we used to have an elder in our congregation that never invited anyone to his house.he was a real moocher, though.
he was always paying a visit to the "friends" around dinner time.he was single and never had a girlfriend.
one day a couple of us went to visit him at his apartment, just to see if he would invite us in.
Maybe he was busy posting here somewhere?! Or maybe his apartment was a pigsty. Or maybe he was just a jerk......maybe you should call on him and get the low down. Heeheeheee!

if you were to describe your temperment, would you say that you are a pretty tough person or a crybaby?
do you wear your heart on your sleeve and tend to be emotional, or do you let things just bounce off of you?
I think I am a little bit of both. I can be tough as nails or a real big sissy girl. Depends on the situation, or it could mean that I am one psycho bit*h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the constellation of the seven stars forming the pleiades appears to be the crowning center around which the known systems of the planets revolve.... it has been suggested, and with much weight, that one of the stars of that group is the dwelling place of jehovah and the place of the highest heavens;..... the constellation of the pleiades is a small one compared with others which scientific instruments disclose to the wondering eyes of man.
but the greatness in size of other stars or planets is small when compared to the pleiades in importance, because the pleiades is the place of the eternal throne of god.. j. f. rutherford, reconciliation, 1928, p. 14.. .
Must have been written back in day when Rutherford had his brewery in the Tower basement!!!
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!

maybe that's a stupid question.
i always thought you could get disfellowshipped for associating with ones who are disfellowshipped.
however, i seem to remember something in the "secret" elders manual (which my husband found in it's entirety online a couple of years ago, but which we haven't been able to find again) which said that a person would not get disfellowshipped for associating with a disfellowshipped family member.
Is this the page your looking for?
If an individual is trying to influence others to take an
unscriptural course or is trying to deceive others, all
should avoid him; he is described at 2. John 9-11.
Disfellowshipped and disassociated ones are shunned by
those who wish to have a good relationship with Jeho-
vah.
Basic Scriptural counsel on the proper view of those who
have been expelled from the congregation is set out in the
apostle Paul's words at 1 Corinthians 5:11- 13.
John counsels against speaking to or associating with a
disfellowshipped or disassociated person so as not to be "a
sharer in his wicked works." (2 John 11 )
Scriptural and historical guidelines on how to view
disfellowshipped and disassociated persons are found in
The Watchtower, September 15, 1981, pages 20-31.
We need to be especially cautious about contact with
disfellowshipped persons who have apostatized and
those who continue in their immoral conduct. (Titus 3:
10, 11; 1. John 2:19)
These can contaminate the congregation like gangrene.
(2. Tim 2:16-18)
The principle set forth in Jesus' words at Matthew 10:
34-38 has a bearing on situations involving disfellow-
shipped or disassociated relatives.
Special and difficult problems may arise in relation to
social gatherings.
Loyal worshipers of Jehovah will want to adhere to the
inspired counsel at I Corinthians 5:11.
Normally, a close relative would not be disfellowshipped
for associating with a disfellowshipped person unless there
is spiritual association or an effort made to justify or
excuse the wrongful course.

jehovah's witness policy being challenged in court
email to a friend
Thank you Devon for posting this. I have emailed it to every active witness in my address book.
when i started studying with the jws, the matter of whether the genesis account should be taken literally was glossed over quickly.
i think it was one of those "it'll be clearer later on, so let's continue with the study at hand".
it really was an issue for me even from the beginning because my work has always been in the science field.
Hi JNS2,
I still read and appreciate the Bible, but since I have been out of the JW influence I have read other accounts in other "holy" books and have looked at other belief systems and culturs and so forth. The Garden of Eden or Paradise account is prevelant every where I have looked, just as the account of the flood was told by different cultures through oral tradition. I don't think it really matters as far as any salvation is concerned about how you view the Genisis account. I think if you do more research outside of the JW org. you will come up with an answer that fits. My problem after leaving the org. is about the bible itself. There are other writings and scrolls that the WTBTS has dismissed as not being from a divine origin. Well, others in the past have done that too such as Orgin in the third century and Eusebius in the fourth century, and as you go along the list gets longer. So my advice is to hit the books (historicle and secular) try to stay away from any that are biased. You can "make sure of all things" outside of the WT publications.

i havent bothered thinking much about the deeper issues of life recently but why not start again i thought to my self, and i ask the questions what are we and how did we get here?and i ask these in the biggest sense ie, not how did we get here on earth but how and why did the whole show sart in the first place.. its easy to say the universe just happened , we just evolved and our conscious existance is just a freak of nature.but these answers sweep over the main issues which are far deeper.. i learnt to reject ghosts, gods, angels and supernatural phenomena , but my own existance is more perversely strange to a logical mind than any of these, and yet i do exist.. what the hell is it all about i wonder?
I think one has to take into consideration all the ancient writings of all the civilizations that is available to us today. Somewhere along the line men made decisions as to what was inspired and what was not. Were they correct? Or did they accept certain writings because it fit into their scheme of things? We have some pretty ugly history that shows us how humankind has used holy writings to control others, and many of us have experianced control by an organization that is presumptouess enough to claim that they have the only truth for all of humankind. Whether or not you should believe in a god or Jehovah god is not up for speculation, because each one of us is going to believe what we want to because we need to. If you believe in a god, thats ok. Thank your god each day for the life you have and enjoy it. If you don't believe in god thats ok too. Live each day like its your last and be joyful for every breath you take.
May you find peace on your journey and live and let live.
Hugs!
