folks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.
nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.
"why bother" replaces "that's worth a try!".

is there anything in the bible that makes you believe that some or all the writings in the bible are inspired from god?.
I think that the WTBTS could easily make (up) a case the Bible is not "inspired" but "spirit directed". All JW's would then have to believe the 'nu-lite' teaching.

7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.
Hey Doc!
Are you sure that you're not dreaming? We all was told way back in 1969 that we would never get old in this system and that pursuing a college education was a waste of time. Oh! I'm sorry. It was we all that was dreaming!

in harmony with acts 6:1-7, what is the gb giving back to the r&f?
the post about the cos being retired and recent wt articles about caring for older ones made me think.
the gb is doing everything to cut costs while at the same time asking for more sacrifices.
Giving only applies to the R and F. "Do as we say not as we do!" "Listen! Obey! or be SHUNNED!"

someone told me today that at the annual meeting something was said along the lines that, we do not need to be like the boreans and search that everything is true because we know we have the truth.
can anyone confirm this?.
Can anyone confirm this? NO! Just about anything that the GB says cannot be confirmed. They are exactly like any other religion in that they 'hve the truth' and it doesn't need to be confirmed. Listen, Obey, and be Blessed. Yep!

i'm starting to believe the bethel higher ups are trolling us.
the outright contradictions and stuff like overlapping generation is too ridiculous.
calling out the harold camping when we did the same thing.
I thought that 'troll' dolls were a big no-no for JW's. So how could the GB 'troll' anything? They are much too "righteous" to 'troll'. I'm sure that the octo-pope will come up with nu-lite than will allow 'only' the FDS, aka GB to 'troll'. The rank and file----'no trolling'!

when they disfellowship someone, how do they have the audacity to say "[name] is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses."?.
being a witness of jehovah is a personal relationship between jehovah and the individual.
only jehovah and the individual know the depth and trueness of the relation that exists between them.
Let's face it! If it weren't for the cruel shunning by our family and friends, we would all be happy to have our names announced from the platform as "no longer one of Jehovah's witnesses".

i offer this with out further comment:.
12 the mosaic law made it a capital offense to profane gods name.
(leviticus 24:16).
And yet, stoning to death is what the WTBTS would do to "apostates" if the law allowed it in your country. No wonder JW's consider themselves to be the "happiest people on earth".

if memory serves there have been discussions about:.
pressure to donate to cover convention expenses far beyond actual expenses.
obtaining venue subsidies and or sponsorships but not passing on the savings to the flock.
It would be a real good thing for those still attending meetings to casually approach the elders and ask them why CA's costs are so much when the Assembly Halls have been paid off for years. I was asked that question when I was an elder, and frankly had no answer---but it did get me to thinking. Where does the money go? And why are we not being 100% honest about costs?

doctors from birmingham children's hospital applied for an order to give the baby boy blood transfusions.
a high court judge has said a baby boy can undergo blood transfusions despite his parents' objections.. the baby has complex heart disease but his parents, who are jehovah's witnesses, said they could not consent to a transfusion on religious grounds.. birmingham children's hospital had applied for an order to proceed with cardiac surgery and transfusions.. the judge, mr justice keehan, heard the boy had no "long-term prospect of survival" without the surgery.. 'best interests'.
the boy was born at the university hospital of coventry and warwickshire on 7 february and placed in special care.
You gotta know that these parents are absolutely thrilled by this ruling. All parents, even JW parents, want their children to have the absolute best chance to survive a major surgery. The judge did these parents a huge human kindness by taking this decision out of their hands. I know of at least 2 young couples that had the same thing happen to them here in California. Their children survived and are now very healthy and florishing. One of the couples admitted to me that they know that their child would have died if the court had not stepped in. They told me that they were very relieved and that they could "blame" the system for violating God's law on blood. (LOL) Amen!
A substitute CO and his wife once told my wife and I a similar story of their very best personal friend's child that had to have open heart surgery and the court stepped in and "forced" a blood transfusion. Both the CO and his wife in a subtle way admitted that the child would have died without the "forced" blood transfusion. Thank God!
