i was thinking of ths question the other day, and wondered if any of you here may have an answer.
why is it that spanish brothers and sisters have more zeal, than non-spanish congregations?
our kingdom hall has 1 spanish speaking congregation, the one i am in is english.
I don't believe that they are all like you describe.
The spanish cong that meets at the hall where I go is quite cold. They barely say hello to you and to each other. And I know for a fact that there is no social intermingling among themselves either.

my parents became dubs in the late 70's, after the 1975 debacle.
admitedly, my mom did have one dub relative on her side of the family but the main reason my parents became dubs was because of one influential and convincing pioneer couple who studied with them.
i know we are all mostly victims of victims but often i think of what if, what if that pioneer couple had never studied with my parents, perhaps i would have had a much better childhood and a better start to my adulthood.
Atilla,
I feel your anger. If you decide to sent it I don't believe it will do any good.
But it probably made you feel better to put your feelings down on paper.
I have written a few letters myself. I haven't sent them anywhere. But just being able to write down my frustration really relieves the bottled anger.
I hope that one day we can all look back on our watchtower experience and laugh.

does anyone still have thier old service time slips?
i still have all of mine dating back to when i first started counting my time!
i always kept a copy for myself besides the one i turned in.
I wish I had not been such a "good jw" in my heyday. Seems lots of people got away with lying on thier time!I am with you on that.
I never cheated on my time. But I knew someone who was never seen out during the month and would put down an exaggerated number of hours. I mean it was crazy. One month he put down well over 100 when every one knew he worked the whole month.
Btw, I do cheat now. At the end of the month I give a very rosy report. I make sure I fill in all the slots. And I laugh my head off as I hand it in.

I know JWs in my area that have made a feeble attempt to learn Spanish or ASL. Many are sisters looking for a new field to find husbands. Others are bored with the English congregations or looking for the Christian love they aren?t finding.
This is so true.
What always baffled me were the ones that went to the effort of learning Spanish or French for the purpose of helping these foreign congs and then turn around and go back to the English congregation. The reason being that these smaller congs were not a big enough stepping stone in their goal to climb the so called "spiritual ladder".
Thanks Blondie for whatever you can give us every week.

forgetful as i am, i just forgot the title of the new brochure issued at this summer's conventions, but it is something like "keep on the watch", and it deals with the imminent return of christ, the signs of our times, and the need for being on the watch, being prepared for the "any day now" return.. the signs of our times are mentioned, but not earthquakes, so they are "out" again, it seems.
but, the first pages make out the basis for the belief in our days being the last ones, the final ones, and 607 is mentioned, 539 and 537 - but not 1914, not the "seven times" or "2520 years".. do you remember 1995, when the "generation change" came?
in summer, the "knowledge" book was issued, and it also dealt with the signs etc., but for the first time, there was no mention of the then "present truth" that some alive in 1914 would still be alive and witness the return.
This could mean that by then 1914 has been done away with. It could. But we are not saying. All things are possible with God. But we are not saying. And don?t any of you be specific in saying anything that is going to happen between now and 2005. But the big point of it all is this, dear friends: Time is short. Time is running out, no question about that.
LOL
I hear you Freddie!!!!!

" the overseer made it quite plain..
"if i can't say i have been advised not to serve in alternate service--why are you actually doing it?
i was there to serve jehovah; consequently i was doing jehovah's will.
Very moving experience. I needed your story today..
From time to time I get so depressed for having squandered all my youth in an organization that promised me the world and left me so empty.
It's good to know that there many out there with similar life stories .
I really appreciated your effort to write your story down. I enjoyed it much.

what is everyone so afraid of?
none of these arse holes can bother you afterwards, its been great.
What is everyone so afraid of?
I happen to be one of those individuals who values family and friends. I am not afraid of being disfellowshipped, but the harsh reality is that once I would cut myself off I would also cut myself off parents and friends.
I love my family very much and so I endure for THEM.
So its not a matter of being afraid its a matter of calculating ALL costs.
