  Father's day

  i just wished my dad happy father's day for the first time since 1980, 23 years!

  i'm so glad he's still around so i could do that, i might have missed the opportunity because he's had medical problems lately.

  it felt strange, but also it felt like a good thing.

  i assume a high percentage of those that post & read posts here are either still witnesses, disfellowshipped, disassociated, or just drifted away from the organization.

  i'm sure many of us remember well the beliefs of the wts about the scenario leading up to armageddon & i wonder how many of us still think about that kind of thing.

  i recall the idea that there would be a declaration of peace & security & every time i hear a political leader or un leader use terms like that my ears perk up.

  WARNING.....demon attached to object?

  after all the years of having it drilled in my head that demons could attach themselves to an object i now wonder: is that just more jw bull****?

  am i still reacting to the years of brainwashing or is there really a concern about what one brings into their home?.

  anybody have any thoughts on this????

  Wasting PRECIOUS time !?!

  i was just feeling guilty wasting all this time reading these threads, new & old.

  but then it occurred to me how much time i spent going to 5 meetings a week, going in field service, studying & preparing, getting dressed up & travelling back & forth to the kh for more than two decades.

  i have a long way to go to catch up!!!.

  Not enough proper investigation.

  last night there was a true story about a man who killed his wife by setting up another man, getting him to come to their house.

  he murdered both the wife & the other man.

  the police immediately thought the guy was innocent so they closed the case right away.

  Did you ever want to 'cross your heart' as a kid?

  what are some of things you were deprived of as a jw kid that were not all that bad??

  i remember when other kids would say 'cross your heart or hope to die' as an act of truthfulness.

  i don't know the origin...but it seemed harmless enough.

  the wts always taught that there is absolutely no life anywhere in the universe except here on earth..

  because the bible doesn't talk about it, therfore it don't exist.. seems to me that is rather poor logic.

  i was talking to a friend of mine the other day, who is spiritually minded.

  now that my decision to leave the organization is made, there is definitely a sense of relief.

  i know i'm leaving a controlling organization, not my faith in god.

  so i'm still praying at various times during the day, but it has become a very odd thing now.

  most of us believed it was the truth.

  inherent in that is the belief that we would be persecuted and this would be one of the signs that we were the true religion.
