Hi Mary:
With the tens of billions of dollars gone into cancer research over the last 50 years and basically, they haven't come up with anything.
At one time I would have said governments and Pharma were hand in glove and, as you know, my suspicions about using chemo led me to try alternative therapies - which almost killed me. Only when I started to use mainstream treatment did I recover.
There are many research establishments coming up with new breakthroughs almost every week now and one such is vaccination therapy which targets the cancer and leaves the rest of the body alone, unlike chemo. I've already used one vaccination therapy which successfully put me into remission but I still had to have an allogeneic stem cell transplant for a potential cure. The point is, stem cell and genetic therapies are proving to work and the researchers don't need big Pharma. There's always going to be conspiracy theories but after what I've been through and experienced I'll put my hands in mainstream medicine.
That's not to say alternative therapies don't have their place - but I would suggest using them alongside traditional medicine rather than on their own.
Glad you're here to write about your own experiences!!

Found this on Quackwatch:
A federal magistrate has ordered Christian Brothers, of Whitestone, New York, and its president Jason Vale, to stop abusing America Online's network and trademark in an attempt to sell products. Court documents indicate that the company had unlawfully obtained mailing lists of the e-mail addresses of AOL members and used AOL's computer networks to send more than 20 million messages -- at times sending hundreds of thousands of messages per hour [1].
The company's product line includes apricot seeds, amygdalin, and a book and a videotape that promote them. Amygdalin is a cyanide-containing compound found in the seeds of apricots and several other fruits. Also marketed as laetrile or "Vitamin B17," it has been promoted as a cancer remedy for more than 40 years. However, it is neither safe nor effective and is not legal to market or import into in the United States [2].

There already is a cancer cure.
Rubbish!
And before you ask, NO I haven't read the book - but I've read many others books on so-called cancer cures and I've also heard about the so-called benefits of B17, Essiac tea, Kambucha, green tea, etc. I tried them ALL!!!!!
There are many good doctors out there who are genuinely interested in finding a cure for cancer and don't give a hoot about big Pharma, which is a multi-billion dollar industry. I've heard it all before and spent much money trying to cure myself with many so-called cancer cures and almost died in the process. Sure, chemo is dreadfully barbaric and poisons the system - but it's the best the medical profession has at the moment. However, with wonderful new breakthroughs in science, such as that above AND stem cell research, we are getting there.
No offence, but I have my suspicions about "cancer cure" books. The number of people who beat cancer using alternative therapies is minuscule - and it may not even be those therapies that does it!

Karl,
Those are really terrific photos. What a cutey!!
As soon as Megan is better you must get her to post again - and start saving for the 'ApostaScotland' It'd be lovely to meet up.
Ian
in a sense its my fault, i made her take a look in the loft to see what she wanted me to take down.
anyway while she was perched on top of the ladder, she slipped back and banged her head/neck/back.
she is ok, up, smiling and joking compared to before when things looked quite serious.
Hi Karl,
You do seem to be having a really bad run of luck. I very much hope Megan recovers quickly, but these things take time - so YOU'LL be doing more running around than usual
Which hospital is/was she in?
Best wishes,
Ian
if the exile wasn't to be 70 years, how is jeremiah 29:10 explained by pro-587 folks?.
10 "for this is what jehovah has said, in accord with the fulfilling of seventy years at babylon i shall turn my attention to you people, and i will establish toward you my good word in bringing you back to this place.. .
also, if it truly was a 70-year period of servitude, and not exile, when was this 70 years served by other nations?.

Josephus and the Bible agree as to the fact that the seventy years ran from the Fall of Jerusalem until the Return. Certainly. Nebuchadnezzer took Jewish captives in his 23 rd year but these were not from Judah. Judah was completely destroyed and desolated in the 18th regnal year of Nebuchanezzer which is exactly what the Bible writers depicted.
Josephus does not connect the last deportation with the seventy years as you claim because those Jews were not in Judah at that time but elesewhere. Josephus nowhere begins the seventy years from any other event excepting from the destruction of Judah, Jerusalem and the Temple. Your claim are simply mistaken and misleading so just stick to the facts.

Jeremiah 44:14, 28 clearly show that those who "escaped from the sword" who had run down to Egypt were to return to Judea:
Jer 44:14 "And there will come to be no escapee or survivor for the remnant of Judah who are entering in to reside there as aliens, in
the land of Egypt, even to return to the land of Judah to which they are lifting up their soul[ful desire] to return in order to dwell; for they will not return, except some escaped ones.'"
JER 44:28 "And as for the ones escaping from the sword, they will return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number; and all those of the remnant of Judah, who are coming into the land of Egypt to reside there as aliens, will certainly know whose word comes true, that from me or that from them."'
These two verses contradict what you are claiming. In order for your view to work, Judah had to be completely desolated after the destruction of Jerusalem. That doesn't work if they return in the 23rd year, which is precisely what occurred. Where, exactly, do these deported in the 23rd year come from?
a friend (someone i respected a great deal / mentor) at my job has shared some information with me.
he cheats on his wife.
wow!!.
Personally, I have never cheated on my wife of 15 years
I think you have answered your own question!
However, I'll bite. I have been happily married for 29 years next month and in all that time, and even during our courtship, I never once cheated on my wife. When I was at college and also at work the chances to cheat were there. They always will be. The point is, if you truly love your woman and she loves you the biggest betrayal one can do is to cheat on them. I think it says a lot about a person and their relationship if they can walk away from a chance to cheat.
