Wow, I never realized that so many of you guys were such big HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!!

Kidding!!!!! I just thought that I was a little more dishonest than others I guess!! I pride myself on being a very honest person, and yet I never really felt any harm in 'fibbing' on my totals as well.

It must be a built-in thing in the open-minded people of the world: deep down we must have realized we were only cheating ourselves out of our own spirituality, and therefore, since such a travesty was already taking place, any other slight misrepresentation was negligeable. nah, we're all still BLASPHEMERS... lol..... kidding again... cheers

it's quite interesting, added to a chapter dealing with dynamics of friedman-robertson-walker universes.

it looks to me like this man doesn't deny the possibility of a diety, and he is a respected scientist, no creation-pseudo-nonsens-scientist.

No offense to you, Nowhere, but I can grasp Tashawaa's explanation a little bit better than yours. And, if my assumptions are right from your somewhat impolite response to her, I will beat you to the punch that you are not necessarily more intelligent than either of us.

I could sit here and theorize with you all day long and ultimately all we would have is more theory. I would suggest that, POSSIBLY, what Tashawaa is saying is the same things that I feel. Ever listen to Pearl Jam's song, "I Am Mine"? (By the way I am not a Pearl Jam fanatical, but this song reminds me of what I consider the 'reality' of this world we DO know.) To quote their song, "I know that I will live and I will die.... the in-between is mine".

I personally have pondered, analyzed, and studied a lot of THEORIES of life and the only one that I do know for sure is that it DOES exist.... Perhaps the degree of enjoyment that people derive from their own life is directly related to how close they can come to sticking to the basics. Does trying too hard to find the ABSOLUTE answer possibly take away from our enjoyment of it?

I know I like LIFE a lot more now that I keep it more simple.

Six million people mislead?

i have done a little research since joining this board and honestly believe that jehovahs witnesses fit in the cult category.

however what i don't understand if this is not the so called true religion as most of you have expressed how do you figure six million were mislead into believing it is the only true religion?

i mean this is not like the heaven's gate cult or the infamous jonestown cult who had very little followers in comparison with jehovahs witnesses.

I too have always been amazed at how the ever growing number of JW's is proof that they must be right. I have always just said to them that they just have the greatest number of salespeople.. ( no offence to salespeople intended.... lol)

A few times I agreed with them that numbers must prove it and told them that I was going to join the Mormons, since they are the fastest growing religion. Well after they picked themselves up off the floor I explained that I was only kidding, because I was aware that the Mormons are ONLY the fastest growing since they produce so many kids... ( no offence to kids.. LOL I have four)

The truly amazing thing is that the JW's can perfectly grasp the Mormon concept, but the salespeople one is completely ignored....... unless maybe a seed is planted....

Someone said to me the other day that, "In order to belong, you have to let someone own you."

While this person was a pastor, I took it simply as advice on how to be better at sharing thoughts and emotions with other humans. Give enough love to other human beings so that they can OWN your feelings and then the love is reciprocated.

Unfortunately, it seems that JW's take this in-bred human nature 'to belong' and blow it away out of proportion, for they give their entire SPIRITUAL being over to these men who profess to bring them closer to God.

A very unfortunate thing, since ultimately they have their desire to be spiritual, STOLEN from them. Whether it is intentional or not is irrelevant. A person doesn't ask a thief to come in and steal their earthly possessions and yet the vast majority of JW's are doing just that to these SPRITUAL thieves.

what if.... the so-called tribulation means distress and is great only in the sense of duration, having ran uninterruptedly for nigh on 2000 years?.

what if....the so-called last days commenced at pentecost and has also been running uninterruptedly since?.

what if....the so-called signs of the last days are the very non-signs christ jesus warned not to be decieved by?.

Wow, did you smoke a fatty before that one, Blackguard? Kidding, but I have heard about a star or planet or whatever heading this way. What I was told was that it could come close enough to turn the axis of the Earth about 90 degrees. Of course, the only person that I have heard that from until now did do a lot of drugs when he was younger... LOL.

Seriously, I do not follow the news very closely, for good reason. There is too much to worry about, if we listen to it all. Also, is it fair to ignore all the other scriptures and just predict calamity with that one in Matt. 24:29? There is so much symbolic stuff in the Bible, that even if it is God's Word, I try to never take Doom and Gloom literally. If we do that, it seems to take away from the only thing that I DO know for sure.... that life is a beautiful thing if we let it be.

For your sake, I hope you don't dwell on this speculation of impending calamity very much.

When I was younger, (I'm 33 now), I used to kill the boredom at the KH by looking at a lot of wierd stuff in the Bible. How many people out there have noticed that in the original NWT Bible, (the old green one printed in 1961) that Genesis, or in the beginning, started in 46,026 BCE?

This is of course where they got to 1975, with that supposedly being the six thousandth year of man's existence, man having been created at the end of the sixth day. This is when they still had the belief that each "day" of God's creation was 7,000 years long.

I can vividly remember doing a project on dinosaurs in grade 4, (in 1978) and during an oral presentation in front of the class stating that contrary to all scientific data, the dinosaurs WERE NOT around MILLIONS of years ago, but were here a maximum of 13,000 years ago. This was, of course because at the time, the Society taught that the animals were created during the sixth day.

Ever notice that when the NWT was reprinted, that "In the beginning" was not given a specific year? Also, ever notice how hard it is to find an old green Bible around? Want to have some fun? Get a JW to find a 1961 model NWT Bible and show it to them. Let me know your humourous experiences of their own personal denial or light getting brighter crap!!!!!!!!!

(Fortunately my teacher realized that I was just "in a cult" and gave me good marks anyway, because it wasn't my fault that I was misguided. lol )

I still can't believe how silly it was and yet I "knew that I was right" and all the scientists and their carbon dating stuff was just Satan fooling them........... wow what a load of crap....

Let me know of any experiences you may have had where YOUR OWN light got brighter by any similar shocking TRUTHS coming out.

when speaking to a jw the other day, i didn't really have a good explanation of ecclesiastes 9:5, where it says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all.. what is everybody's take on it?

From the guy who started it, but is as confused as when he started it, I guess I just have to go back to "what we think was symbolic was literal and what we think was literal was symbolic" and pause at the stage that I HONESTLY think that I respect our GOD enough to always search for the ABSOLUTE answer, but also to HONOUR HIM enough to know that I will STILL never know it. (the ABSOLUTE) Thanks for your input...
