That is so true AK Jeff, about us having very little in common with j-dub friends and family.
FOr so long I've wanted to repair my relationship with one of my sisters but now I realize there is no point.
I should just keep things as they are with her. As long as I'm not a witness there is nothing really to talk to her about. It's very sad.

My sis calls & says,"Your dead"&"I wish you'd died in a car accident"(long)
by morwen inya know... i'm a bit amazed at times at how utterly out of touch with reality jw's can be.
here's a little bit of a background of what's been going on....
i've been having an on going issue with my jw family about my husband & i(and our 4 young children) no longer going to meetings and us having questions/problems with this religion.we are not df'd nor da'd (at this point) but have not been to a meeting in about 7 months and have been inactive for probably 3-4 years now.we haven't lived near my parents for several years so they have been a little "in the dark" so to speak as to us being inactive but we kinda were given a bit of "lee-way" since 5 yrs.

Shocking Announcement: Society feels Armaggedon coming this year?
by truthseeker ina rumor alert indeed, but it could be related to the distribution of kingdom news no.37, "false religions end is near.".
the following is posted from e-watchman's forum.. make of it what you will, but in light of all the rhetoric about "deliverance at hand" and "independent thinking", nothing would surprise me anymore.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1502&st=0 we posted about an announcement it was only local to our cong.
however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.

I remember DOs saying things like .... this could be our last assembly Jehovah..... blah blah blah.
I know I heard that very often at assemblies when I was active.
They are just trying to scare everyone into submission. Just reading this thread I feel that little panic button go off inside me. And I know better... I can reason with myself. I wonder if that feeling will ever go away completely.
All those poor j-dubs who feel guilty for not living up to WT standards must be freaking out. -

Morwen,
If my oldest sister didn't say almost the exact same things to me (short of disowning me) I probably would think you are exaggerating. Fortunately, she is too "weak" to shun me.
Their mental state is absolutely crazy! When my nice was df'ed my other sister, her mother, told her (While crying hysterically) It would be better if you died.
Unbelievable the things J-dubs say!!!
I'm so sorry I know it must hurt to lose them.... I know your family will bring you much needed comfort. -

daniel sydlik, what a guy!
by dvw inhope this worked.
i thought a memorial was not to be a way to make the deceased the object of adoration.
isnt it supposed to glorify joho and make known the glorious prospect of the ressurection?

I've seen several memorial handouts in the past few years like Sydlik's. Maybe it just depends on the congregation's attitude. It seems to be no big deal here in Southern CA.

Did You Believe "The End" Was Going To Come In Your Lifetime?
by minimus inwhen the society came out in 1966 with the info that 6000 years of man's existence would come to an end by 1975, i thought it was a crock.
for 9 long years, all jws did was speculate about "when" the great tribulation was going to begin.
i always thought of jesus' words about "nobody knowing the day or the hour"----yet jehovah's witnesses figured it out?

I never thought I'd finish High School either. I finished High School in 1994 and have been free of the mind control for about 3 good years now, thanks to everyone here on this board.
I was always afraid of the Big A and was relieved with the "generation" change. I though thank God I have more time to be bad then be good again. LOL
How logical is that!!! That is insane!!! -

Panic attacks and Jehovahs Witness!
by Gill inhow many of you had panic attacks when you were a jw and when leaving?
i know of many jw women and a few men who suffered badly with panic attacks.
since recently having another spate of panic attacks i suddenly realised that i had been having them all my life.
-
sandy
I do have them from time to time. Once in awhile, when I start thinking about the future that is when I'll have one. But fortunately not every time I ponder over my future. Thank God!
For me the attacks are pretty mild. I can always talk myself out of them and make myself busy until I feel better.
In my case I found that the more I educate myself the less fearful I am of the future. As all of you already know, our knowledge as a witness is so limited. -

Thanks for the reply. I just think we are being charged too much for the damage my dog caused. We fixed the gate just the way they asked us to. I'm not trying to get out of paying for it. Again, I just think it should be fair.

Hi @@@@@@,
****** and I received a refund today from you and ********. Thank you., We were expecting copies of any/all receipts or detailed estimates for repairs you made or need to make to the backyard. Please mail us copies as well as pictures you have of the backyard prior to our moving in, pictures you took at anytime while were living there, and any pictures taken during the walk-through.
We understand our dogs caused damage to the backyard but we can't help but feel your charges are exaggerated.
I'm sorry if we have offended you in any way. ****** and I really do want the charges to be fair on both sides. We did just as you asked and repaired the gate and still you are charging us, we feel, unfairly. -
