Except that the JW kid wouldn't be taking anybody else with them. :)
I absolutely would have refused a transfusion as a kid if my mum wasn't there. I would have felt it was wrong to accept, but there would have been an element of not wanting to get into trouble!

Scandal of December 2005 km
by IT Support inthe december canadian kingdom ministry has an article "could your child make a mature decision.
" it instructs parents to indoctrinate their kids to refuse blood and make themselves a martyr.
this, to me, was one of the most chilling sentences in the article (paragraph 3):

THE NEWS IS BIGGER THAN DATELINE, BBC, CBC, ETC.
by AndersonsInfo inif i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!

For it to reach JWs it has to be something that doesn't rely on the Internet for verification. Dream scenario would have to be something they can't avoid seeing or reading independantly - something newsworthy in the non-JW world.

Welcome!
People aren't perfect so no organization can be.
Is *God* perfect? If so, how is it possible for His Organisation not to be? If the Society is just imperfect men, then how can they be better than other organisations made of imperfect men - like the Catholics? -

I need help with a discussion with my parents!
by jwfacts inmy parents are on the circuit, well educated, well intentioned and totally committed to the wts.
for years i have argued with them over issues and doctrine.
they know most things that are wrong with the wts but refuse to budge on the idea that it is the only true religion.

I really like bringing up the Mediator issue. I've yet to come across a JW who knows that, according to the WTS, Jesus isn't their Mediator. (including out dear defd)
I showed an almost-JW proof in a publication and she actually slapped her hand to her mouth when she got to the actual sentence. (Worldwide Security Under the Prince of Peace - and some WT articles; see Quotes site)
I find this particularly awful (but useful!!) because it's *directly* and undeniably against the Bible, and also because (it seems) no JWs even realise they don't have this relationship with Jesus. -

Execution in United States Are You For It?
by jayhawk1 infrom the ap.... raleigh, n.c. - a man who killed his wife and father-in-law pinned his hopes on last-minute intervention from the governor or the courts as he awaited lethal injection early friday in the nation's 1,000th execution since capital punishment resumed in 1977. kenneth lee boyd, set to die at 2 a.m., spent the day receiving visitors, including two sons who watched him gun down their mother and grandfather in 1988. .
my questions are; are you for or against the death penalty?
what was your opinion of the death penalty as a jehovah's witness?.

I'm against it on principle as it's barbaric and lowing ourselves to their level; but I seriously could not care less for guilty people who are executed - particularly #1,000 who killed his ex-wife and her father, and even the Australian who got hanged for drug smuggling. Singapore is a country that has/had even banned chewing gum and is insanely strict. Anyone who has anything to do with drugs in South East Asia is an imbecile - the severity of the laws in nations there are well known.

"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "I can see my house from up here!" were my first thoughts.

The GREAT tribulation
by PoppyR indoes anyone else remember horror stories about the great tribulation and what they would do to the witnesses etc.. i remember this being the big topic of conversation for years, then like lots of jw doctrine, they quietly swept it out of the arena, and now it's never mentioned.
i remember pioneering with a girl who couldn't sleep at night and kept praying she'd be strong enough to endure it!
i actually have a talk on tape from a member of the gb where he spoke about ministers swinging from lamposts.. gruesome or what!!

When I was little (under 6 or 7) I remember if anyone knocked on the front door when I was in bed I thought it was *them* come to *get* us. I thought my dad would betray us cos he wasn't a JW.
I also used to practise hiding and being really quiet with my little sister, *just in case*.
My mum didn't know anything about this until I told her after I was out - being a JW she blamed herself for not "explaining it to me".
Oh and at the bookstudy when I was 8 we were doing the Revelation book and the conductor was talking about the Great Tribulation - and said (no bullshit) that *they* might burn my mum at the stake and make me light it! -

THIS JUST IN: CHRISTMAS has been CANCELLED this winter.
by Oroborus21 inflash--november 16, 2005, peoria, il.. instead of merry christmas, happy hannukah (or chanukah), kwanza, etc.all merchants are to use a generic term instead.
no use of santa, a nativity scene or any christian or other religious symbolage may be used in store displays, on advertising on upon product packaging.
use instead nondescript wintry animals, snowflakes and candycanes to signify the holiday season.. the committee on political correctness is expected to issue a final ruling by friday on whether "festivus" may be used.. -merchants for appropriate designations.

This is dumb.
(Coca Cola did *not* invent the modern image of Santa though. Snopes article.) -

Aunties and Uncles?
by glitter inhere in north england it's very common for children to call close friends of their parents aunty or uncle even if they're not really related.
this also happened at the kh with all the kids calling adults aunty or uncle.
is this standard jw practice or is it just a northern thing?

Also Peter Kay has a sketch about calling him mums friend and the school dinner ladies aunty, very funny !!!!!!!!!
I think it's more polite too - I still call all of my "Aunties" and "Uncles" that. Feels completely bizarre that the *real* neice of my favourite "Aunty" just calls her by her first name!
