JWs versus Scientology

i have been discussing scientology with a friend who is reading dianetics by l. ron hubbard.. both groups are considered cults by many.. both have a policy of shunning members who leave.. so in your opinion, what are the similarities you find between them?.

what are the differences?.

is one group "worse"?.

Tips for bringing out the real personality

what can we do as non jw members or ex jw's to bring out the natural personality of an indoctrinated jw?.

it's mentioned by cult experts and former jw's to keep things light and stay clear of direct cult info.

it's difficult for me to do this as i generally like to dive into the deeper waters of emotions, thoughts, subjects and connect on that level.

It's mentioned by cult experts and former JW's to keep things light and stay clear of direct cult info. It's difficult for me to do this as I generally like to dive into the deeper waters of emotions, thoughts, subjects and connect on that level. Yet, I've continued to do so anyway.

As a non Witness, I'm currently shunned. It hurts. Yet, what's important more so is I cannot relay information and connect in a way that would cause a ripple. I do sense my emails are being read.

i would imagine the repetitive meetings, studies and door to door knocking would firmly root them in their beliefs.. yet, i've observed they either back out of challenging questions at times, or share a link to jay w org.. .

The biggest wt 'witness ever' was given in August 2014, based entirely on the blue square. and not one new recruit has so far showed up in our hall.

Lol, needed a good laugh.

I saw a post by a JW woman on a social network sight stating it made history.

However, in my search for God, I am not looking for a company or a logo.

That's a great point. I find it interesting how corporate the appearance of the logo is.

1st POST: A romance with a JW

i am not a jw ...however i began having bible studies (i d call them watchtower studies).

i was beginning to get lured in and brainwashed into accepting the religion as the true religion...but something inside of me told me there was something odd.

some time passes and i was invited to a meeting and i accepted.

If you are not invested, which doesn't sound like you've entered a relationship yet, I wouldn't continue further. To help him with the programming will be very challenging. To start a relationship based on seduction, with the result being guilt, wouldn't be a foundation built on that heart to heart/soul to soul, type of love.

In many cases, the programming will come before you.

You can't win a man's heart (especially a cult programmed man's) over with sex.

I've never been a Witness by the way.

So from my understanding, multiple personalities don't recognize/know one another, correct?

I've known him for about ten years. I've witnessed the cult personality switch which is very different from his authentic personality, take place a few times when he was going back to the cult and doing the whole thing. Otherwise, he's been in his authentic personality more often than not.

I remember the first time I was hit with my loves cult personality. Knowing the real him, my jaw dropped witnessing this switch. I thought he had lost it. It was until a few months later I read Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan. My jaw dropped again and it fully clicked what had happened to him.

Now I am questioning if the authentic self/cult personality is the same as multiple personality disorder?
