JWS moving into the 2010s: GREATER FOCUS ON "PUBLIC' VENUE PREACHING

increasingly, jw.org and its print publications show lots of pictures of witnesses preaching one-to-one to "interested" passersby in public venues in contrast with fewer pictures depicting the door-to-door work.

sure, d-t-d is still the organizatrion's mainstay activity - but clearly it pushes at every opportunity the need for the rank and file to "go" public.. this push could be a two-edge sword: there is obviously a hard core of witnesses whose dispositions draw them to this type of social outreach: they almost rush out to do this public-venue work, prefering it to d-t-d. but i'd hazard a guess that for the bulk of those in local congregations, the public-venue witnessing would be a total turn off.. to date, in new zealand, i have seen no evidence of jws doing this public venue witnessing - despite the huge push on jw.org and in the publications.

kiwis just don't seem inclined to put themselves out in public places - or if they do, it is in a kind of very muted way (i.e., almost out of sight and unobtrusive).. this site has shown that in a few places, including mexico, at least a few of the more publicly zealous witnesses are doing the public work big time.. is the public venue preaching happening elsewhere, such as asia?

My life time thoughts about Babylon the Great has fallen

since i was a very young boy (+/- 10 years old) i had thoughts when revelation 18:2 was studiyed at our kingdom hall.. babylon the great was for me new york.

the center of the world, where all cultures are comming together.. next step for me, was that new york was the center of the universe for our jehovah's witness religion.. so i was connecting babylon the great with our own religion.. now with all the topics about the connexion between the watchtower corporations with investment billions, political influance, history cleaning and rebranding their business i could imagine when the society is going down, many corporations and politicians will say "shame, shame, babylon the great has fallen...".

ok i've read similar threads to this before, but i just thought i would share a comment made by an aunt.

my aunts bible student died, and due to the families wishes the funeral service was given in another church.

my aunt with a disgusted look on her face when recalling the events to me said "and you know what, they must of only spent about 5 minutes talking about the person, and the rest of it was about the church".

the witnesses are always pointing at things and attributing them to jehovah's direction.

every religion in the world does that.

Everything good (raise in pay, new job, getting married, pioneering, new bible study, $60.00 dollars in tips when you need $60.00 to pay the rent, etc.) is the blessing of Jehovah. The angels are directing these good things. When a family gets slaughtered in Mexico, I guess Jehovah and the angels were too busy blessing other JW's to notice the problems in Mexico.

A question for those who left due to ill treatment and abuse from the WT and its cronies

i'm glad that i had biblical doubts - which led me in turn to ttatt.

happified in fact.. for those of you who escaped the wt because of abuse or malice on the part of people in your congregations: are you glad?

(obviously not glad for the abuse itself).

All JW's are abused by the WTBTS. If we have been ill-treated or abused by 'people' in the org, it's because of the way the 'people' were trained or conditioned by the WTBTS. We have all been mentally manipulated and 'dumbed down' for decades. Being kept in constant fear of the big A and the constant guilt of not doing enough. We have been intellectually insulted with the WTBTS's screwy explainations and interpretations. We have been placed in danger due to their stupid medical restrictions. But---we have allowed ourselves to be in this position. so now is the time to get the hell out.

Is their a table/list comparing what the WT & Awake magazines print that differs from their bound volumes ?

i have seen quotations from time to time that says the wt & awake magazines have been changed when the bound volumes come out , has anybody ever been able to list these changes ?

and make a comparison .?

to me this is quite deceptive , like speaking out of both sides of your mouth .if you pick them up on one thing then they quote something different , and have the printed page to prove it.surely they need to be nailed down on this.. smiddy.

We can all be thankful for the internet and the ability to 'go back' and research to see the 'slight of hand' the the WTBTS has used on us for decades. Since the internet they can't hide their 'stuff' anymore. So much has been exposed via sites such as this and I am very thankful to see ttatt.

faking of hours in field service or dragging service time out by making coffee stops or driving for hours "between" household contacts are never frowned upon, let alone mentioned, in the publications.

yet, in each congregation of jehovah's witnesses, to one degree or another, faking hours, padding time out with coffee stops and long journeys between opportunities to "witness" are endemic practices..

My wife's best friend is a 'pioneer' and they go in 'service' together often. (I have not been out in 'service' for years.) Just the other day I asked her how her field service day went. She replied that there were not many people at home so they made RV's. I asked her how much ACTUAL/REAL time was spent preaching and/or teaching during the hours they spent in 'service'.

My point of course was that JW's may spend hours going from d2d, all the while visiting and socializing, but in reality only minutes in actually preaching or talking about God and Christ. A sad waste of time!

Freddy Franz didn't like women so that's why dubs have the attitude they have toward women. To be seen but not heard. Do all the crap work so the men can shine. Yep it's the JW way. Sad but true.
