would it really affect them?
how would it affect volunteers at any construction project since that work would now be taxable.
any materials they buy would be taxable.
No need to worry about that. Didn't you guys hear---Armageddon is 'right around the corner'?

knowing ttat but still holding on to christian beliefs, was it of any value?
are they finally leaning toward being a more "christian" religion?
The name jehober was still mentioned twice as much as Jesus at the rc. It was absolutely the 'lamest' convention (video fest) I have ever attended. Even my 87 year old, uber-duber, die-hard, mom commented, "Where's the meat?" Had to laugh at that comment. We had that 'porky' little gb brother there in Long Beach, Sanderson. I think he even had a hard time trying to keep a straight face when he talked about what a "spiritual feast" we all enjoyed. 7,000+ attended---29 baptized. Man the growth is phenomenal!

personally i think this is wonderful.
i have nothing against gay people and wish them only the best.. but of course i'm in a minority of one, the jw's around me are posting away on fb the most homophobic vitriol imaginable.
a lot of them are even saying that it's the start to armageddon!!.
I can remember when 'gay' meant------happy. But then I can also remember when 'soon' meant----------soon.
O' the times they are 'a changin'!------------bobby dylan

observing our local unemployed pioneers and how long they take to get to their first or next call, usually taking the longest route to get to one they know won't be there anyway.
along the way it's gossipy this and that.
pioneers?
100 hours per month when I pioneered back in the late 60's. I was trained well by a long-time pioneer on how to s t r e t c h your time. My favorite was find a shady porch, hope no one was home, and just rehearse your 'sermon' to the householder, who's 'invisible' presence was most appreciated.

since at least back to the 1960s in canada, jws have been travelling to mexico for cancer treatment.
and, i believe, other medical treatments.
because i watched my uncle die of cancer back in 1962, unable to receive treatment because the doctors couldn't operate without blood, i have always been curious as to why the jws with cancer were going to mexico.
I live in California and know many, many jw's that have gone to TJ, Mexico for cancer, arthritis treatment. To be honest, I think it's a crap shoot. Some are helped and some just die. Cancer treatment in the USA has basically the results. I really think the excitement for many jw's in going to Mexico was the clandestine nature of having to 'smuggle' the "tonic" back across the border. Kinda like having to go "underground" because of persecution.
I just lost a very dear friend, only 51 years old, to a rare form of leukemia. The only 'real' option the US doctors offered was blood transfusions which they admitted only produced a 10% survival rate. So off to TJ, Mexico we went for the "tonic". $1,100.00 was the cost for the "tonic" and he died a week later. RIP.

im sure to use this the next time i accidentally get sucked into an argument with someone.
im not ever understanding the idea behind any christian religion picking and choosing what they want to believe and follow, then have the nerve to claim they are right, when clearly this is obviously done.
here is a site that shows not only how bloodthirsty and evil the god of the hebrew bible was, but how more ridiculous it is for jws to follow one twisted 'commandment' about eating blood, not only reading it wrong, but then not to do all the other commandments, willingly , do they think they are ancient israelites ?
One of my all time favorite bed time stories is how the Levites "lovingly" slaughtered about 150,000 animals during the inauguration of Solomon's temple. jehober, the loving god of the bible, must have been especially pleased. Wonder what they did with all the thousands of gallons of blood?

i found this video segment to be very interesting.
substitute jw for mormon and russell/rutherford for smith and you have a very good comparison.
maybe post-jw's could all meet up at a blood bank for coffee.. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/2015/06/26/june-26-2015-former-mormons/26293/.

here is a change of pace, what was the nicest thing a jw has ever done for you or you have seen done?
it wasn't all bad all the time!
With rare exceptions, it's not jw's themselves that are are bad. In fact most are just normal people that have been f*@ked over by the wtbts and the self diluted men that have been in charge. It wasn't all bad for me mainly because of the people. The bad was the stupid doctrine and distorted teachings that stifled my growth as a person. My bad for not looking sooner.

my guy with the lurk account on jwtalk (where all the kool-aid drinking jws go to talk about how wonderful 'the twoof' is) sent me some more interesting threads, here's one:.
spoiler: starting new the new service year september.
"there will be new directives from the branch through the circuit overseer on dress and grooming that will disqualify one to be a congregation publisher.
Does that mean no more "overlapping" jackets or "invisible" pants?

i recently attended the rc for my area.
while there, i encountered a old family "friend" who recently lost her jw husband.
as the interaction proceeds she relates that her grand daughter, who's around my age (early twenties) has "left jehovah".
RC in Long Beach, CA this past weekend only 29 baptized of the 7,000+ in attendance. Everyone is waking up it seems.
