I also don't believe in hellfire, although I can see why people do. The Bible is confusing that way, know what I mean?
I guess I don't believe in the doctrines, but I do believe in a lot of the morals.

are there any teachings from your jw days you still hold to or at the very least have a soft spot for?

father wrote detailed incest diary.
av: carin pettersson 09. jul 15:16. .
from the time the girl was a newborn until she was fifteen, she endured systematic sexual abuse from her own father - something he carefully logged in his computer diary.. .

the primary reason that i left the jw religion is because i realized that there was no conclusive proof that there is a god.
after i started freely thinking on my own i was able to see many other hypocritical and unreasonable practices and actions of this religion.
jw are always pointing out these things in other religions and it is true that other organized religions at time have unreasonable and/or hypocritical practices and judgemental beliefs or doctrines.
Maxwell,
I agree that religion has done a lot of good, and continues to do good in many areas. If my memory serves, the abolitionists were also religiously based, and where would we be without them?
On the other hand, I think history shows that more people have also been killed and persecuted in the name of religion than any other cause. I wonder if the good outweighs the bad? Any thoughts?
Interesting question.
Have a great day,

i'm currently taking a course in cultural anthropology to fulfill a college requirement and thought i'd share something from one of the textbooks we are using.
in the book, "extraordinary groups -- an examination of unconventional lifestyles" ethnographer william w. zellner relates his findings when he spent some time studying the jehovah's witnesses.
he relates of an experience he had when attending a convention: .
They would take this information as further proof that the world is persecuting them. After all, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you.

i have been in communication with an epicopalian priest through yahoo personals.
he lives in south kansas but comes to this area often.
i met him yesterday at barnes and noble.
Wow, what a horrible man! And he's a PRIEST? Is adultery allowed in his church? Why don't you tell him you were unaware of the teachings of the Episcapalian church, and you are forwarding his e-mails to the highest elder (or whatever they call them) in his area. Not that you would do it, but I would imagine it should worry him.
It's too bad that this happened, but at least he was "honest" in telling you the situation before you took it any further. That's the only positive thing I can think of for his actions.
Good luck,

i talked to my mom on the phone monday.
they're going to be at the district convention this weekend so since they'd be in macon and pretty close to where i live, i suggested they drop by.
it's been a hard 11 years, a lot of bad times.
Good luck, Bendrr, and remember, you catch more bees with honey!

norwegians 'are the dirty men and women of europe'
norway is home to some of europe's dirtiest people, according to a survey.. the study found seven per cent of people in norway changed their underwear only once a week.. the survey, conducted by ac nielsen for norwegian underwear maker dovre, asked 1,000 norwegians between the ages of 20 and 60 how often their changed their underwear.. some people admitted to changing them even less often than once a week.
more than a third said they wore the same underwear for two days or more, aftenposten reported.. people between 41 and 50 were the least likely to change their underwear regularly, while people with partners were found to change their underwear less often than single people.. the survey showed 11% of norwegians change their underwear two to three times a week, 18% change four to six times a week and 58% change daily

i just got offered my dream job!
i made it through two successful interviews and today they called me and said i got the job!
i'll make about $10,000 a year more than i am now!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
for 3 months now i've had a work related project to write and complete, its due in this coming monday, and still i haven't even started it, i just can't seem to get my ass in gear ever with this sort of thing .
occasionaly i've looked over it, thought about what i'm gonna write,.......... then just shoved it to the back of my mind for another week.
all the time i've been getting more stressed as the deadlines been approaching.
I will be blatantly honest and say before I found this board I usually did most of my work right away. But I am so addicted, now I put things off. I would give you some advice on how to get over procrastinating, but I need to figure it out myself.
Good luck on your project,
Happyout
