Best argument against a Jehovah's Witness?
by Happy indon't get me wrong, i'm not one to actively persecute jw's, i'm just wondering what you guys think is the best agrument/point to use when a pesky brother or sister just won't leave you alone.
normally, i am willing to listen to their drivel out of respect (even though i have no respect for the wt) but there are times when i am not in the mood to hear them babble.
i normally bring up the 1914 generation point, and it normally works.

question #2:had you read the bible in its entirety?no!.

Okay, those stumped some as well. Including me.
But every memorial, they would read a scripture. (Rev 14:3) talking about the 144,000 annoited one's and why they can partake. But, he would never read the next scripture and everyone always did. Rev 14:4.
"These are the one's that did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins. These are the ones that keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes. These were bought from among mankind as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb." Rev 14:4
"And no falsehood was found in their mouths; they are without blemish." - Rev 14:5
My sister would always lean over and ask me how could it be. And my mother along with everyone else kept re-reading with a curious look on their faces.

I answered the same as well.
It was harder back then to research without the internet, but not impossible. It's hard to believe that all these things were missed.
But every memorial, there's one scripture read that stumps everyone.... can anyone guess which one it is?

Why Do Inactive Ones Regularly Go To Assemblies?
by minimus ini never could understand why people that never go to meetings, suddenly show up at circuit assemblies or district conventions.

I pretty much had to go since I was still a child. Dressing up in country dresses that made me look like a dweeb. I'd usually fall asleep or have to take notes that I didn't understand. It was like the same talk over and over again. And then a few couples would stand on stage and the wives would say they were happy to be in subjection to their husbands...
This one example this sister gave even made my mother upset. They had started a family and she wanted to find a better house to raise the children in. So, she tried to have a discussion with her husband. She didn't go to him saying they were going to buy a house right there and now. She said she just wanted to talk to him and see how he felt and to at least look at a few places. He quickly cut her off saying NO and that was the end of it.
Then she goes" It was hard, but I know I had to be in subjection and listen to him because he knew best. And today, I am happy that I made a faithful and loyal subjection to my husband as the head. Just as Jesus is the head of him, he is the head of me."
Then he takes the mic and says "Yes, things have been much easier and there have been less arguments."
So no, I don't think I was there to look for a clone to date. lol

My most humiliating experience there was when I tripped over a cord and fell FLAT on my face in front of alllllllllllll those people!
Minutes later while rubbing my knee and walking up those scary concrete steps that I was always afraid of falling down, I heard a scream and saw a sister with a Jheri Curl fall over a row in the "nosebleed" section and fall onto the people below her.
Other time, I held in laughs as people tripped a step or two down the steps while I checked off how long it would be until lunch or the Drama.
Sitting in the arena and trying to spot someone I knew through the binoculars I bought from the people outside. "Heeeey... I know who that is."
Kinda mean, but I was just so bored.

Yes, I am thinking of doing that.
The odd thing I notice is, she's only happy if she's getting sympathy or if someone else is having a bad day.
We flew home for a family reunion and the whole visit was centered around her being "sick". I'm asking my family what they meant and they told me she called everyone before we arroved and told them she has cancer. This obviously made me very upset because she knows, I know and the doctors know that she does NOT have cancer. CT scans, almost every expensive test showed no signs of cancer and said she was healthier than most people her age. Which she isn't even 50 years old yet.
She will not stop until someone feels sorry for her to the point of tears. It's hurt alot of people. Even me because all through my childhood she told me she was going to die any minute. That was 10 years ago. I spent my childhood afraid she was going to die. And now I hear that she's healthy after all these years.
So my questions is:
Is she fully aware of what she's doing?
Either way, I will take the advice and move out. Because I've missed out on enough of my life as it is. Mental illness does rub off because they can DRIVE you to lose your own mind. And it didn't help that people in the congregation would reinforce and instigate the notions in her head. Pumping fears of demons by pointing out what was demonized. A hair clip, a coin, a piece of paper with "church" on it...etc. It just added an extra burden on me.

My mother is "inactive" and is planning on going to the Assembly. I sense some guilt along with her seeing it as something important that she should attend. Something to boost her doubts away. Maybe a quick fix. Who knows...
