It wouldn't be surprising if that came out as the "official" statement in another 10 years or so, especially now that he has passed and is unable to defend himself.

Ray Franz blamed for 1975 false prophecy
by EndofMysteries ini was raised a jw and as a kid my family made brief mention of apostates in bethel that falsely prophecied about 1975 and were kicked out of bethel.
i was shocked after i got out and learned that him being removed had absolutely nothing to do with 1975. i think that partial lie spread is what kept my relatives in.
1975 a big let down/false prophecy, then they are told that a governing body member and many in bethel are found apostate and cleaned out, etc.

Quick Poll - How many are...
by mrhhome inhow many here are (a) ex-jw, (b) non-jw with jw relatives or spouses, (c) inactive jw, or (d) active jw who stay in for your own reasons?.
-
pronomono
Can I say all of the above?
A) In my heart, I'm definitely an ex-JW.
B) As an ex, I'm a non-JW, but have a mother, sister, and wife that are still in, as well as a very close friend.
C) Technically, I'm inactive, because most of the time I count for witnessing probably wouldn't be allowed and I didn't knock on one door for the past two months.
D) But on paper I get a few hours a month that says I'm active, only because my conscience allows me to count a lot of informal witnessing that the elders probably wouldn't allow if they knew.
I do it all for the family, but probably not much longer. My best friend is already joking about me being an apostate. Hopefully, the jokes will help him get past shunning me when that time comes.

I had an interesting dream last night.
In my dream, I decided to visit another church for the first time, although I'm not sure what denomination this church was. As we were leaving from the Sunday morning service, I saw my long-time friend and mentor (let's call hime Bro. Wales). I stopped Bro. Wales to see how he was doing and what he was doing here, asking polite non-invasive questions to get the information I was seeking. Turns out he stopped going to the KH months ago due to issues that he had seen as an elder. After deep prayer and meditation, he came to the conclusion that in the end, we all have to answer to God and Jesus, and because of this we must maintain a clean conscience. He couldn't do that and stay at the KH with the issues that he had discovered. We took a minute and talked about old times and how our families were. In the end, I asked how he was dealing with the elders from his old congregation, and he said that he simply moved to another state. He thought it better to remove himself from the situation.
Then in my dream, I went to sleep and woke up to complete destruction. Helicopters were flying overhead. Explosions were shaking the ground. My wife and I went outside and got in our car to see what was happening. We were stopped at an army checkpoint where we were hurried into a refuge camp. Then dinosaurs appeared, ravaging the camp. My wife and I escaped on a small boat and went downstream to a neighboring village, where we met a kind lady that gave us a room for the night and showed us her invention of a clock that works by measuring the earth's electromagnetic frequencies at the various stages of earth's 24-hour rotation.
Then my alarm clock went off. Yeah, I have some pretty wild dreams. I had a very vivid imagination as a child that still haunts me a night, but the first half of my dream made a lot of sense to me. If you can't fulfill your obligations to your current church in good conscience, how can you ever expect to have God's favor?

Cheers! Here's to lost opportunities and forgotten memories.
by pronomono init's 1am and i'm halfway through a glass of brandy.
i've been cleaning out the closet (literally), and reminiscing about old times and decisions i didn't make.
it's times like these i regret being brought up as a witness the most.

We all truly do have a lot to be thankful for.
This morning was better than the other. The results of cleaning out the closet, past memories and relics, were picked up with the usual household garbage and are on their way to the landfill. It's hard to move on when you have pictures, notes, and other items with memories attached close to your heart. Getting rid of these items, for me, was a necessary step in moving on..... and it feels good. I wound up with a big yard trash garbage bag full of junk and a lot less clutter.
This has really been an encouraging thread for me to read. Thank you all for making it what it is.
On a side note, my best friend called me out on being apostate the other night while we were talking about the new light. I brought up the question with these new changes, how can we know for sure what else we believe needs to be changed and how it will be interesting to see what new changes come about. He jokingly said that I was losing my faith and would soon be apostate. It was a joke, but he probably doesn't realize how close he is to the truth.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement all. I'm sorry to hear about your sister, LoisLane. My thoughts are with you.
I really do have a lot to be thankful for. I know my thoughts and feelings aren't unique. Looking over previous posts is encouraging seeing what you all have done to cope. It's just different when you are the one fighting the emotions and mental anguish. As has been said before by others one foot in and one foot out the door, it's a lose-lose situation. But by staying in the organization, you lose more. Learning to cope with the immediate losses and moving on from past regrets is the toughest part for me.
Thanks, all.

Thanks, Simon. I needed that. The first two verses hit the nail on the head. It's time for a change in outlook.

It's times like these I regret being brought up as a witness the most. I love my wife, but she's not the one I'd have chosen if it wasn't for my faith. Looking through old school albums, seeing my best high school "girl" friend and now seeing her 10 years later on FB, I wish that I had taken that leap, forsaken my faith for love. It would have been worth it for her. But alas, I'm stuck in the here and now. Bottoms up. Here's to love lost and missed opportunities thanks to the WTBTS. Love you all.

second study article July 15th 2013
by inbetween inlast weekend congos around the world studied the second artcile of the famous wt 15th july.. it dealt with the prohecy in matthew 13 about the weeds and the wheat.. while they claim, that the gathering in the storehouse took place after 1914, the gathering to the kingdom of heaven will be right before armageddon.
what they did not mention, was when the resurrection of already dead anointed will happen.
why some of them shine brightly in the kingdom, while others are still on earth ?.

Ah. The weeds and the wheat. The JW excuse that says there were alway anointed, we just don't know who they were because of the wheat.

JW.org FAQ - a new video on "Are Only Jehovah's Witnesses going to be saved?"
by RayPublisher injw.org faq trickery #1 - are only jehovah's witnesses going to be saved?.
from the description:.
if you have been associated for any length of time with the jehovah's witnesses you know that they believe they are the only true religion and the only ones that will be saved before the war of armageddon.

When I was more "in" than "half-way out", I never truly believed this. And my uber-spiritual best friend confirmed last week that he doesn't believe this either. There are others with the right heart condition that fully believe they are on the right path and are serving God whole-heartedly. I am fully confident that if there is a God, that he looks on their efforts with a happy heart, even if some aspects of their worship are wrong based on misconceptions. No religion has it right. Not even us-them JWs, hence the new light.

Are your Ready for Sunday's WT...1914...
by Legacy into all who are still active...& those who are not...... is everyone ready for wt for sunday....1914....is everyone ready to see the friends faces, that will pretend all is well.
but their minds will be racing.
i started the article...talk about confusing...but maybe on purpose only a few in the hall will be able to break it down.

The further you read the more confusing it gets. For example, look at these quotes.
Pg 8, Par 19: "Finally, we examined why Jesus’ arrival to appoint the faithful slave over all his belongings did not occur in 1919 but will take place during the great tribulation."
Pg 23, Par 12: "In 1919, a time of spiritual revival, Jesus selected capable anointed brothers from among them to be the faithful and discreet slave and appointed them over his domestics."First, they say it happened (previous literature). Then they say it didn't happen (new light). And then a few articles later they say it did happen. Looking at the articles as a whole, I THINK they are trying to say that there is a dual fulfillment, one in 1919 and a future fulfillment during the great tribulation. I find no scriptural basis for this other than reading between the confusing lines.
