Leolaia - on an episode of "QI" there was a question about Synesthesia, and the example used was of someone (forgotten who, someone famous and dead) who thought that the lights are turned down at concerts to make it easier to see the colours! That's just so amazing. I think of days as different colours (As Alan did on the programme), but I just think it's because of the "Radio Times"!

I loved how he kept referring to the presenters as Ant and Shriek
Best was a few years back when he referred to the presenters as "Frankenstein and the Tooth Fairy" and the humourless bastards got all mardy about it when they found out - I think he had to apologise!
One of my best friends was at school with the 2001 UK competitor Lindsay Dracass (was 16 and sang "No Dream Impossible" which was a really crap song).
I missed the singing this time as I was watching "Baby One More Time", but made sure I tuned in for the results with Wogan (Scab - crossed the picket lines at the Beeb yesterday) who by his own admission is tipsy after a few songs! -

What's the most thought-provoking novel you've ever read?
by lucky ini'd have to say for me that it was ayn rand's the fountainhead.
even though i don't agree with a lot of her philosophy, it definitely made me stumble around in a thought-induced haze for a few weeks after reading it.

I read The Grapes of Wrath last summer. An amazing book - and what a haunting final scene!

I'm currently reading "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski, I am 80 pages in, I've been dwelling on it *so much* when not reading: I'm weirded out, more than a little frightened, and I need a tape-measure... great stuff so far.

i am really starting to love constantine.
he just gets better and better.. carrie is so consistent, and so good, that i think she is going to win this, but constantine is right up there too.. i also really like anthony fedorov.. i like bo, but think the judges are a little "over the top" about him.

There's been a black male, a white female, and a black female who have won American Idol... I'd say Bo has got it in the bag. Cynical, yes, but I *do* also think he's the best contestant so it's OK.

Weird Logic
by loosie inlet's hear the weirdest comment or suppossed logical thought you've ever heard a witness say.. i'll start: out in service once a sis and her son were in the same car group as i was.
he was having a nose bleed and told his mom that the blood was running down the back of his throat.
his mother said " well don't swallow it yo uknow how jehovah feels about blood don't you!".

So what did they expect you do when you nose was bleeding?
Lean forward with a handkerchief or my sleeve and just wait for it to clot. -

I got the nosebleed blood-swallowing lecture too!
I wasn't even allowed to suck on a cut finger because of the blood issue!
(Probably sensible too, considering how many germs are in mouths)
We hardly ever had meat (and I turned vegetarian at 11) so rare steak was never a problem.
I wasn't allowed Mr Whippy or Mr Softee ice cream though (blood). -

My mum has been inactive for over 10 years, but for almost as long as that an elder has been bringing her magazines and books so she's up to date. She gets tapes of talks indirectly through another person.
The elder's not been in a while. Mum had an invitation for the Memorial from the person who brought her in to The Truthâ„¢ (same hall, different congregation) but she turned it down and didn't go (and didn't feel bad about it at all!).
She said to me today "I don't think is coming back." I said "Doesn't matter if you don't get the mags, as it's all in the Bible anyway and they just keep repeating." She agreed and then said "But what if there's some New Light... well, that would be in the Bible anyway... unless it was contradictory." I say "Like that daft Mediator doctrine." "Yes." said mum, nodding.
I always am a "challenge" to the elder... and a few times he's come over with his ministry partner (never phones first) and I've had to quickly move birthday cards, but he's never commented on them. I'm hoping he's given up, assuming that mum is secretly an apostate too.
It's so good to have her admit they're wrong "sometimes"... she doesn't do that if the Elder has recently been.
But part of me doesn't want them to have given up on her, because it's not fair on her... I'm confused.
I'm thinking it's maybe because of the Awake going to once a month - has that started yet?
