"four legs good, two legs bad"
This was our undertone mantra at the assembly. This is too funny.
Thanks Winston
things that the wts could never get away with putting in print but have free reign to say verbally
heres my summary of the dc after recently having the veil lifted from my eyes re the wts
part 1/6
"four legs good, two legs bad"
This was our undertone mantra at the assembly. This is too funny.

please list different ways the organization attempts to control their flock.
1. You should go to bed early so you won't be tired to go out in service the next day.
2. You should get early so are alert to study.
3. You should always study the watchtower monday night the way bethel does it.
4. You should arrive 20 minutes before the meeting starts.
5. You should always buy a 4 door car (convenient to take others in service)
6. You should at least have 1 Bible study.
7. You have to go to the assembly you are assigned
8. You should go to the meetings when you are on vacation.
9. You should not drink any alcoholic beverage before meetings (new one from weekend assembly)
10. You should make at least one comment at every meeting.
Is 10 proof enough
I
my mother told me that she got a video from a sister that already went to the convention.
the entire program was recorded except for the prayers.
the sister said the society says we have to shut off the recording if the prayer is being given.
That's an old rule. When I was a kid my dad always recorded the assemblies minus the prayers. Recording the prayers was a real no no. Never did figure out why.
High priestess
this is my final and very last post after this i will not return here as someone here made something clear to me.
my faith in god and jesus christ cannot and i will not tolerate others who do not believe to attempt to stumble me or change my mind at all.
my faith stands strong and true and none of you can do nothing to change it.. gods word say "do not cast your pearls before swine".
"PUTTING YOURSELF IN DANGER BY PLAYING WITH PIGS"
Why the name-calling? Why so much anger?
Don't read what you don't like, read what you like and what upbuilds YOU.
I don't want to hurt your feelings, but you really still have the borg's mentality: its my way or the highway.
Everyone is willing to offer something. Their opinions may not coincide with yours. Thats OK.
Your opinions may not coincide with someone else's. Thats OK too.
I have personally learned more here than in all my years in the organization. I hope you stick around. But if you must go I hope that you will find a place that makes you happy.
Take care

my sister-in-law's husband was raised as a jehovahs witness in north yorkshire and was educated at home by his mother along with his 5 brothers and sisters.
i remember many years ago when it first became common knowledge, many brothers and sisters thought that this method of education was ideal for witnesses who wanted to remain separate from the world, but all the kids from our congregatation had a state education.
i guess my question is, was home education only limited to my in-laws husbands family, or were any of you educated at home?
there are no statistics that I ever read that prove that home schooled children do better that public school children.
In Canada the curriculum is now very sophisticated . Its not just about the 3R' s, so if one chooses to homeschool they should be well qualified.
I know of some Jw's who are high school drop outs , but choose to homeschool their children. Some don't even follow a curriculum. They study the meeting parts with their children and time spent in service is considered a field trip.
I wonder what kind of employment a child educated like this will find.
I guess they could always find a cleaning job. Jw's seem to do those jobs quite well.
just got back from the three-day convention.
some have posted notes here already.
this was my first convention as an apostate as i have just awoken to the wts a couple of weeks ago.
Winston,
I was at the international convention in michigan. This was also the first big assembly where I truly analized every talk.
On this board I have often heard how wt puts Christ aside. This fact hit me like a ton of bricks at this assembly. In 4 days there was little mention of him. One talk on Sat. was intitled "Cultivating a christlike view of greatness". This talk mainly talked of positions in the congregation, nothing of substance.
There were 3 governing body members: Barr, Larson, and Sidlyk. These were the real celebrities and honoured ones. The flashes from cameras were blinding.
I thought an expression in the very first talk sums it all up for Jw. The speaker said:
"It's not about remembering, its about following direction".
My hubby (apocalypse) is compiling a few precious tidbits from this assembly to share with all.
.
just wondering if anyone was there today or yesterday and if so which section were you sitting in.
aztec,
Thanks for the invitation. I would have loved to meet you. But I managed to weasel out of Sunday. So I wont be going over to Pontiac.
Two days of assembly is all I can manage to tolerate. I used to cry for joy at assemblies but now that my eyes are finally wide open I was crying because I wanted out of there so bad.

had dinner in a resto with a dub friend.
he told me the bros were very very concerned about the latest court proceedings concerning blainville.
seems the wt thinks it might lose.
I don't think I will be praying for 'J's blessing on the Blainville case'. I have better things to pray about. I hope wt loses and hope that other municipalities will follow suit.
Yes! Because 'THUS SAYETH THE GOVERNING BODY'
