My ex was a 'truthbaby' but I didn't get involved until I was 24. My parents never discussed God or religion or anything to do with worship. After getting involved with the J-duds my J-dud relatives came out of the woodwork. You'd think I hit the lottery! Turns out my Mother hated the bunch and her J-dud mother-in-law and vowed to let us kids make up are own minds about God. It really upset her and my Dad when I got into that mess. For 25 years they waited and took the crap we were taught to dish out to the 'not dead yet dead family'! They are happy with me now. Why did I, a relatively well educated and successful artist, buy into the J-dud crap? I wanted to believe all the things they taught! I wanted to see the good in things and people. I wanted to believe so much that I overlooked all the lies and BS and crap they dish out. And if my rotten, adulterous, sneaky ex wife had more brains and been more careful I would probably still be in there with the rest of the Big Slow Dummies! Thank You, Gretchen Brown! And Thank You to her stupid new husband, give her three or four years and he'll be on this board posting his sob story! Maverick

This vs That
by animal inwow.. a serious post from animal... who woulda thought..... anyhow, we discussed something last weekend that needs more discussion.
it involves people born into the jw cult versus those that made an adult decision to join it.. my thoughts were:.
anyone not born into the cult have no idea of the mental anguish involved in being brainwashed, from birth, with all the cultisms.

Question I haven't seen yet
by Descender inthis is my first post, i've been reading the board for a few months now and i must say it's rather addicting.
anyway, back to the topic of my post.
i was wondering how many, if any of you went out with a bang, like on a sunday morning meeting while you were giving a talk, or maybe while you were giving a #2 or #4 talk on the ministry school.

Welcome Descender. It would be very satifying to go out with a bang. But I don't think it is so much what the descenders do to the J-duds much as it is what they do to each other that gets honest hearted J-duds thinking. I would have never, ever listened to an 'apostate' when I was a happy J-dud. It wasn't until I took a load of crap when I divorced my goody, truthbaby, adulterous J-dud wife of fifteen years that my eyes were opened... I should send her a Thank You card! Maverick

Funny people in your Congregation
by mattnoel inok so who has got stories about funny people in your cong,.
we had one guy who used to recite really long prayers, you would see people shifting from foot to foot as he recited extracts from the lords prayer in with his, he used to knock on doors and when they didnt answer shout through the letter box saying "i know your home" if they did actually come he would keep them talking for ages even after they said they werent interested.
he even wrote to tony blair and told him how he would die at armageddon, the society recieved a letter of complaint and he got banned from pioneering.

At the Memorial one year this derelict came in and claimed he was somebodies study. We seated him but kept an eye on him. During the meeting he took out a bag of potatoe chips and started eating them! The brothers just looked at him. I had to tell him to put the food away. After the service this guy stood up and as he did he dropped some of his stuff. He then bent over to pick his things up and his pants fell down. He had no underwear on. All the Elders were lined up by the wall near the door helping people leave and this character mooned us all! The look on everyone faces was priceless! Maverick

A long and dusty roadÂ… paved with lies!
by MacHislopp in*how does the governing body differ froml a legal corporation?
(b) what were the members of the governing body doing, and under whose guidance?
this was evidently under the guidance of jehovahs invisible active force or holy spirit.

As with all attempts at justifying current positions, the Society mix disjointed and inconsistant timelines with Gods invisible direction. It is like claiming God is happy with us because the Sun is shining and God is blessing us because it is raining! The Society use Jesus and Jehovah as hold cards to legitimize anything that has no basis in reality. They operate like a business that does not want anyone to be able to see the whole corporate structure. What you don't know can't hurt them. And they throw down terms like God's Organization and Truth as obstacles to confuse the lack of those very things! The really sad thing is these goobers believe their own fiction and insist everyone else does as well. Didn't L. Ron Hubbard do the same thing? Maverick

Baptism Nullification Endgame
by Maverick inwell the governingbodygod has added a new twist to my bn letter.
they are not contesting my stand that i was never a baptized member.
but they have decided to treat me as if i was an unbaptized publisher.

Thank you for your imput. I do recall that they use to announce that, so and so no longer wished to be known as one of Jehovahs Witnesses. I heard that many times in twenty two years. But if the person was not baptized they left out any mention of Jehovahs Witnesses. I raised quite a stink by sending out hundreds of copies and contacting DF'd friends and calling the PO and CO some very unkind things. And I know they wanted to DF me for Apostacy but the CO told them to just say what they did and nothing more. I have inside people that keep me up to date. I also have the annoucement recorded. You are very right in saying I am DA'd. But it was not a slam dunk for the Elders by any means. Maverick

Elders' kids - special treatment?
by starfish422 init seems to be the opinion of some on this board that elders' kids received special treatment, weren't punished for their wrongdoings, etc.. as the daughter of the po in our small congregation, let me tell you that it was much harder for me than for the kids of those who weren't elders.
our family was expected to be the "model family for displaly purposes" and we were held up to very high standards so that we didn't "stumble" anyone.
at times i wished my dad wasn't an elder so that i could have a bit more freedom.

In over twentytwo years of association and sixteen of those years as a member of the servant body I can not count the times an Elder would plead for his offspring not to be dealt with too harshly. I suspect many Elders aided these ones just in case they might be in a similar situation in the future. One case, the last one before I did the dodge, the father was a very prominent Elder and his son, an MS, has sex with the kids best buddies wife. She, being the daughter of an Elder and the buddy being another MS. This girl did both of the mans sons!( She had sex with the older son two years before. He is now an Elder.) All of them being in the same Hall. This was the boys', age 30, third time getting caught. His own wife of ten years said '"that's it" and divorced him. Nobody got DF'd. The son was reproved and went to Europe and got involved with a worldly woman and married her and brought her back home. Two years later she doesn't go to the meetings but he is an MS again! In my old Hall the saying was' "If your the son of and Elder or married to an Elders daughter you can get away with murder!" Maverick

Mulan: Thank you for your input, I always enjoy your posts. You have a very down to earth no BS approach. Dedalus has a similar style, and though I don't always agree I do think about whatever he writes all day. But In this case I wonder if the DA'ing is the same? They did not DF me for apostacy. They did not contest the BN. What if a person made some minor changes in the BN letter addressing their status as an unbaptized publisher and insisting that an announcement be made that they no longer wish to be known as an unbaptized publisher of the good news? Based on the precendent the GB has set by not contesting the BN and their own stated arrangement outlined in the 1988WT quoted above, would not the person just 'be of the world'? I know in practical terms most pinhead J-duds will not get it and will shun the person. But it would be interesting to see them undo their own mess! I value your and all the members of this post thoughts on this. Maverick

I fantasize the look on their smug, arrogant faces when, if ever, they realize it was all just a lie and they have been worshipping the GB in Brooklyn. The Big Slow Dummies, (BSD)! Maverick
