For me, it's the movie and soundtrack "Magnolia", hands down. Without the music, there would have been no movie, really. Aimee Mann was on her best with that soundtrack.

have you undergone psychometric testing to see what kind of personality you are?
the following emode test is free, and will help identify your personality type:.
http://web.tickle.com/tests/classiccareer/.
Your career personality type is ENFP
That means that based on the standard measure of personality traits, you have strong organizational and project management skills. When others lose sight of the big picture, you help them to stay focused to see what's important and weed out unnecessary details. You are most fulfilled by your work when you are allowed to think creatively and consider new approaches to work. You are not afraid to take calculated risks and see mistakes or failures as opportunity for growth.
You have a diverse array of interests and are even regarded as a Renaissance type of person. You possess an inspiring zest for life and abound with creativity. You seek venues to express your thoughts and feelings. Your personality and beliefs shine through in most of the work you do.

today in a fast paced world do you ever stop to consider how many indiviuals may suffer from some sort of mental illness.
i was mentioning it in another post to day and it made me stop and think, just how many people have mental illness and may not know it .
i in particular i am addressing the side of mental illness known as "compulsive obsessive disorder.
My mother has OCD. She is a hoarder. It has gotten quite severe over the last few years, to the point that now, there is only a trail through her apartment. Even her bed has only enough room for her to lay, and the rest is covered in more "stuff"(by stuff I mean, at least a hundred pens and pencils, large boxes of folders, labels, old magazines).
The last two years, she has been obsessed with containers. Her goal is to organize, and get rid of the majority of things, but so far has only led to hundreds of plastic containers, bins, and bags.
She doesn't answer the door anymore, and won't let anyone visit her because she is humiliated, and angry with herself. Most people don't understand; they just assume she is a slob. But really, my mother was always a perfectionist, clean freak. I can't imagine how she must feel now.
She was finally diagnosed with OCD last summer, and has been on meds, but so far, it hasn't really helped. She is working closely with a doctor, so hopefully some treatment will finally click.
Thanks for sharing!

last week, two police officers threw a cat into the river to drown it, after owner alleged it had attacked her and no longer wanted it.. .
personally, i find it disgusting and completely inhumane.
This whole incident is infuriating. My girlfriend's sister called peta immediately, and they have been investigating and urging that charges to be pressed on the officers.
The cat should have been taken to vet, or the humane society, and been examined. It was subdued and harmless in a pet carrier, and was no immediate danger to anyone. I'm utterly disgusted that these police have yet to be prosecuted for their actions.

did anyone else watch the pilot of showtime's new show, the l-word?.
it stars jennifer beals(flashdance), and laurel holloman, and it is a like a combination of sex in the city and a female queer as folk.. .
it's about time they had show centering around lesbians!
Hey, thanks for posting the pic Nilfun! :)
Also speaking as a lesbian, I really liked this show. How realistic is it? Well, although the women are all femme, it's not too bad. Its a lot more like Sex in the City than Queer as Folk, and the characters are likable. I have to disagree with Gretchen, though, the character Shane is pretty leather(and pretty yummy!) if you ask me. :)

i always have felt that the following expressions were stupid, why dont they just call it pro abortion, anti abortion.
anyway, knowing our backgrounds as jw's what is your viewpoint on this highly debated issue?
I am pro-choice.
and hence the kids end up being abused or neglected.
I was in and out of foster homes and group homes as a kid, and I saw some of the most awful things parents could do to their children.
Also, I know that if abortions were made illegal, they would still occur just as often. The difference will be that they will no longer be in safe, sanitary conditions with qualified doctors. We will be back to the back alley and coathanger era.
I think of my 11-year old niece, and although I hope she has the smarts to use birth control when she is older, I know that she may not. And if she ever finds herself in that situation, and decides to have an abortion, that she will have access to a safe and clean environment and a qualified doctor.
For any other people who are pro-choice...are any of you attending the "March for Choice" in Washington D.C. in April?
