I can't even have an intelligent conversation about this with my wife. Anytime ANYTHING negative isbrought up against the WT she goes into a tirade just as JC's dad does.
Now, she doesn't even broach the subject of WT nonsense to me.

how many here ever dated a "worldly" person, while still a jw?
I mean why waste time going out with a girl who kept an aspirin firmly clamped between her knees
I beleive that's just a myth perpetrated by JW PR. JW girls are just as likely to "give up the goods" as any other girl out there....given time.
as a faithful and zealous witness, nothing can question your faith.
but one day, something does!
you begin to have doubts.
Can someone point me to the Bulgarian Blood Compromise info.
it's march 31. last day of the big round-up, isn't it?.
well i haven't seen the merest hint of a shepherds crook, let alone a crooked shepherd.
and you'd think i'd be an easy mark, what with the jw wife to let the elders in.
Had one visit very early in the year. I figured it was them and yelled an expletive at the door. I was already irritated by something and was not in the mood. My jw wife went to the door, talked to them for a little while and they left. Haven't heard from them since.
the article appeared in the new york times and other papers, but the nyt got his age wrong.
he is 82, not 72.. here is the link:.

They most probably were looking for him around the complex and upon not finding him, realized that their old Jedi Master had just faded away...
runningman's post on the fallacies of the watchtower reasonings started me thinking on the gb's stand on higher education.
i am impressed with the superb thinking ability of many who post here.
unclebruce, stephanus, victor_e, gamaliel, blondie, undisfellowshipped, and machislopp to name just a few.
Their stand on education hadn't changed when I decided to go back to school in '94. I had elders at my home every other weekend for three months straight telling me I was wasting my time and that my time would be better spent on the ministry so close to the end. Elders who were already living good driving fancy cars and living in big houses, but I was supposed to be content with my "burger flipping" job in pursuit of their interpretation of spiritual goals.
i called my mom sunday for a little talk.
our weekly phone calls were curtailed severely by them after the recent crackdown by the empire.
but i still get one in every once in a while.. she brought up the war in iraq and in what came across to me as an unorganized halfhearted attempt, tried to use it to go into "the end".
I didn't even get to my "mother of all bombs", which was the change in the "Generation" teaching.
Ahh....the MOAB generation teaching.......
I am inactive, my wife is a die hard dubbie, and my bil is studying. Well, he's been studying for about ten years straight that I know of but that's another story. Recently he came over to my house and we got into a conversation about the change in the generation doctrine and how profound an effect that will have on the other house of cards interpretations of the Soceity. The more we discussed it the angrier my wife got, I think because she just didn't see the implications of such a change. She desperately believes just about anything coming from the ivory tower oin Brooklyn. Later that evening, I was chastised for never having anything positive to say about the organization. I told her that she should think more objectively tham emotionally about the org.
Hopefully, you'll fare better with your mom.
for me, it's the "faithful and discreet slave class".
Believing that the "end" was coming soon and that my "ministry" of pushing worthless magazines door to door would get me through to the new system.
It's as if I've woken up from a long nightmare.
dear (jw-brother), .
i was pleased and pleasantly surprised to receive your thoughtful letter.
thank you for your concern and for taking the time to write.
Great letter...wonderfully written....
since the last 6 weeks, the elders are trying to get a hold of me, but i specialize in being invisible.
so now they left a little paper at my door asking that i call elder x so that he can talk to me.
do you think i should keep on avoiding them since they are about to end their 3 month call on inactive ones?
You asking that question implies that you owe them an explanation for your activities.
YOU DON'T!!!!1
If you don't want to talk to them...why even bother reading the note.
