Whats a "Q45" ??
A Q45 is a very high end luxury car built by Infiniti, a division of Nissan Motors..
On the allowance they are said to be getting, there is no way any official in the WT should be able to afford a car like that.
how much money do co's make?
our co is coming this week, i'm just going on sunday, so i was just thinking.

i'd like to know what you think of the "all important, life saving preaching work".
even if this preaching was considered a success, it would not be able to save the billions of people on this earth.
recently, my mother told me how she believe that jehovah god is patiently keeping the door open, since every year, new ones come into the "truth".
When I was mechanically going from door to door, I felt more like a salesman than a lifesaver.
boy..ain't that the truth.
There is a remarkable similarity between the JWs approach to the D2D work and the way salesman canvass neighborhoods selling everything from auto repair coupons to kirby vacuum cleaners. Of course they'll deny the comparison by claiming that they aren't actually "selling" anything, but that in itself is just a play on words.
My die hard dubby wife delights in seeing families sweltering in the hot sun going D2D in our neighborhood yet she NEVER, EVER goes out herself anymore. If pressed about this she always have a mouthful of excuses which is fine with me since I'd rather have her spending what would otherwise be wasted time with me. I think she's waiting for me to "take the lead" in this activity. She still has it in her heart that one day I'll come back to the "troof". What she doesn't know is that hell will quite literally have to freeze over before I ever take part in that activity or organization again.
.
.
yeah... i do it all the time... sitting at work... but instead of working i'm reading and posting here.. anyone else guilty of this?
All the time
we all had the same teachings when we joined the jw's.
we all studied the same books and magazines and all came to the same conclusion that this had to be god's organization.
we were told how god would establish a new world where we would all be healthy and eternal.
I have known of a number of elders, one even a Prwesiding overseer, whose children committed a disfellowshipping act, daughters getting pregnant or sons getting sisters pregnant, and what do they do, they ship them out to live with relatives, so they can keep their positions and not have to step down because they could not control their children.
I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've seen this scenario played out within the circle of JW's I know. Every elder I know systematically kicked all their kids who weren't baptised or faviorably progressing in the "troof" out of the house at ages 17 or 18. Numerous elder daughters disappearing inexplicably from halls never to be seen or spoken of again.
I know of at least one JW elder whose wife chose to visit a close relative halfway across the country in order to spend time before they died. Incensed that she'd dared to not show "proper submission" and forego the trip on his orders, he made a surprise appearance there on the very day the relative died so as to "catch her in the act" impueing that her motives were less than pure.
So does that mean that the only reason they serve Jehovah God and not follow some other God in some other religion is because Jehovah offers them the best deal? Is Jehovah the used car salesman of the religious world? Do they only love and worship him for what they can get out of it? Isn't that what Satan said about Job?
I've often asked JWs this when they imply that if you left the WTS, where would you go. It is only after a few minutes of getting that "deer in the headlights" look that they realize that they've let slip their primary motive for staying with the WT. Regardless to how much they profess to "Love Jehovah" it's "the deal" that they not only always present first when looking for converts, but also unwittingly fall back on when you challenge WT dogma.
this should certainly bring some very interesting and humorous responses - so go for it.
I would become a jw only if ... Britney or Shania was in our congregation
Shania
uuuuummmmmmmmm
Good looking woman.....

I was allowed to empty a 9mm clip in my head first.
i've been out of it for 9 years now and i still feel guilty.
my mum majored in emotional blackmail which is why i pioneered when i left school instead of going to college like i was desperate to do.
i couldn't bear to upset my mum.
When I showed up for the reception the elders instructed my dad to have me removed... you know... the "don't eat with 'em" rule.
Shocking bulllying tactic. I think I wouldn've made it a point to insist that they call security to show those non-JW in attendance how microcontrolling this organization is. I would've made sure that they were just as unconfortable as they were trying to make me feel.

The one thing I have noticed about all this is that the JWs always seem to want contact when it is to their advantage as far as necessary business goes.but if you have business with them, unless they can conceive of getting something out of it, they want nothing to do with it.
prisca's topic about personal responsibility vs blaming the jws (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/56286/824979/post.ashx#824979) got me to thinking..... where do you think you'd be if the jws and the wts had never been part of your life?how would your life be different from what it is now?what do you think you might have accomplished or done differently without the encumberances of the jws in your life?what kind of relationship would you have with your family?who would you be?.
there are no right or wrong answers, but think about those what-i-want-to-be-when-i-grow-up ideas you had as children and whether those dreams could have become a reality.. .
love, scully
- Where do you think you'd be if the JWs and the WTS had never been part of your life?
- How would your life be different from what it is now?
- What do you think you might have accomplished or done differently without the encumberances of the JWs in your life?
- What kind of relationship would you have with your family?
- Who would you be?
I remember my first contact with a group of elders.......
After a few years of marriage, my wife, after jumping from job to job and feeling guilty that she wasn't I guess spiritual enough or progressing fast enough in her life, had me accompany her to a meeting she'd set up with the elder body of the congregation whose territory we lived in. Right after they closed the door and after introductions, the big crocodile tears began to flow from her almost on cue and she started talking about things I can't even remember now, and they, the elders, looked at me and asked me did I know that she felt this way. Yes, the implications started that very day. They set her up as a study with two older pioneer partners and so began my life continueing this day of WT meddling and JW self-righteous sanctimonious arrogance.
Oh.....if I knew then what I know now...........
Can't say for sure how my life would be as far as relationships with family goes but I can surely say that I would've accomplished more had I not been introduced to dubdom. I certainly would've went to school earlier. I would've spent more time doing things I enjoyed, rather than going to useless meetings and being held back by self-serving and shifting organization "trooths". I wouldn't have spent a year studying, being baptised...ummmm pledging allegiance to the organization, spent any time constantly trying to measure up to standards of living imposed by people far removed from the realities of life.
I realize how hard headed I was to not heed the warnings my family gave me about getting involved with the WTBS. But with only rumour and innuendo, they were not armed with enough knowledge to present the darker side of life as a dub.
so, my s/o found a watchtower stuffed in our door, you know, the usual nobody-is-home-gotta-get-rid-of-these-things type deal.
we didn't even hear the knocking on the door.
(oh the joys of sleeping in on a saturday morning-no field service!).
My wife had her circus dis-assembly last week, and by the time Sunday rolled around she was dragon-ass big time. She really did not want to go another day, she even said so. Yet somehow she forced herself to go once again. After she left that Sunday morning, I picked up her still warm half full cup of coffee and began feeling quite sad for her. After a time that feeling passed as I sipped what was now my own coffee and opened the morning paper. As I was skimming the paper I thought about just how harried and unnatural the JW lifestyle is. And in contrast I thought about just how wonderful it was to sleep-in, to read the paper, or do anything I pleased because after all it’s now my time, and it’s now my life. I don't live to please a book publishing empire anymore!
My wife does this same thing. She'll grudgingly drag herself out of bed, spend an hour getting dressed and putting on makeup, and force herself to go to meetings and then try to induce a little guilt in me and our kid by giving me disapproving looks both on her way out and in after the meeting. I've long since gotten over and have learned to ignore those little guilt trips she tries to induce on me, but, I often feel so very sad for her that she feels so unaturally compelled to attend those meetings all the while pretending in the end that they were so "spiritually refreshing" and "timely".
