Do they imagine that they have some sort of special powers mandate ?

do elders, or other jws, convince themselves that they have some sort of divine mandate which allows them to walk over the top of people's rights ?

i know some jws who appear to simply do as they please, whether or not it infringes on anyone's privacy, or impacts on their lifestyle, or even their natural rights, and i've read posts here which would indicate that elders in particular may simply enter someone's home uninvited, and worse.

what's your experiences of this imaginary authority?

I find it amazing that after someone is DF'd or they just fall away, that they allow other JWs to dictate to them what rules they should follow. I fell away in 1996 and renounced it in 1998 and I would be DAMNED if I was told by an elder or any other JW that I was not to do this or that and I can't go here or there and I can't to so and so. I would say, "Who the F*CK are YOU to tell ME what I can and can't do?"

I've heard of them coming over to someone's house for a visit and when the person left the room for a moment they started searching his house for stuff to pin on him. They were even accessing his computer looking to see if he had porn on it. I'm sorry but you are in MY HOUSE! You follow MY RULES HERE! Even the police have no rights to do this without a warrent so what the F*CK do you think you're doing?!

But some people allow others to walk all over them. They give people that have no authority full permission to do whatever they please and THAT'S where they get their power from. From the weak. Stand your ground. Get a spine and stick up for your rights as a human and don't let these soul soliciting sobs think they have control over you.

Husband puts off wifes funeral for Elders meeting

while reading minimuses post under "friends" about a sister who kept up auxillary pioneering even though her 5 year old daughter died, it brought to mind a similar story that happened just 2 months ago in a large cong.

an elder serving in that cong.

for many years now, lost his wife to heart complications.

God's protection was lifted huh? Well, I seem to remember reading in the bible how God will not favor one person over another. He doesn't play favorites like that. And that even Job, who was the most faithful person in the world, succomed to lifes problems. Saying that God lifted his protection from you is unscriptural and very very wrong. God says that ALL should be saved. So all should be under his protection. But one person will die and another will not. Does God have a hand in this? NO! And he doesn't have an umbrela of protection over anybody. To do this would be countering the whole reason he allows bad things to happen...to prove Satan wrong.

Why did you get out of JW?

why did all of you guys get out?.

i have a friend who is a jw, and i don't think she is right at all.

do you guys have any convincing arguments on why jw is wrong?

I was in it for about 5 or 6 years. I left because, the more information I absorbed, the more comparisons I could make with that information. After learning so much I began to compare to everything else I had learned and I realized that there were inconsistancies. There were things that they say are wrong to do yet CT Russel and Rutherford did the exact same things at the founding of this crack pot religion. Such as Never rely on your own understanding. They push this alot! But that is exactly what Russel did before he founded the Bible Students: He read the bible as if for the first time, throwing away all knowlege he had been tought before. He gave the bible a fresh insight and relied on his own understanding of it. Yet we arent supposed to?

There were alot of things that didnt jive with me and when I started mentioning these things to other brothers the elders took me in the back room and told me to stop. I asked them, "Why should I? I have questions that need answering and I was asking experienced brothers for their input."

The said I was spreading demonic and apostate thoughts into their heads. I said, "No. I'm thinking independantly and comparing what I've learned to what has been done in the past. And I deman explanations for these inconsistancies." They refused. So I said, "Well, I can rely on my own understanding, which you say is wrong to do, or I can rely on your understanding, but that would require you to answer my questions. So what shall it be? Are you to shirk your responsibilities as so-called spiritual leaders because you fear simple questions or shall you tend to your flock?"

That's where it went downhill and much was revealed during that conversation and a rift opened that would never be closed. I clung on in confusion for a few years after that but I let it go eventually.

i think as time goes on and dna gets understood better and better it will be imposible for fundamental christians to defend thier position against evolution.

kind of like the catholic church going against galileio saying the "earth is not the center of the universe".. "eventually"(maybe not now) to fight against the evidence makes you look very stupid and under heavy mind control.. don't get me wrong i beleive there is a god, and i think he used "gradualism" to create the universe and life, i even feel the first 2 chapter of genesis are discribing a very long drawn out process that took just as evolutionist are telling us, billions of years till finally man appears.. eventually the wt is going to have to change its understanding of genesis to even stay credible..

I didn't mean that they have days and nights. I was refering to whether or not they may have some concept of time and what they would consider a day. They wouldn't have daylight or nighttime as these are physical things. But God and the angels must have some form of perception of time, otherwise how would things be so exactly scheduled? Things are planned, in heaven and on earth. There are activities, events and work that needs to be done. And that work needs to be done by a certain time. And the Bible does say that only God knows the exact time of the end. So he would have to have a concept of time, as would the angels in order to do their preparation work.

Now, just because God and the angels are ageless beings and are immortal and will never die does not mean that time is a useless concept. It is a reality that permiates all dimensions. Einstein once said that time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. If you became immortal that would not change the fact that time flows.

But because they are ageless they have a different perception of time. Haven't you noticed that, as a kid, the days seemed so long and summer vacation never ended? Now summers are over in the blink of an eye? The longer we live the faster time seems to go. Try living for millions of years and see how your concept of a day changes.

i saw numerous plans for a new trade center site, this is the one i loved best.

the tallest spire will be 1776 feet tall, symbolic for the year of american independence.

it features a memorial park 30 feet below street level, and a wedge of light to be shown every september 11 starting at 8:46am when the attacks started in 2001. .

WT Contradiction - Are the other sheep sons of God?

many are familiar with the countless flip flops and contradictions that can be found in the wt publications of the past (for numerous examples of this see http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com).

however, in reading through the jan 15 and feb 15 wt study articles i believe i have found a "modern day" example of a wts contradictory statement.

it pertains to the status of the "other sheep" as sons of god.. __________.

The bible never says anything about there being THREE groups at the end. It says the sheep and the goats... the right and the left. And it says that the sheep inherit the kingdom of God. It doesn't say SOME sheep inherit it. It says THE SHEEP INHERIT IT. It says the goats do not. There is no mention whatsoever of there being a different sheep class during this weeding out process. They ARE making it up as they go along and they misuse the scriptures to prove whatever point they're trying to make at that time. Bastards, every one of them!

Maybe they are starting to get it!!

my jw friend told me there was a part on the service meeting last night, about calling on inactive ones.

we knew that was in the km.

she said the po gave it as a talk, and said there were 15 inactive ones in their territory (we are 2 of them), and that elders had been assigned to call on all of them to encourage them.. but..................he said all those in the congregation can and should call on inactive ones regularly, and truly encourage them.

Man, I hope none of these people are ever in charge of children during any outing! So if there's a lot of kids in the group when they go out do they honestly mean that they won't do a head count before they take off in the car??!! Do they honestly mean that they will not even bother to make sure that they have all the kids in the car and just say, "Well, it's the kid's responsibility to yell if he's lost? And if I don't hear a yell then I'm just gonna leave." ???!!! This is infuriating!

Not to mention the fact that a day can be of different lengths depending on where you are on the Earth! A day can last months in Antarctica while it can last a few hours in the North Pole.
