This is Mulan again. Used up all my posts. Can't figure out how that happens. Dave doesn't mind if I use his ID
We just finished getting the dressing made, and the turkey stuffed. It is in the oven. I cook it for an hour at 400 and then drop the temp down to 180 until we are ready to make gravy. It never overcooks. Amazingly delicious. I cooked all day today. I made cranberry sauce, Scarlet's candied yam recipe (looks wonderful, ready to bake tomorrow), another cranberry dish someone posted from NPR, and polished 16 place settings of silver, got out the china, and I'm ready to get the table set tomorrow. ; Dinner at 4:30. (the others are bringing pies, mashed potatoes and wine)
Here is a Turkey Day Wish:
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
and your pies take the prize,
and may your Thanksgiving dinner
stay off your thighs! -

Get that jam back. I don't care if she sent it to her mother, she can get it back. It wasn't hers to give, and you should definitely push this issue! I know you aren't confrontational, and they are probably banking on that too. Get the elders involved...............they have to do something. This is appalling!!

Thanks for all your kind greetings and good wishes, it's the upside to getting older. I survived the sombrero and nobody was beheaded. After half a lifetime of ignoring my birthday it is very nice to feel special for a day and I thank you all once again.

Hi, this is Mulan. Reached my posting limit today, so am using my husband's ID.
I sure appreciate all the information you all have given me.
When my son was little, he talked early, communicated well, and read early, and by age 5 was fluently reading. His Kindergarten teacher told me he was very right brained, and might have trouble in school because the schools are so left brain oriented. She was the same teacher Princess had for K., so knew our family, and she was older. She was the BEST thing for him that year. Most of his teachers were wonderful, and thought the world of him, because he was so cooperative and smart, but he had a terrible time making friends, and really had very few in his life, and suffered horrible bullying and teasing. The boys at the KH thought he was weird, but the little girls loved him. He was so nice, they would say. By the time he was 12, they were on to other friends. We all knew that would happen.
In high school, he had two teachers that were outstanding, and recognized he had some difficulties, that other kids didn't have. They communicated with us regularly, and his Freshman English teacher paired him with a boy, who had moved here from Zaire, a missionary kid. He was a great friend to our son, and they were tight friends all through high school, and he was the best man when our son got married last year.
His Drama teacher was by far the best influence on him, and the kids in the Drama class all through High School. They had a code of conduct in the Drama department, that you support each other, in all phases of your life, and school. That attitude spilled over into all his classes where these kids were with him, and made things more tolerable for him.
I showed him all this information this week, and he is so grateful to know about it. He said it answers all the questions he has had about himself his entire life. When he was 17 he talked about suicide to end the torment he felt, because of the bullying he was still getting, by some of the kids.
Many people pegged him as gay, and he knew he wasn't but it hurt him so much to have that torment by some of the jocks at school, only because he was different. I had a close friend, who was a counselor, tell me when he was 15 that he was definitely gay. I was surprised because he like a girl at the KH, and at school very much, and I knew he was not likely to be gay. Sensitive, yes, but he was a romantic, female loving boy. Even one of my nieces, who is also a HS counselor really thought he was gay.
I am rambling, but I wanted you all to know how much I appreciate all this information. It is all new to me, and I would have loved to have had it when he was a little boy. I knew there was something different about him, but no one ever diagnosed this syndrome.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I don't want to do gift cards.

I was going to say Mr. and Mrs. Ozzie are on an exotic vacation. I envy them. I am sure he will tell us details when they get home.
Sorry, this is Mulan. I forgot to change my husband's data when I posted. He wouldn't say silly things like I do.

Do You Believe Any of "The Truth"?
by XBEHERE ini've been lurking for several months, its my first post here.
i am currently an active jw.
i have a very jw family so i have to be careful.

This my first post. I'm Mulan's husband. I served as an elder for twentyfive years. I have enjoyed many of the posts Mulan has shared with me, and I felt compeled to respond to your question. Do the witnesses have any truth? Yes and no. While many of the teachings of JWs are provable, if you believe the Bible as a source, they are either so oversimplified or misconstrued by their convoluted system of proofs, they are of little value to a Bible student. It seems that every teaching has some ulterior motive, that is since this is true so then this is true. I would give you examples if you want them.
First and foremost is that the Bible is written in context for simple folk like you and me to read and get a glimpse of God and his goodness. It's not a manual to flip back and forth through to validate our own interpretations. To isolate scriptures that focus on your ideas is to ignore the context and obscure what is really being said. For example, marshaling numerous scriptures to disprove a doctrine such as the trinity does not help one to come to know God does it? The same is true for soul, hell and most any other you might name. Rather to read the scriptures in their context and ask yourself, what is being said, who is being addressed, why is this included in scripture and possibly what do these people commonly believe is so much more beneficial if we are seeking the truths revealed by scripture.
My answer might seem generic and it is but at the same time it addresses the question: how deeply will you go for the truth? So many witnesses I have known either want simple answers to their questions or simply trust the judgement of others. That is, I don't know the answer but I know people who do and I think they are really smart. Which is how witnesses basically view the GB.
