eschatological expectancy causes tiredness

an elder confesssed to me the other week that they had an elders meeting and the topic was rasied about how tired the brothers were.

he said "quite frankly, the brothers expected armageddon a long time ago and they are just exhausted".

i then enquired of him "do you think the wtbts keeping us in a permanent state of eschatological expectancy causes strain and stress and tiredness - he said yes.

Hollow" meaning that the old troopers are still carrying the JW flag and living the life, but they don't know why anymore.

This so true.

I have noticed this with my elderly parents. They drag themselves to the meetings and in service. The energy has gone out of them.

The book ANIMAL FARM has a real parallel with what is happening with many long time witnesses. When I look at my folks I think of the old animals of that book that have waited so long to be liberated. But that liberation never comes.

It is so sad.

Not an elder, but I believe that the first think you need to do to get yourself copies of Ray Franz's books

The first is CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE and the second is IN SEARCH OF CHRISTIAN FREEDOM.

These books will give you a good look at the organization from the inside. They are excellent and just present the facts for what they are. Then you can rivisit your doubts and see if every single one of them will not be resolved for you.

Do you remember when you first Googled "Jehovah's Witnesses"?

i remember when i first googled "jehovah's witnesses".

i was sick to my stomach because i feared that i was disobeying jehovah.

although i was scared that i would find something "apostate" or "demonic", i still continued to click on different links.

Yes, I remember quite well. I sat at the edge of the chair looking backwards, afraid someone would see me (there was no one in our office but me.)

My heart was pounding and subconsciously thinking that I would be struck somehow.

The first site I was on was JWRB. What an eye opener that was!

That was 2 years ago. A lot has happened since then. Most important the watchtower has lost its hold on me and they will never have it again.

jws are not mentioned in this book.

I believe I am ready for this book. It's on my list of reading material this winter.

Ever met high ranking JW and felt uneasy

this came up in another topic and feel it needs a topic of its own.

does anyone else have experiences of meeting (cant use the word 'brothers')men from high up in the borg and felt uneasy about it.. alanb wrote.

i was at twickenham many years ago (about 20) and went to the admin area to get info about serving where the need was great (great plan that turned out to be) anyway there were two elderly yet autstere brothers standing at the steps to the main office area looking as though they owned the place, they had a real air of seniority and importance about them, i have no idea who they were, yet sense they were senior one was english the other american.. .

I met Fred Franz in the mid seventies. He struck me as an odd but a pretty down to earth man.

I also met some from the local branch of my country and they seemed ok.

But in the course of 30 years I have met many DO's and CO's and felt very uneasy. Some had the knack of making you feel that you were an embecil.

I have also met some pioneers that thought very highly of themselves and didin't like being around them.

Well,

According to watchtower I am well educated:

30 years in the theocratic ministry school

30 years of reading watchtower and awake

that makes me as educated as any college or university grad.

What a farce.

This is a very sensitive subject for me. I had the opportunity to go on to university but I turned it down to pioneer. After all the end was just around the corner.

If there is anything that bothers me the most about the borganization is that IT DENIED ME AN EDUCATION.

I finished HIGH SCHOOL. In Canada high school does not get you very far.

And for any of you LURKERS FROM BROOKLYN that think that the society is not to blame go back and do your homework. Punch in education in your watchtower library and start reading. Going to school was considered practically a sin. So thanks to a bunch of old men that don't know their right from their left I don't have a good education.
