  Younger Witnesses less fanatical or fundamental

  i am a born in jw for over 30 years now and have been in various positions in the organization.

  now i'm guessing most of us recognize that older generations tend to be more fundamental and less reasonable when it comes to their outlook and beliefs.

  i find this to mirror the differences you see outside of the organization as well (older people less tolerant of other religions, newer technology, lgbt, etc.).

  I'm very thankful that , even though I shoved the "troof" down my children's throats, they never got too involved! Thankfully, I was a lousy teacher!

  They go alone for the social aspect only.

  Im Writing An Ex-JW Self Help Book

  we all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.

  for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.

  we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.

  hi please can someone explain this in laymans terms for me coz i be ever got it as a jw and still don't.

  it doesn't make sense to me.

  bible chronology indicates that god’s kingdom was established in heaven in 1914. this is shown by a prophecy recorded in chapter 4 of the bible book of daniel.. overview of the prophecy.

  JW's know stuff that mere mortal do not know! They know "math magic" which can make 7=2,520! They know how to make a lunar year of 360 days magically become solar years of 365 1/4 days!

  Inconsistency involving Lot and Abraham

  when god informed of his intention of destroying the wicked inhabitants of sodom and gomorrah abraham made extensive questioning, cross-questioning and bargaining with god till he gets satisfied.

  (genesis 18:16-33) however, when god informed of his intention of murdering abraham’s own only-begotten, innocent son, he simply obeys without any questionings [which he should naturally have done more intensely than he did in the case of unrelated wicked people].. god too acted strangely!

  no introduction of the subject with sufficient reasons.

  Abraham and Lot, although fictional characters, are very good examples of moral decadency. Abraham got to bang his wife's younger and more beautiful hand maid, got to lie about his relationship to Sarah, etc.

  Lot got to bang his 2 daughters and father their illegitimate kids.

  The bible calls Abraham 'god's friend' and Lot a 'righteous man'.

  Yes there are so many of us on this forum that are now in the autumn of our lives. I'm 71 and have the benefit of being able to look back to see to folly of being a jw (or any religion for that matter). Ah yes the circle of life!

  I cannot complain too much because my life has not been racked with too much in the way of extraordinary pain and suffering. However, like so many here, there has been much in the way of unfilled dreams and aspirations that we gave up to be 'good' jw's.

  Life is not over and living happy successful lives for the remainder of what we have left is the truly refreshing and liberating!

  God Cannot Lie, But God's Organization Can?

  in the recently leaked bethel training videos, both speakers state that inappropriate flirting really amounts to lying, as if a person is misrepresenting either his interest or availability to another person romantically.. we are reminded that the bible is very plain in its expressions on lying such as proverbs 12:22 which states it is detestable to god.

  so with the example given here, we must have a very high standard in separating what is truthful from what is not.. with that being the case, it shocks me that bethel would produce a video presented to all in attendance at the 2017 regional convention regarding the early 1970's, essentially rewriting history as to what actually happened.. is misrepresenting your past and misleading millions of followers not a much more extreme case of lying from those who claim to reject any form of lying no matter how small, such as flirting?

  would anyone like to add more examples to this thread?.

  I can't help but think of those 40+ jw's in the Philippines a few years ago that were no doubt praying to jehober when that typhoon hit. WTF, they were inside the Kingdom Hall praying for help when a tidal wave took them to their death. Guess jehober was busy answering the prayers of the gb for more helpers to finish the warwick project

  i’m a 17 year old men boy raised on a very liberal, highly intelectualized jw family.

  currently very anxious on starting medical school at a high ranked public university around here.

  Knowing now what I now know from decades of real life experience as a born-in jw, if I were you i would run like hell now! I had the opportunity to go to college but turned it down to pioneer and give my life to the wtbts. What a fu*king mistake! Decades of chasing the proverbial "dangling carrot".

  Get a life!
