so, what's the purpose of the change in the jw nwt?
are they re-writing everything to go along with their new light?
Jah and the GB only love the English speaking brothers, so it seems. Since JW's are an American religion, I guess it makes sense to have a bunch of hoopla about a "SPECIAL" meeting and only the English speaking brothers get a "new" bible.

Everyone is so giddy and gushy about how loving our God an and the GB are for providing the new 'Silver Sword'. LOL
As I have subtly pointed out to my wife and family, Jah and the GB must love the English speaking brothers more that all else since the Sliver Sord is only available in English. They made such a big deal out of the AGM but only the English speakers benefitted! LOL

when i was a kiddo growing up, i wasn't one of those that we all heard at assemblies giving their experiences... "here, let me show you the answer from the bible..." <reaching into their a** bringing out a bible>.
no, i would sit there in the audience, and think... that person has balls to do that.. when i went to grade school, i tried to keep as low of a profile as possible.
it was bad enough that i had to start the day by not saying the pledge of allegience like all the other school kids.

I agree that you have acurately described many of us here on this forum. Growing up in the JW cult wasn't all bad but it did stunt our emotional growth and limit our view of the real world. As I look back now, I see that Rutherford and Freddy did everything they could to make JW's different. All the crazy stuff that they came up with was the opposite of 'normal' behavior. Anything that Christian religions practiced, Rutherford found a way to do or teach the opposite. Even the non Christian name 'Jehovah's Witnesses'. Rutherford chose a weird name that had to be so different so he could put his 'brand' on the religion. JW's are good people for the most part. Too bad we were raised in a cult.

it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.
in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.
i could not work out who were the jws attending them.
There is no Biblical preaching any more. It's all about getting in HOURS. Cruising around to do a few rv's and getting coffee. As our recent CO said, 'It's about being with the brothers and sisters". He mentioned in his service talk Tuesday that he and his wife were certainly not opposed to the 'occasional' coffee break.

he and his wife took all the hundreds of books, including bound volumes from the 1800s and are now using them for research and proof of watchtower lies.. what did you do with your books?.
They are collectors item. Sell them on ebay or Craigslist!
from time to time i hear or read xjw's talk about scripture verses that they struggled to reconcile with whatever current watchtower teaching was on a given subject.
most christians see new light as a conjured up interpretation by the watchtower to revise or sweep away any prophetic pronouncement or misinterpretation that proves to be false, the generation changes to site one example.
one night some time ago when i let my jw wife know my true feelings regarding the watchtower's claim of authority, i sited eph 4: 11-14 "and he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for the building up the body of christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the som of god, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of christ, so that we may no longer be infants, tossed by waves ans swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human tickery, from their cunning in the interests of decietful scheming".
Paranoia reigns supreme! After the 4 part 'nu lite' bombshell WT, you don't heard anyone discussing this "wonderful nu lite". The typical KH buzz was not there after meetings. I have been with a few of my former 'fellow elders' (I'm not and elder any longer) after the meeting in the past few weeks; silence about the 'nu lite'. They know that I know that they know that all this 'nu lite' is troubling and distrubing.
The 'special' AGM is a bunch of hype to calm the many disturbed brothers and sisters. Hype and stirring up expectations of nothing is what the WT has become. Psalm 146:3 "Do NOT put your TRUST in nobles (gb?)..............to whom NO salvation belongs".
we've all heard the saying, "everybody is entitled to their own opinion--but--not to their own facts.".
we all have our own idea of what is tasteful, what is funny, what is fair and all that is called our opinion.. but, when a group of self-important men start demanding our loyalty because they represent god's truth---what prevents.
us from saying politely, "well--that is just your opinion"?.
Here's a saying I heard a while back

if the governing body was truly convinced themselves of the impending disaster and the fact that the end is imminent would they not focus their efforts in spreading the message through effective means such as telephone, television, internet, social networks etc?
Doing d2d work still keeps JW's 'under the radar' so to speak. If JW's went to broadcasting like Harold Camping did, they would be exposed just like he was exposed as a 'dooms dayer'. I hope that soon there will be a "20/20" or "Dateline" expose' of the witness cult. I saw a program a few weeks ago about the FLDS in Utah and Texas. I was struck by the words of the the mother of the female FLDS member who left and exposed the cult. The 19 year old woman that escaped was one of 19 wives of the 85 year old FLDS "prophet". But the point that resonated with me was what this woman's mother said. In essence she said that she 'would rather see her children in their graves than to have them deny their "prophet"'. Sounded 'to close to home'.

told my husband to put a muzzle on my mouth over the blood dogma.
we all were driving around in field service when the topic of "which fragments would you take if you were in a car accident or cut yourself badly".
said his choice is a personal one, another sister with chronic health problems said she had no problem with the governing body's new light on taking various fragments.

I know what you mean by how your wife reacted. I had a similar experience. Wife and I were talking and I brought up how hypocritical the WTBTS is on the blood issue. We can take but not give. I also threw in the fact that, according to WT doctrine clearly stated on page 71 of the 'Reasoning' book, "Only sacrificial use of blood has ever been approved by God" . She agreed. I asked her if she ever had a blood test and what happens to that blood after it is used for medical reasons. She swallowed a bug.
