Who composes the JW music?
by JH inwho composed the songs in the song book "sing praises to jehovah", and who decides what song is suitable or not?
the song book is almost 20 years old, and i wonder if they will come out with a new song book?.
although a few songs are nice, i find that most of them are dull.

He He, I met two dubs today
by johnathanseagull indid my usual jaunt this morning biking down to the train station in ddorf to get my sundaytimes (just need that shot of english !!!
)...taking my normal route home, low and behold, two dubs holding watchtowers in various languages, one was a young lad of say no more than 25, the other 50ish, looked like he could sell me a car lol..........i asked if they could speak english, the lad replied yes, they were greek by the way.........i was straight in with "i left due to the 1995 "generation" definition change" (hey i lied but whats a lil ole white lie in theocratic war eh?
)...........the young lad didnt know about it, although he admitted being in da truff at the time !!!!

Johnathan, I had a dub siting as well this past week. Me, my fiance, and my brother were sitting at a local ice cream store, adding to the bellies we don't need, and I spotted 2 men and 1 woman around my age, walking toward the ice cream store in full blown witnesswear (minus the suit jackets). One of them I recognized from my old congregation, however I doubt he recognized me. I think he looked at my tattoo & long hair in disgust.

Hi Heather! I was very much in the same situation as you. I thought from the day I turned 18 I'd be able to stop going to meetings. Didn't quite happen that way. My mother was a baptized witness, and my father was studying. The farthest I got was "Unbaptized Publisher". On the last meeting I went to, I gave a talk in the Theocratic Ministry School. I didn't even plan on that being my last meeting. I was just never forced to go to one again. My dad quit studying and so did I.
I'm writing an autobiography which will be available for free downloading in the near future, and I give my experiences of this. Send me a PM if you wish to chat!

1975..Let's Keep It Alive!
by Englishman in1975. the end of 6000 years of man's existence, and logically, therefore, the start of the 1000 year reign, which meant that armageddon had to be done and dusted before that.. i remember it well!
the hype at assemblies, my dad giving up his job and selling his home to move where the "need was great", now minimised by mother with her "oh so you're another seventy-fiver are you" comments.. now it's just something that occasionally embarrasses jw's, some of them deny it ever happened, others think that it was all too long ago to be relevent.. maybe we need to put 1975 into a slot where we can all relate to it.
maybe those of us who remember that year could chip in as well.. so, what did happen in 1975?

How come Satan gets to survive Armageddon ? and we don't ? Are we that bad

when replying to a thread started by black man i said something like ........ " after armageddon is over we will all be dead, but satan will still be kicking, and then let loose again after christ's 1000 year reign, so satan already has his get out of armageddon card, he's already thru.

Back in high school, I had this "girlfriend". Well, we were quite interested in each other, and I kept on making the attempts to take her out. Unfortunately, her mother was preventing her from letting her date.
There was one specific time where we agreed to go out. I called her before I picked her up, but her dad answered the phone. He basically invited me over to kick my ass. I never went. I wish I would have gone. I would have stood up to the old fart.
This is the only thing I regret.

What Would A Jehovah's Witness Romance Novel Be Like?
by minimus ini was reading in the religion page of the newspaper today that the mormons are enjoying romance novels in which descriptions of the characters' sex lives are limited to little more the first kiss--- that could happen after they are engaged to be married........any ideas of what a jw romance novel might be like?

"Absolutely not!" Hilary's father yelled. "You must be accompanied by a mature brother or sister, not another immature couple who are just dating!". Hilary felt her heart fall. She knew that her father was correct. So much for breaking off and being alone with David.
"Why don't you get Travis Lavy to accompany you and David? Travis is a very wise brother, and he's spiritually strong. He would be a very wise choice to chaperone the two of you." Hilary had talked to brother Lavy on occasion, but didn't know him very well. He gave very informative talks at the Kingdom Hall, and he was a regular pioneer. He hadn't married because he decided to spend his life preaching the good news in these last days.
"Brother Lavy will keep the two of you in line. I'm going to call him and ask him". Hilary wasn't incredibly happy with her father making this decision for her, but he was head of the household, and this was in line with Jehovah's arrangement. After the arrangements were made with brother Lavy, Hilary made a phone call to David....

Fading of the WTS?
by Nosferatu inwith all the recent failing legal issues the wts has been involved in, i'm starting to wonder if the wts is trying to do their own fading.
just think of it, the scarlet colored beast has attacked them (they run themselves broke), and armageddon is due any day.
this would be the perfect way for the wts to disappear from earth, including all the accusations, lawsuits, etc.
