I thought they got together and did 'Rock,Paper,Scissors' when appointing elders.

More "Elders" Doubt They Are Appointed By The "Holy Spirit"!
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inthe study edition of the watchtower says the elders are appointed by jehovah's holy spirit.
it's confounding the society does not realize that more and more elders, do not accept this claim.
i have racked my brain, wondering how many brothers and sisters actually believe this, fall hook and sinker.

My thoughts on this years Special assembly day
by stillstuckcruz inopening comments: so this past weekend was out special assembly, so obviously supplied by jehovah.
we also had the "privelege" of having a gb representative at our assembly hall.
3/4 were young and my guess would be that those were born-ins.

I think of so many people who could have gone onto better things with higher education. A sister I know, her nephew was a very talented football player here in Texas and had many offers about 3 years ago. Texas,Houston,USC,Washington, etc.
He now carries a bookbag in the service. I truly felt bad for him. Things like that IMO will do nothing but foster very bitter young people within the organization as they get older.
Sir82 I work with witnesses like that. This brother who works part-time Is always telling me about working too much and giving Jehovah his time.
Yet, he has a 22,21,and 18 yo at home. To go along with the 4 and 2 yo he had when he remarried with a sister 5 years ago. Always whining about how hard it is to make up hours after he gives away his hours to go in service EVERY weekend. Plus whatever assemblies, etc. I told him he should stop trying to impress people. He looked at me strange and hadn't a clue to what I was talking about.
He thinks like a late teen or young adult. Not a man who is head of the household. None of his kids work. They all pioneer.

Boy is this so true.
There are alot of brothers and sisters who happen to work at my company. I cross path with the brothers the most. And at least two brothers........EVERY time they speak to me, they say WOW...thats good that you haven't gone out there and met all these women. Of course I haven't told them everything....I'm not stupid. I've dated.
But SEX seems to be the one thing that comes up with these two brothers. How much am I having and who I'm having it with. "You haven't done anything to get in trouble have you ?" At one point I told one of the brothers that I appreciate him having such a positive view on everything ( as sarcastically as possible ) It figures he 'ignored' that comment by me.
One of the brothers........ This brother has his own business and for years that I've known him he would throw his money in my face. Two years ago I moved into a nicer suburb of houston near him and he was negative. "Its pretty expensive out there man." "Why don't you move here ( always somewhere I KNOW he wouldn't live as it was beneath him ) Last year he tells me,"I'm shocked you're still out here. I wasn't sure you could afford it." With a straight face.
When I was doing bad,joe publisher...it was all good. The funnier thing is now that I'm doing better..the same sisters who wouldn't look my direction are always wanting to chat me up. Fuuuuuuuu^%$$# You. JW's are the biggest two-faaced frauds out there.
If they're doing better than you...it gives them someone to look down on in the congregation. Most can't do or say the same of people outside the hall. They're the ones looked down upon or as weird.
I agree with others. They want to see you do as bad as possible and come crawling back. "Yes....yes,see ? I told you Bro/Sis Done bad would be back. They got their come-upings as they so deserved." The ones I work with know how I'm doing..somewhat. I tell them nothing though and lay low.
Which is why if I ever hit the lottery I will be going back to the hall. I'm going to roll into the parking like with the brightest chrome rims on the most obnoxious sports car I can find. Preferably a Ferrari. I want them to see I'm doing good without the truth thank you very much.

Draconian Rules for Attending "Special Convention"
by BluesBrother inbritish dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.
o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.
however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.

I work for a major airline here in the United States that employs quite a few witnesses in this particular city.
Working for said airline, our tickets are free domestic and international. Not to mention the steep discounts we are able to obtain on hotels. Our network covers every single continent and pretty much every major business center one can think of.
That being said, a friend of mine - whose wife works at the very same airline - in 2007 or 2008 went ahead and STILL dropped the 7k I believe it was to attend a convention in Turkey. I'm pretty sure it was 7k. I can't remember if that were per person. I want to say it was,but don't quote me. I know for SURE, they spend at LEAST 7k.
That was the first time I found out that you HAD to book it through them, their hotel, their airline. I remember bugging him about why would he spend that kind of money, when he and his wife could book first class as employees, change and re-arrange their flight plans free of charge,no fee's,etc. At 1000-1500 expenses tops. For them both for 7 days.
All he could come up with was that it's the societies rules. What really infuriated me was I couldn't believe that they didn't see something seriously flawed with it. I didn't even spend the money, but it makes me mad.
Yet apparently people keep doing it. No questions asked.

If I were smart, I'd have gone out like the JetBlue flight attendant.
"F*UCK YOU ! F*UCK YOU F*UCK YOU annnnd F*UCK YOU SIR ! .......... Grab a microphone ( no beer to grab from the galley or slide to inflate ) and walk out the hall.
On a serious note. I went to Spanish and accidently faded pretty much.
Probably around late 2005 went to spanish due a friend going over with his wife. His inlaws were there and he rode me to switch over with them. I did so and gave a few talks and made a little progress. Met a spanish sister, we started dating. I lived in Texas, she in Cali. I flew out there like every two weeks. Long, short she was sleeping with her ex ( while she was regular pioneering ) and she dumped me. I had surgery which kept me out of work for about 6-8 months. Nary a call from my brothers or sisters. But a few from co-workers.
Couple that with the incident with my ex and hearing from no one, I began to question who my friends were. Are they my friends because I go to the hall,or are they really my friends, because they like me for me.
Mid-2008 was off and on. Being in Spanish made it easier. I noticed when I left english no one missed me too much. Most told me to my face they thought I just stopped going to the hall. WOW. I appreciate the postive thinking.
By 2009 I went here and there, but pretty much was done. Haven't done the Memorial since 2010,before that probably 2006,07.
Thats my condensed story.

133 years is a loooooong time.
At one time I was a regular pioneer. I NEVER thought I'd look at some of these people as nuts, crazy,or just plain silly.

Yep.
Because I'll be in the stands watching Tom Brady chew up the Ravens.
Meanwhile all those poor stiffs will be at the hall going over the SAME material again.
I feel bad for them in the sense that so many don't live life.
They don't do anything. My friend on FB. Pretty girl,smart...but ALL here posts everyday for probably the last 2 years......Good morning, out in service. Afternoon...leaving work...out to service. Thats it. Her life is service.
When she posts pictures it's usually of her dad or brothers giving a part.
You're young and 30-something ! Go out do what you like sometime. Concerts, travel, games, movies, snorkel, etc

WW3. smh.
If Tim Tebow would have beaten my Patriots and gone on to Win the super bowl, I'd have gone back to the hall.
But alas, Timmy lost and oh well !

I hear ya James Woods. But I had to listen to this brother go on and on and on for about 45 minutes yesterday.
wh happened-Sounds like my mom. The sky is ALWAYS falling in her world.
The intersting thing is I'm actually doin g better. Financially and healthwise. Two areas that as a dub I was constantly hamstrung. As the brother at work told me yesterday...."some get themselves in trouble and come back....."
I know for a fact one brother is awaiting my demise. and I guess the god of this world has 'blessed' me.
Just VERY tired of the 'end of this system is at the doorstep' BS.
