I don't use Jehovah as much as I used to.
I feel more comfortable referring to God as my heavenly father.

The Preaching Work Is The Biggest Scam Happening On Jehovah's Witnesses!
by minimus inthe most useless work a jw can do is preach!
the watchtower society said that every baptized person, whether they be male or female, child or adult, is a minister!
and the society says every minister must do a "life-saving work" and "preach the good news of the kingdom".

My hubby would work with an elder pioneer who always found something else to do once they got to the territory. Most of the time he would deliver mags or take the opport to do a little sheparding call on someone.
When I was a kid I remember a circuit orverseer saying how much he disliked service but that he would literally force himself to do it.
I truly believe 99% of jw don't enjoy ,the service and if their fearless leaders up at Brooklyn would give them the choice very few of them would be out banging on doors.

Is Charity Utterly Incomprehensible to Them? (Dec. 1, Wt)
by metatron inonce upon a time, monty python had a sketch in which john clease portrayed.
a businessman approached for a contribution to feed starving orphans.
he appeared.

The only charity Jw understand is to give everything you own to watchtower.
At the last one day assembly the C.O. said that feeding the poor is useless because it leads to frustration in the long run.

Tonight I am sad..very sad
by fulano in.
i was thinking of our friends who were tortured and who died in the concentration-camps in germany and other countries during ww2..and that all in vane as i understand now.. i was thinking of the missionaries of age who are frustrated in their assignments, who see how their lives have gone with no reward and finally without a purpose.. i was thinking of bethelites of age, with no change to go back into real world.. i am glad i had the guts to leave missionary-work at the age of almost 40 and at least have the next 40 years a real life!.

fulano,
I wholeheartly share your sentiments. I feel the saddest for the bro and sis in Malawi who were tortured and raped and treated worse than animals, all for stupid man-made policies.
I am happy for you that you had the courage to leave missionary service. Enjoy the next 40 years free from the bondage of watchtower.
The best is yet to come

Att: ex-Elders and Their Kids: Did You Really Have a Regular Family Study?
by Room 215 infriends, this is a sort of poll, directed mainly at -- but not limited to --ex-elders, their wives and kids.
it was my impression that, with the possible exception of meaningful personal prayer, the other aspect of the idealized, exemplary jw lifestyle that was portrayed at the assemblies and at meetings-- the regular, weekly family bible study -- was the one most neglected.
it seemed to be something the ``other" spiritual family did and the one thing we constantly agreed we ``needed to work on.".

My dad was an elder and pillar in the congregation and we did NOT have a regular bible study.
My father-in-law was an elder and pillar in the congregation and they did NOT have a regular bible study.
I don't know any family that had a regular bible study. For most it was and still is today hit and miss.

Those of who are trying to get out of the Borg....
by Flowerpetal inare you still going in service?
if so, how do you present your message?
i'm sure you disagree with a lot of wt teachings, so how are you handling this?

I still go out in service for the sake of appearances.
I fake a lot of it. I only go out once a week for about 1-1/2. If I am with my hubby we pretend to knock but we don't.
If I am with others I try to use my Bible and leave the rags in the book bag.
