Did the "local needs" talk also warn the 'young sisters' not to marry anyone 23 or older who is not a MS. Remember what 'tight pants Tony', a brother of Christ, (yea right) told the entire worldwide brotherhood. His warning must be heeded.

recently someone asked me to define what core teachings have such a hold on jdubs that they have trouble breaking free.
trying to single out the driving force that keeps them in the borg, this is what popped into my head:.
obviously there are lots and lots of wacky things the jdubs teach/believe/pretend to believe.
The wtbts, i.e. jw's have no CORE teachings. What ever they 'make up' (nu-lite) as they go along perpetuating the org. is their core teaching. Their core teachings are core-rupt for sure!

I'm 68 years old and it took 64 years before I finally 'broke the spell' of the wtbts. Of course I had doubts along the way but when ttatt really hits, drastic changes can occur. Like your dad, I would have shunned my 'inactive' children before ttatt finally set in for me.

wt doctrine now says that there was no faithful feeding slave at pentecost, in apostolic times, ---but there is now, since 1919. previously they taught there was always a slave feeding -sometimes unknown , but an unbroken, if sporadic lineage.. while the early, and later christians (in this doctrine) had no discreet slave, they had a governing body.
the tradition of a (wt) governing body is older then the idea of "feeding my sheep".. governance over care.. are they working on an unbroken if sporadic governance of the congregation too?
we still feel the reverberations, consequences of the talking snake too.. .
Could the 7 member GB possibly be the 7 headed beast of Revelation chaps 12 and 17? If you add up all those rings and 'pinky' rings that they wear, it could add up to the symbolic '10 horns'!

That thought has long bothered me even though I have said it many times myself. I spent 20 years as an elder (off and on) but after the 1995 "generation" change, forced by the expiration date of the 80 year generation, I began to have very serious doubts, not just the normal jw doubts that all jw's have. I began to question just about everything and especially the many changes regarding 'blood fractions', more 'generation' changes, FDS is now the GB, etc. I was suffering from advanced cognitive dissonance and basically quit attending meetings and no FS at all.
My 'drifting away' triggered a visit from a couple of brothers (friends of mine). After their usual "we miss you" and "what's wrong" stuff, I explained how I felt and the doubts I had. Of course, their reply was "Wait on Jehovah!" .
"Ok" I answered. Then I asked them, "Does waiting on Jehovah apply to all JW's or just the rank and file witnesses?" Again the standard answer from the elders was that, "Waiting on Jehovah" applies to all witnesses.
My reply was, "Then why doesn't the GB "Wait on Jehovah" to provide the correct understanding of bible teachings beforethey publish them in the WT literature and then have the rank and file go out and teach others things that are wrong?"
That was the last I have heard from them althoug I occasionally atteng a meeting to 'keep up appearances' for my wife. Happy to say that see is now beginning to wake up also.

my husband and i have been out of the org for quite some time, but still find that old ideas and values come up and bite us on the ass.. lately, i've been plagued by an increase in the frequency and severity of my nightmares (which have always been an issue,) so i've begun to dream journal.
in just a few days, this realization cropped up.
i can't save people.. i've been blogging again recently.

The reason most of us are here is because we have, at one time or another, shared your same feelings/uncertainties. Truth is; WE can't save anyone. If there is a god, that's his responsibility. We're just imperfect, sinful, weak humans, his helpless children, right?
Think of the fable of Noah. Who did he save? Animals, that's who he saved. The SPCA is proud of him. He may have been a good ark builder (yea right), but he was a very ineffective preacher!
All those years of preaching and only his own little cult of 8 survived! lol But he was busy all those years doing the "lord's" work which was the important thing right?
Even if you actually killed someone, remember the fable of King David---the adulterer! God forgives blood guilt, or at least he should since the bible is full of accounts where he, god, spilled the blood of thousands of innocent humans.

i wonder how many jws are sexually frustrated due to the repressive views of the org?.
im sure that there are millions of messed up witnesses who have been severely damaged due to the teachings and guilt that the org places on all members.. now, i'm not encouraging a reckless lifestyle, but i'm sure so many more problems are experienced by witnesses just because of the suppressed and guilt laden attitudes the org has perpetuated!
they can even be open in their marriages!.

Always enjoy your comments and insight. I suspect that we are about the same age since I was also a caught up in the Vietnam War fiasco in 1969-71. I lived in California and the sentence that a lot of us California JW's received was: '2 years working in a community hospital'. I guess the prisons were too full of real criminals. lol

I attended the 1 day with my wife last weekend. What I found interesting was their was no mention or reference, at all, to ANYTHING that Tony or Sammy talked about during the Zone Visit fiasco. Nothing about 'tight pants, spanx, or for sisters to only marry a MS'. Wow! Even the CO's must still be trying to assimulate that crap from the Zone Visit talks. lol Or are the CO's just ignoring the words of the words of Christ's brothers?
