Just to let you know, my mother is a JW, my father isn't. I had a bit of a conversation with my mother last night. To get into all the details of why they don't belong together would take up pages. I know that my mother is unhappy staying with him. Personally, I think they would be much better off if they were to split up.

My mother keeps on telling me "The truth keeps this marriage together". Yesterday, I came up with a good question to come back with. After she told me this, I asked "What is the purpose of this marriage staying together?" She just told me that it's all for me, and she wouldn't want to put me through a separation or divorce.
My personal belief is that people should do whatever they need to keep their lives satisfactory and happy. I think my mother would me much happier if she were separated from my father. The "Truth" keeps people unhappy.

one of the great things that this board offers is the ability to express yourself.

sometimes, things we couldn't tell a person to their face, we can express here.

or we might be able to give of ourselves, our experiences, our joys and frustrations......you name it!.......regarding my vent, it is that i can't understand why some post on these boards and yet are very pro witness.

Actually, I don't really have anything to complain about. My life is headed in a very positive direction. A person creates his own happiness. Jehovah's Ex-Witnesses are happy people!

then the others in the congregation would come to help out, either financially or with physical labour.

then 2 months later, the "unfortunate one" would go on a vacation to europe.. i knew a family like this, and their kids were no better.

I knew a family like this, and their kids were no better. One kid was bugging everyone in the bookstudy if they would save him stamps, since he was starting a stamp collection. Since I had a brief hobby of stamps at one time, I gave my collection to him figuring he was genuinely interested. Then the little bastard sold them all at the family garage sale that summer!

Should "Apostates" Shudder?

i was reviewing the study articles in the may 15, 2003 watchtower.. the first article: "christ speaks to the congregations" is rather hard hitting against (so-called) apostasy and sectarianism.

the conclusion of paragraph 6 says:.

"to maintain the purity of jehovah's worship and to protect the congregation, therefore, they (true christians) do not extend the hand of fellowship to unrepentant apostates.".

Ooooh! Paranoia! There's been so much more talk of apostates now than there was when I was attending meetings. The power of the internet is strong! I'm surprised the internet isn't being categorized as "The Devil's Tool", but then the Society would have to bury the fact that they at one point had their own website.
