as a youngster raised in the "truth", i had my questions.
but anytime you ask a question that is unanswerable, you are told to just wait on jehovah.
as time passes, i believe that we store up a number of unanswerable questions that forces one to eventually think about everything.
My son asked me why in the My Bible Stories book it said the rainbow Noah saw as part of the "Rainbow" covenent was the First rainbow. Told him to look it up and he pointed out that it didn't say anything about it being the first rainbow in the Bible. When he asked an elder, he tried to defend the book's reasoning instead of going to what the Bible said. That then caused me to question everything that was taught.
So, maybe children do see things more clearly than us old "drones"?????????????

OK, I know this is a guy's perspective, but I would personally let him go. He's not going to get assimilated for one night, and it sounds like you could use the "quiet time". Play the music you want to listen to, sip a glass of wine, and relax. And, if you start feeling guilty, picture the scene of him asking all those questions out loud in the hall!!!! then you'll be LOL...

i was just reading a posting about demons, and a response mentioned something about meditating and how that might allow demons in.. i remember very clearly, back in the old days of going to the hall, there was speculation on that subject.
how meditation was wrong, and that if you emtied your mind out, then demons would go in.
how crazy is that?
...and I remember the contradiction that was always thrown in our face - you know - "meditate on what you read but don't you dare practice any form of meditation"! Confused, just one of those things that mess up minds at the WT. I meditate daily, now, and find its probably one of the few things I do that helps me keep my sanity, at least from bubbling over too much...
no teaching in the bible is clearer and more consistent than the one which holds women to be inferior to men.
below i show that it is taught that the woman was created from man, for man, that man--not woman--is the glory of god, and that women are not allowed to teach or control man because the woman, not the man, is the one who was deceived by the serpent.

All I know is the "stuff" Paul wrote made it much easier for my teenage son to see that what is said in the Bible needs to be taken with a "grain of salt". He now understands that one can question authority, even theocratic authority and not be struck down by lightning. Of course, most of here have also learned that lesson....

This man may be all of what you here have said, but he sure doesn't know how to handle "head-cases"! Here's the story:
Back in the early 90's a brother who was under severe emotional stress due to a failing business stopped by a hall in S.D. Told the elder he met going into the hall for early morning field service that he needed to talk to someone. The elder said he was in luck because the C.O. was visiting. The brother with the problem then got to meet brother Shepard. He told him how troubled he was and that he even had a shotgun in the front seat of his jeep. This really shook up bro "S"... but instead of doing anything, he allowed this mixed up suicidal brother to get into his jeep and drive away. Luckily for the brother and his family, a piece of skin got between the hammer and the slug. Also, two much more caring and compassionate elders came to rescue that lost "sheep", but no thanks to bro S.
You see, if you think this is just another "urban legend", believe me its not...I'm that brother. If this is the same C.O that I met, don't any of you who may need help with anything more than WT crap trust this man. He and others like him in a position of responsibility and expectation of being able to counsel are the reason so many really do DIE.
Sorry for the vent, but this really brings back the horrors of that time. Its one of the reasons I would never trust anything more than the washing of my toilet to these kind of people.
