Ah..., a publisher after my own heart. I do the same thing every month! Just makes sure that he spreads the hours around. Bible studies, return visits, so it looks believable. 25 hours is good. It shows that he is super spiritual. Watch out, he is in line for an eldership!

i know the mormons go door to door and i have seen some church of god people occasionally.
who else has organized preaching ministries (door to door, etc.)?
i'm in an ongoing dialogue with relatives and this is one of their contentions - that the witnesses must have the truth (despite the many fallacies) because they are the only one that go door to door preaching.
I would hesitate to call it organized though. After attending some of the services and talking with some folks its more like people do what the spirit moves them to do.
Annd isn't that they way it should be? We should be moved to preach, not legislated to preach.

What I cannot help but marvel at is the picture on page 21. Is this a depiction of first century Jerusalem? The wife and husband are both home and come to the door. The doorway is white and freshly painted? Are they kidding? Those people had no time to stand leisurely listening to someone talk in the middle of the day. They had constant chores to do in order to live. And why are they dressed so nicely? Surely the man tends to his fields and animals and the woman to her scrubbing and baking and cleaning and whatever else they did in old clothes and not beautiful clothes as they are wearing in the picture.
Maybe I am mistaken, but I also thought that first century Jerusalem was a rough, hard life.
i like to read the km to see what the wtbts is saying, and then to think about what they really mean.. information appears in the km when problem need to be addressed in the organization.

the front page "make the most of your time in the ministry" was insightful to me.
The elders are the best time wasters.
1) drop off the publishers, then go back and pick them up, never spending any time talking to anyone yourself.
2) going off with a MS to make special calls and errands
3) going off with one's family every Saturday morning, never spending time with the rank and file
4) scheduling a "bible study" on Saturday morning but always going by yourself
5) taking much time for the meeting for field service, waiting for the late ones, taking 30 to 45 minutes before even getting in the car.
6) stopping for coffee break at 10:45 and taking 45 minutes, then quitting because it's 11:30, saying you will make an RV on the way home.

I'm an elder and I do all of that in order to avoid going in service. In fact, I have not been door-to-door in months now.
Of course, I still count my time which is above average.
No. 4 is my specialty, but I always "take alone" the wife and kids.

It's incredible to me that they think that the sole purpose of their Satan the Devil is to attack Jehovah's Witnesses. That is all he and his cohorts do. They spend their time studying and thinking about the witnesses so that they will know their weaknesses and thus know how to weaken their faith.
Just as they have invented their God, Jehovah, they have likewise created his adversary Satan the Devil and given him a role that is so stupid that any self-respecting devil would be ashamed at its pettiness.

I may be wrong, but when I read the letter I got the impression that the audio download will be available on the main Watchtower site starting in January, 2008.

They only mention elders being sued, but what about ministerial servants, brothers and even sisters?
I knew there was something fishy about their numbers and now I know what it is. They limited their count to just elders, making no mention of others in the congregation.
i grew up as a jehovah's witness.
my mother was uneducated and so we moved every 2-4 years as she tried to find stable enough work to support a child so ive attended many kingdom halls and have known many witnesses and many elders.
i've never gone back to the witness organization and never will.
The world is full of good and bad people. The Witness organization is no different. There are literally millions of genuinely good and decent people that are Jehovah's Witnesses. And from my extensive experience with at least 12 different congregations and thousands of people I can assure you that the mix is probably 99.99 to .01 in favor of those good and decent people. And yet, the people on this board would have you believe the number is skewed in the opposite direction. I call bullsheit.
Well, even though I think your percentages are way off, so what? I mean so what if all Jehovah's Witnesses are fine, upstanding people. What does that really mean? Does that make them special in some way? Does that make them better than other people? Are they going to receive more blessings from God just because they are Jehovah's Witnesses? The questions is would they still be fine and decent people if they were not Jehovah's Witnesses?
There are literally millions of good and decent people that are NOT Jehovah's Witnesses. One does not have to associated with a religious organization to be good and decent.
There are also many Jehovah's Witnesses who are not fine and decent. Who are scammers, pedophiles, liars, adulturers, and just about everything else you can think of and, believe me, it is getting worse.
It seems like you were never an elder and so you were privy to only surface dealings with the people in your congregations. I am presently an elders and I can tell you that most witnesses have skeletons in their closets. They may smile and greet you and have you over for dinner, but everything is not always rosy in Jehovahland.
