Mrs Cedars and I try an interesting diet...
by cedars ini guess no matter what country you live in, the costs of food and everything are going up.
it's certainly no different where mrs cedars and i live, and we're noticing a huge increase on our monthly spending for basic commodities - especially food and drink.. normally when we go shopping i tend to stock up on drinks - mostly beer, wine, and fizzy drinks like coke, fanta or sprite.
i tend to be quite picky with my fizzy drinks, and i can't really tolerate cheap "store brand" imitations.

Cedars, as someone said many of us in north america haven't acquired a taste for fizzy water. But its a good replacement for all the pop. In my home, we've installed a very good water purifier----so lots of ice water with lemon. Good for the palate and the pocket book :)

I didin't , but I know plenty that did. Some made up crazy excuses like: the mold is making me sick here or the carpet is too new or too much perfume.
I know of some that literally sold their home to get out of the congregation they were in. So much for the loving brodders.

Vancouver, BC. Canada (bound volumes from 1940-2000) approximately - to Give Away!!
by RAYZORBLADE ini am acting as an in-between for a good friend who is not part of this site.
his family were a century involved in the wtbts in the lower bc mainland; not to mention nw washington state.. he is no longer a member of the jw's.
we're great friends; i knew him 25 years ago, long before i discovered this site (love it simon: yes, still all those years later).. anyways, he wants to get rid of bound volumes from approximately from the years: 1940 - until - 2000.. he asked me to intervene.

Unexpected conversation with a long time JW friend (in good standing)
by OneDayillBeFree inso tonight after the meeting, this brother whome i've grown up with invited me to eat.
he had come almost an hour late to the meeting and looked kind of down and a bit depressed.
i agreed to go eat.. there was very little talking at first.

I also had a similar conversation with a long time JW friend, who confided about taking a break. It appears that many feel as your JW friend. Thanks for sharing and keep planting some seeds.

After watching a few more videos, I believe a more fitting name for the clown would be:
Anthony MORON III

Congregation Funds
by EmptyInside ini don't claim to understand anything about finance.
but,i remember about three years ago , the congregation was asked to allow the society to hold onto the savings,cd,etc, until the congregation needed it.
i forget the reasoning they gave on the matter, maybe the society would collect interests on it.

I remember that letter quite well. The body language of the bro who was reading indicated that he was uncomfortable with it. His face was beet red.
Here is what happened in this area. The congregation gives most of the funds to the society for safe keeping . The understanding was that when these funds were needed for renovating the hall, the money would be returned. (approx. 200,000)
The renovation came and went and there was no mention of the funds safely stored at the bank of watchtower. The watchtower did provide a generous loan however and there was great solicitation for funds week after week. Now the cong is saddled with a large mortgage.
What's disturbing is the fact that few dubs remember the money that was given to society for safe keeping. I mentioned it to someone and this person was clueless. Most dubs tune the meeting out and their reasoning skills are non existing.
I remember when that letter was being read- I turned to my mate and whispered " they just gave away the farm and they don't even realize it".
What a bunch of crooks the whole lot of them.
