  Aunties and Uncles?

  here in north england it's very common for children to call close friends of their parents aunty or uncle even if they're not really related.

  this also happened at the kh with all the kids calling adults aunty or uncle.

  is this standard jw practice or is it just a northern thing?

  Anonymous domain name registration?

  does anyone have any experience regarding anonymously registering a new domain name?

  there are a number of us registrars offering anonymous, or private, domain name registration, where the registrar registers the new domain name in their own name but the customer has full rights to use, trade, sell the name, etc.

  they usually charge an additional $5 to $10 per month for the service.

  For .com .net and .org you can put whatever you like for the registrant details so they can be anonymous.
  
  Billing details don't show up on a WHOIS.

  i remember, possible 15 to 20 years ago an actual challenge to the wtbts from a reader published in the watchtower, i believe.

  but it did stick in my mind.

  it was on the subject of the nazi persecution of jews and the jws.

  I don't recall that, but I do remember seeing a stern letter on the letters page from a Catholic critising JWs (in general I think not refuting an article) also about 15 years ago.

  I'm sure "Alex" was explained to be the daughter Rousseau was pregnant with when she ended up on the island. She told Sayed (I think) that The Others took her soon after she was born.

  Chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia...

  my daughter has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia.

  several questions: are they one in the same, are there any good web sites to look over?

  also, when she was young she was abused/molested over a several year period.

  I've had M.E. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) since I was 14. I haven't heard of a specific link with hysterectomies; the majority of people seem to get it after viruses, but I suppose feeling run-down in any way could trigger it off.
  
  Don't give up looking for good doctors - I have been lucky, having great doctors from my pediatrician right through to seeing an infectious diseases specialist now.
  
  I don't really go on any M.E.-related websites, but try the M.E. Association and Action for M.E.

  Right to die

  so, now we embark on yet another chapter of the legal battle about whether a person has the right to terminate their human life, with the approval and assistance of medical professionals who are otherwise sworn to preserve life.. oregon is the only state in the united states with such a law (physician-assisted suicide, as so called), though many other countries recognize this act as a fundamental right; and this law, passed by a considerable majority of voters in this state, is now up for review, and very possible rejection, by the obviously conservative and religiously right-leaning supreme court of the us, with a new leader hand-picked by...well, let's not go there.

  for myself, i have no hesitation whatsoever: if i'm faced with the virtual inevitability of suffering a prolonged and painful death, versus a relatively painless and reasonably quiet termination, at my own hands, with those i love, then god-damn anybody who would stand between me and the right i have over my body.. what do you think?.

  ps: i post this in friends...perhaps it should be in another section?

  MY NAME IS EARL

  last night i downloaded the first two episodes of this show and the last time i laughed so hard was when i watched jay and silent bob strike back, a movie from 2002 which happens to include jason lee who plays two characters resurrected from past kevin smith movies, mallrats and chasing amy.. who else thinks this is the best thing to happen to television since seinfeld got really good?

  if you're familiar with jason lee and mallrats, you can see some of his character brodie in earl.

  the only thing that disturbed me was when i saw jason lee on carson daly's show and he said some disparaging remarks about movies he's been associated with, which makes me wonder if he's had a major falling out with smith.

  It's absolutely terrific, I am so glad that Earl was sufficiently awful for so long that he has so much on his list to make up for!
  
  This and "Everybody Hates Chris" are wonderful quality comedy.

  I *cough* "acquire" it every week, so it's watched back in 42 minutes. I'm enjoying it but not if they do the same format next week to show what happened to the *single most annoying and boring person on the island* (Jin *yawn*). Though I do want to know what happened down the hatch during the early hours in the time taken up by Michael's flashback/dream.
