even when we dismiss the bible,belief in an original paradise that was lost because of sin was wide-spread among the ancient babylonians,assyrians, egyptians,and others.common to many accounts was a tree of life the fruit of which would confer eternal life on those partaking of it.so mankind remembera that something tragic happened in eden.. scientists acknowledge that the human race is a single family with a common origin.. so,bible or not,could there be any truth,proof,about this event,is it possible to have eternal life on earth or, are the stories among the ancients only myths?.

I agree with SYN. Pigmies also have a similar myth. They also believe in some sort of christ, similar to the "Gospelian" christ.

Help With Cancer Treatment

my dad is a jw and has recently been diagnosed with chondrosarcoma (type of bone cancer), the oncologist says the only way to treat this is to cut off his leg and part of his pelvic bone.

since he will not accept blood transfusion, the doctor will not perform the surgery because of the high risk of him not making it through the surgery.

he has found an alternative doctor that has given him a lot of hope and started him on a natural chemo, various vitamins and a nutritional plan.

mmm? is it called orthomolecular medicine? If it is, it can be very efective treating cancer.....

why i can't anymore : sorry for my poor english, but i've tried hard !!

since the beginning of the time, till the 19th century and more, most of stories and songs for kids, was made to scary them with a moral at the end.

to me, the bible is one of kind of that type of book (for children we are inside).

I'm sorry frenchbabyface, I don't speak french, I speak spanish, and chinese(weird, isn't it, I learned chinese in order to witness the chinese comunity here in Spain, I was in the chinese congregation), I also can writte a little english. I've studied french for a year in high school, but then started my own dark age, I became severely depressed, and I dropped it.

i'm writting this post to comunicate you all that i finally da myself.

now it is a hard time for me.

the announcement was made this last friday, and i have known that there was a lot of people crying after that meeting.

I'm writting this post to comunicate you all that I finally DA myself. Now it is a hard time for me. The announcement was made this last friday, and I have known that there was a lot of people crying after that meeting. I feel VERY sorry for them, I find it so unfair, me suffering the lost of my friends, and they also suffering for me..... I'm also very afraid of the "world", I'm a shy person. My personal experience with my congregation is positive. It seems that they are specially open-minded. This has something to do with the elders spirit of my ex-cong. For example, I was alowed to bear a beard (a goatee), and at the same time serve as a attendant in the main hall of the Circuit Assembly, I also was alowed to do taichi, I personally know the elders (some of then are/was my friends) and they are of the sincere/no pharisee like/ type. Before, they make the announcement, I was visited by two elders, one of them was about to cry. (He is a sincere man, I feel sorry for him, he has been depressed for 20 years, and his wife has cancer) I think this congregation spirit is far better than the Organization as a whole. (or much better than the spirit that the Org promulgates)

This made my decision harder to make. But I can't endure it anymore, I don't belive it, JW aren't better that anyone, I've seen the hipocresy, the inconsistencies, and the lies, and the absurdities. I can believe in this religion anymore, I've been doing research for several years, I've overcome a lot of fears (fear of armagedon, fear of being wrong, fear of demons, etc...), I've also losed something (a glorious vision of future, a whole world view, a lot of friends, a God, etc...) I also gained my freedom. I'm free to think, I'm free to explore ideas, that makes happy, my familty ,even though they are JW, support me, they won't shun me, even my sister in law respect my decision and treat me with dignity. I think that I'm lucky.

I will post my personal history soon. (Evidently, english isn's my mother language, and it is not easy to me to write in english,)

There are a lot of information. I think you can buy some books, because it is a very extensive subject, and do some research.

I agree with you, sometimes I miss "God", but the moral quality of Jehovah as is pictured by the Bible is lower than today standards, reflecting what He really was, the tribal war god of Israel.

I'm sorry for those that still belive in the bible as the word of god, if this that I'm saying hurts them, but if you drop the axiom "the bible is a monolith, present a coherent thelogical framework" you will see It merely reflects the evolution of the Israel's spirituality, and how they receive the influence of the nations around them. At first they don't believe in an inmortal soul, after they had contact with helenism, and zoroastrism, they started to believe in an inmortal soul, heaven and hell, satan, final judgement, etc... the first enemy of Israel wasn't Satan, who is absent in the first books of the bible (that the snake Is satan is an ad hoc conclusion), were the other nations.

Chistianity is just another pagan religion, just another version of the obiquos mythos. I doubt even there was an historical Jesus. The first christians were semi-gnostics, as Paul (not all the epistoles ascribed to Paul, were written by him, those were writtem by him, reflect that Paul was a gnostic, the letters don't have any REAL mention of a historical Jesus, is just a spiritual Christ, another God-saviour like the others, Mithras, Orpheus, Isis, Atis, Dyonisious, that exist in a spiritual plane, and dies in a spitritual plane, is just another Sun of God) The Gospels were written after, and carnalized Chist. (I think to the benefit of Rome)

I think that the informed people will be eventualy dropping this believe in the bible... (Scientific progress is similar, when a new theory emerges, and it's proved plausible, and more comprensive, only when the last of the former paradigm suporters dies It is fully accepted) The bible had has it's time.... but now is the time to look forward......

Personaly, I can't accept the existence of a personal God, in the traditional sense. Maybe Freud was right, when he said that is merely our longing for a Big Father, who takes the role of our father in our childhood, that creates God. But still there is the mistery of existence.... (Big Bang theory is mathematically exact, but a too far reaching extrapolation, whith unknown primogenial states of matter that haven't been observed, I think that this is also a myth, and today scientific stablishment has become to conservative and dogmatic) I think that in our concept of time and casuality lies the problem to understand existece

what is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?

we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.

for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

There are some chimpanzees that have been trained to be able to comunicate with humans using a graphic symbolic language, you may also know the gorilla Koko, that use sing language. These experiments have demonstrated that these animals are conscious beings, ans have emphaty to some degree.

How a JW elder expain this:"Jehovah created them to help humans in the harvest work and gathering fruits."

This same elder explain the existence of dinosaurs:
"Jehovah created them to compact the ground (they are big and had big feet) or to eat the excess of vegetation, when their asigned work was done god no longer needed them" (I don't know if this translation is good)

I wonder if Jehovah created worms to serve fishers in their work.
