Is there a reason to remain a JW other than for family?
by cedars inthis strikes me as an important question.
in my short time on this forum it strikes me that many contributors are quite open about keeping a foot in both camps.
some are apparently even elders, serving in positions of authority within their respective congregations.

AAWA needs to get rid of its arrogance.

Having children is bad
by dissonance_resolved inwent to the weeknight meeting this week for the first time in a long while.
the study was all about how having children was ill-advised in this time of the end- the comments dwelled on what a burden children are, how you can spend more time in the ministry without children, and look what they did in jerusalem- they cannabilized their own children!
it's going to be so horrible to watch our children suffer during the great tribulation!

Dissonance: I was thinking the same thing this week--not only bashing having children but glorifying those that stay single.
Littlerock guy: I remember that talk in 1987. I can still hear the booming voice of the speaker howling about"responsible procreation". I was married soon after and hubby and I decided that we weren't going to have any kids. I almost didn't . I am so grateful that 'accidents' happen or else we would be childless.

Some friday morning reflections
by Gorbatchov injust reading all the aawa related topics this morning and it makes me really sad.
i'm not related to aawa, just a fader in western europe and a longtime member of h2o and later on jwd.. it makes me sad to see what's the legacy of the watchtower society religion: kgb style betrayal of family members, making screenshots of facebook group members, just to betray their christian brother and sister to the elders, to interrogate them, try to confess their faults and correct them aggressively.
this behaviour places our religion definitly at the dark pages of history.. it makes me sad to see that some group of good peope, forming an association, then some things going wrong with the important and sacred topic named privacy.

well said Gorby. Personally after been within the bonds of a organization for 40 years, "having the freedom to chose the path I want to take" as you say, is very important to me. The thought of being associated with any group is not appealing.

New JWStruggle Video - "INDEPENDENCE- Subtle Trap of Satan?"
by RayPublisher inyes the wt has been warning us about this evil, insidious way of thinking for many years.
it has been described as a form of haughtiness, a form of pride, a subtle form of satanic propaganda.
oh my that sounds pretty scary... .

Governing Body Hates Higher Education Because It Destroys Their Delusion
by frankiespeakin inin an effort to keep their delusion alive it is only natural for them hate something that lifts the vails of their delusion and lay it barren.
their hate is transfered to the faithful rank and file and manifested in their forbidding it to the young who will surely see the ignorance of their delusion.
narcissistic delusions of divine appointment are resisted at the expense of the young.. they hate higher education to the same extent they hate psychiatry because both tread on their delusion and identify it in clear terms..

They used to blabber that if one read the watchtower and awake for six months- it was equivalent to a college education.

I am not sure either why they demonize education. The instructions are pretty specific too. For example according to one of BOE letters, a "bachelor" is viewed as higher education and unnecessary. Any one who defies this cannot be appointed to any of their position.
