My previous posts were additional ideas that I thought of to "sell" that would be funny yet educate people about the issues....

It may not have been true in YOUR case but it does happen. I personally finally sent my DA letter when they came after me for having a worldly gf. Since I knew I was headed for the big DF I took charge and told them how I really felt about their teachings, manmade publishing corporation inconsistant "New Light" and a host of other things. So while I formerly DA'd they made it clear that my dating a worldly girl was going to earn me a big fat DF on my publisher card.

i know there are mostly ex jw's on here.
i just wondered how many of you are ex jws, left or df'd, how many are still in but have lost heart?.
are there any jws on here who still believe its all the truth, go to meetings and trust the organisation?.
I was raised in the org....DA'd in 1989....always considered that I had a personal faith in God...religion is another story.

since i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.
I was 11 in 1975 too and I remember thae same things....the family meetings about what to do when it started. The cellar stash of canned goods, bottled water and radio batteries. We buried stockpiles of books and magazines wrapped in plastic and tin foil all over our property just in case ours in the house were confiscated.....LOL oh man...it is funny now but it was terrifying as a kid.

the worse case scenerio is they could be disfellowshipped or basically "kicked out" of the org. if that happens all of the jw's including any family that he has that still attend would be told to shun him.

not if they are baptised and wish to remain in good standing with the organization....even if they are not baptised they will be discouraged from "worldly" associations.

I grew up in the dubs and can tell you thaat it is sort of an all or nothing situation with them. They are not allowed to "date" as you would think of dating. They go right from interested to I Love You and marriage. Because of the isolated life they lead many are pretty emotionally stunted. I know I was unprepared for social dating when I got out and it took me some time to realize that what I thought was right may not be appropriate.
I am certainly not an expert and you will get lots of responses I'm sure so I hope you can get the info you need.

i've been smoking since i quit being a witness.
i smoked for a week when i was 15, i quit when i started studying.
my "smoking" then was only a few cigarettes, i was by no means addicted.
I ask myself the same question every winter LOL
