules your sister is only allowed to talk to you about necessary family business and has no right to intefere in your relationship with your father as he is not a JW and they have no control over him. Since she is clearly going beyond this then a chat with a good elder, preferably one you used to be friends with, could work.
As Searcher said gathering evidence might help, however I disagree with Searcher that you should tell people you're witnessing about her hypocrisy. The way to get elders on your side is by appealing to them as 'kind people who just want to help' as this is how they fancy themselves, and not by threats against the beloved organisation/congregation.
in the uk, this sunday is mother's day!
ask a jw why they don't celebrate holidays and they'll tell you it's because of some nefarious pagan connection.
but this is really just a cover.
the other reason I was told that celebrations could not happen was if that celebration elevated a person above others or put them on a pedestal.
Creature worship! I've heard that too but I don't think the Watchtower puts that in print too much because it sounds crazy. (as it is crazy!)
Even the Society accepts that the Jews had a lot of holidays, JWs could borrow some Jewish days or invent their own but they don't because that doesn't crush your identity like nearly banning them all together.
as jws we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.. i was recently asked the question.... what is the main "idea" of the bible?.
for me the whole purpose of the bible is about control.
it features a god that punishes and rewards.
As JWs we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.
Not exactly the point of your topic but is this what the Society has said? Just interested because I don't remember hearing that.
I agree there's no one theme to scripture, but generally I think I would say the main one is about how God deals with 'evil' in the world. (But that's not to say there is only one definition of 'evil' in there either!?)
