Yea I'm in the same boat. I hate my job and the whole place I work at and it's sucksville culture, but I stay because the money is superb. I am seriously thinking of just quitting and going to get that degree I should have done 15 years ago if it weren't for the constant expectation having been drummed into me that the big A is just around the corner.

Does Anyone Feel Stuck In Their Job?
by love2Bworldly indoes anyone hate their job but feel like they would be throwing away a good thing if they quit?
i'm working at my 3rd state agency in 4 years and have been unhappy at every one of them--usually because i don't have enough work to do and feel like a hamster on a wheel waiting for the paycheck, and i'm so bored!.
i'm scared to quit the state job because i have a large family, and this affords me great medical benefits and retirement benefits.. any advice?

Now come on you softies...it is meant to be a spiritual feast....mmmm delicious...quit complaining and eat your spiritual food and be grateful. If you weren't enjoying the bountiful and nourishing spiritual food supplied through Watchtower study what else would u be doing on a sunday morning.....something totally selfish like sleeping and having morning sex with your spouse.

Jesus' Enthronement, 1914, 1919, or 33 C E. or not at all???
by Blueblades inif jesus' enthronement has not yet occured and will never occur, this topc is mute.
however if jesus' enthronement did occur according to scripture, when did it actually happen or is it yet future?.
the watchtower society has it occuring in the year 1914 --1919, which time frame is the lynchpin for there organizational existence.

It's as plain as the nose on my face that Jesus enthronement is still a future event. Satan and human leaders still rule this planet. If Jesus has already been enthroned it would mean he has been co-ruling with Satan and the nations, which of course is a ridiculous notion.

Can it be proven that the WTS is NOT God's personal organization?
by M.J. inimagine trying to prove to someone that firmly believes in leprechauns that they simply don't exist.
where do you start?
an excellent saying i have heard is "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Not quite correct Barry. The WTS does not say it is simply a story. They apply the Lazarus and Rich man parable to 2 distinct groups - check out The Greatest Man book.

I think it's easy to prove that the Watchtower leadership, GB, are most definitely not the sole channel of religious communication on earth today...that's a given.
Perhaps more to the point is it is impossible to prove or disprove either way whether God actually does have truly anointed spirit-begotten individuals on earth today and where they are. The whole assumpton of JW's and people like e-watchman is that only JW's harbour these individuals and everyone else is essentially still in bondage to Babylonish false doctrines. Yet all of the so-called FDS anointed individuals amongst JW's are themselves in total bondage to the false creeds of the organisation and GB they are enamoured to - which seems an absurd notion if the holy spirit is supposed to have led all these ones into some kind of truth.
While I personally do believe there are persons on earth today who are genuine born-again christians, I choose to be a 'Christian agnostic', ie, I believe in Christianity and that Jesus is indeed "the way, the truth, and the life" but I tend not to believe God is operating through an organisation and that it is impossible at this point in history to tell. It is impossible to know whether the anointed are in one organisation, like JW's, or scattered around many, yet to be gathered.
Even that conclusion is based on an assumption that there is a minority group of Christians who are genuinely anointed of holy spirit while the majority are not.
So everything just boils down to interpretation and a personal matter of faith. Hardly anyone on this planet can do that 100% free of any bias.

I was df in 1993...
by love11 in... i've heard of a new thought about "1914 the generation that will not pass away" that came out in 1994. what is everyone talking about?
-
Noumenon
Actually the concept of the sheep and goats being separated since 1914 was thrown in the trash can in 1995, (only a year after the groundbreaking 'new light' on the 'this generation' understanding). One could be forgiven that the institutional prophets at the headquarters were finally started to make some sense. But, alas, sadly we must remind ourselves that while the Society finally admitted the JW preaching is not accomplishing the separation of the sheep and the goats yet (a future event), the still hold that the harvest of the wheat from the weeds started in 1919. Spot the huge contradiction!

No more TM school review?
by toreador in.
thats what i heard, is it true that there is no more theocratic ministry school review?
.
-
Noumenon
The whole concept of a 2 monthly review is symptomatic of the dry, prosaic, study obsessed culture in the organisation.
"We've got to quiz you regularly and turn the meetings into a little scholastic exercise to give you all a little more motivation to keep on studying studying studying."
Not much emphasis on developing the inner person, just filling the head with facts and 'data'. After all John 17:3 says it is through accurate knowledge by which we gain everlasting life. Accurate knowledge comes before the ransom.
Pathetic really.

Will reading CoC automatically make me want to leave WTS?
by ljwtiamb insince i am still active (somewhat).
i have not read the book and you know what the org says about it.
will crisis of conscience surely send me into a tailspin?

COC is ok but it's a bit passe because nearly all of what it says can be found on heaps of anti-JW websites. If you are just looking to have your faith in the org blown out of the water so you have the perfect excuse to go off and do all those immoral anti-Christian things you've always wanted to do then it'll do that for you. For me, In Search of Christian Freedom is much better. Ray goes further for a person who still has faith in God and Christ but is lost and floundering in the big scary world they find themselves in after coming out for under the 'mother' org's skirts. He gently shows a Christian who has left the org how they can still be a Christian without the org.
Make sure you read In Search of Christian Freedom also.

JW's + child sacrifice
by Noumenon ininteresting article here by the provocative david icke (of the 'we are ruled by alien lizards' persuasion).. there is a comment in the article about child sacrifice rituals, etc.
this brings to mind the fact that most jw parents are of course quite prepared to allow their little baby or child to be sacrificed to jehovah out of blind obedience to the organisation's blood policy.
also, the jw policy on insisting that 2 witnesses testify to any child abuse/molestation, thus making the religion a haven for paedophiles, can also be said to be a form of child sacrifice.

He may have been referring to the new 'Keep on the Watch' brochure. Page 13 reads, (2nd paragraph on the right, inter alia): (quote) "For our day, the Bible forecasts that political governments, like a wild beast, will turn on "the harlot" and strip her naked, exposing her real character. They will completely destroy her."
Years gone by the Society would have been bolder and said The United Nations. As the Society now likes to coddle up to the UN on a regular basis for legal/political reasons (James 4:4) we won't ever again see the magazines denounce the UN like it used to.
