and in those last days there would be a group giving out the food at the proper time.meaning the time when it was needed to be given out.that being the time of the end
I understand that - but you said that Jehovah has *always* had an organisation. So *who* was his organisation 200 or 1000 years ago?

but in the last days in matthew it talks about a faithel and discreet slave giving out the food at the proper time.so in the time of the end as daniel saidin chapter 12v4 the true knowledge woule become abundant
So *who* was the Faithful and Discreet Slave in between the time the Bible was completed and when Charles Taze Russell began the Jehovah's Witness faith? Who was it 200 years ago or 1000 years ago?

Welcome to the board, PMJ!
In another of your posts, you said that although some people don't believe in organised religion, Jehovah has always had an organisation.
I was wondering if you could tell me who the organisation was in, say, the year *before* Charles Taze Russell founded the Jehovah's Witnesses? If Jehovah God was working with an organisation in those days, why did Charles Taze Russell not join and stay with that faith organisation?
Who was Jehovah's organisation in the years 1800, 1450, 1005, 730?
I'd be very grateful if you could give your perspective on this. I hope you stick around here. :) -

My apology to all
by bigmouth ini made the most awful mistake when i posted a comment about spelling and punctuation on the "bible research etc.." forum.
i learned that i can't just post comments about things when people are unaware of my sense of humour and my general nature.
i have spent the day in tears.

I thought the fact it wasn't serious was abundantly clear. I said that on the thread but nobody seemed to notice!

Surprise, surprise, JW's ar my door
by dedpoet ini just answered a knock at my door, about 5 minutes ago, and it was two jws.
they must either be pretty new, i didn't recognise them anyway, or hadn't looked at their list of people not to call on.
they obviously didn't know that i am a da'd witness, and i didn't enlighten them immediately.

We have JWs pop over regularly to bring mags (and have a cuppa and a gossip) but we haven't had regular Field Ministry JWs in years. We used to get them quite often - and they used to give us dirty "Why haven't I seen you at the KH?!" looks (even though we regularly went....) when we said we were already JWs.
Whoever gets our block each time now must know us or something... or they're getting idle.
My sister lives in a block of flats and has never had JWs call in nearly 2 years - there's a foyer door, but that never used to stop me when I was on Field Service! -

Where does all the money go?
by FaithfulDoubter inok, so, i heard recently that the wtb&ts takes in over a billion dollars in the us alone.
that's a lot of cash.
it seems to me, from my limited vantage point, that the society is indeed doing the things it says it's doing with the money - support co's and do's, building kingdom halls, and so on.

The money *has* to be going somewhere.
My first instinct was that it is ploughed back into the Organisation, but then I remembered how congregations build their own Kingdom Halls (or not, if they are third-world congregations - but if the *Society* paid for a building, however basic, then they wouldn't be able to use the experiences of these faithful brothers and sisters trekking for miles to the meeting just to have to stand in the sun or sit on the floor) with money *borrowed* with interest and the Socity owns all the buildings even after the debt has been repaid... -

Lern,to/spel;and "punctuate"!!!!!
by bigmouth inmaybe i'm tired but........at the risk of seeming overly critical, there have been a number of posts on this forum where the spelling and punctuation have been abysmal.i have no problem with the occasional error but the subjects here tend to be somewhat more complicated and it makes it too much of an effort if i have to keep re-reading things to figure out what the missing word was or where the sentence ends.one academic said it was no big deal as even his professors were poor spellers!well i've got news for you guys, if you don't sharpen up your grammer i'm not even going to try to give you the courtesy of figuring out what you're talking about.
.
now,i'm going to have shower and go to bed and i want this thing sorted out by tomorrow.love pete.

Over 160,000 Simply Left The "Truth" Last Year
by minimus inthat was the comment that a former elder made at the local meeting today in his comment.
evidently, he and his wife heard a bethel speaker's comment during his talk say that (i believe the figure was) 167,000 people did not get disfellowshipped but simply left.
the ex-elder made it a point to say that the elders should be watching to help out the flock before they up and leave.

On Friday an elder said to me "A lot of Worldly People are choosing not to have blood because of the risks." and I just looked at him like he was a moron (which he is) and said "Perhaps, but if it came down to a "risk" versus *dying* they'd have no religious objection would they?" He just didn't get it.
It's *fine* to say "I'd *prefer* you didn't give me a blood transfusion, but if you have to then you have to" but "Just let me or my kid bleed to death" is insanity.
With ex-JWs and associated-non-JWs it's a phobia, they seem to get grossed out by the idea as if they imagine having to *drink* another person's blood. -

What a cruel bitch.
When my mum became a JW and told me we wouldn't be having Christmas anymore she made sure I understood I wasn't to go telling my friends there was no Father Christmas. If a four year old can grasp that it's wrong to ruin Christmas for little kids, then why can't this woman? Yep, a cruel bitch.
