  Here we go again - I think I'm toast this time

  in september 2001, i had a brief relationship with a coworker.

  nothing came of it, we weren't a match.

  but i was attracted to her, and i still am somewhat disappointed that more didn't come of it.

  Hi Dan....
  I think this woman certainly overreacted to your comment and I can understand that men may feel very `fragile` as to what they can say to women in case it gets taken as `inappropriate` or some form of `sexual harrasement`..and I do believe woman CAN take advantage of the `system` in this way and sorry that she felt a need to take it up with management....
  However the other side of that is that SOME men seem to be unaware of what is acceptable and not in the workplace. Example, today I was berated by a male Manager (of another team- he is in admin and I am a professional) most inappropriately in a public place (staff room) and found myself walking out of work today, something I`ve never done before - the grievance he had with me was a simple mistake on my part and I was agreeable with all his requests until he said "you should know better" - un-necessary. I believe SOME men (not all) who are on some kind of power trips think it OK to behave in this manner to a woman colleague and I for one will take the issue further. Too sensitive maybe? stuck up bitch maybe? but I have a right at work to feel OK at work too........

  How Long Does Grief Last?

  last week i was very taken aback to see a recently bereaved (4 months) friend of ours walking along the high street with his arms around a ladyfriend.

  i knew how devastated he had been at his wife's death, so it gave me quite a start to see him with someone else.

  i then told myself it was none of my business, quit judging sunshine, get on with your own life.. i couldn't shake the image out my mind however, so i discussed it at length with her ladyship to get her thoughts on the matter.

  I think grief and / or love over a partner lasts forever but I also think it healthy to move on....I think that your friend has every right to move on, and I don`t think it disrespects his wifes memory at all.....My ex husband died July we had been divorced for 10yrs - I am still devastated by the fact he is not alive even though we never saw each other for long periods of time......but even on his death bed (and with another woman for 10yrs) still said he loved me.....it never leaves you! but you learn to move on!....If I was you I would just console him for his loss and wish him well in his future............in any way he chooses it to be...

  Should I let my kids visit my JW parents?

  i have a dilema.

  my parents are still active jw.

  last year they told me they had to limit their association with me.

  This is a real dilemma for parents - I was Df`ed when I was 21 and my two girls were babies. I always let them stay with my parents (active JW`s) during school holidays etc.....even though on many ocassions I was told to `leave them at the gate`......nice huh! anyways most times I would have to `un` program them as they had been filled with book studies and prayers etc. When my daughter was 10 she wanted to live with my parents so I let her......my daughter is now 24 and has children of her own and wants nothing to do with the religion, as well as, my younger daughter too.....BUT I think it was useful to let them decide for themselves and see the differences in conditional / unconditional love....I think I made the right decision even though it hurt me as I was / am shunned by by folks......I can only say it was a struggle....and as parents its difficult when confronted by these dilemmas...........

  My father is dead

  today i found out that my dad committed suicide, probably on sunday sometime.

  his body was found today and the plano police department called me.

  i am numb and grieving, kind of relieved for a lot of reasons, and very very sad.

  i saw a reply by francois on another thread asking what the heck is marmite.

  we americans with our (a-hem) "refined tastes" really don't eat this stuff.

  most americans really never heard of the stuff.

  There is rival between the English Marmite and the Aussie Vegemite..the truth is they are similair in taste anyways .......I like both ..my son though hates Marmite being a healthy strong young aussie male and refuses to eat the english counterpart.....the taste grows on ya!
