When I lived in Long Beach this old brother got up to give the Closing Prayer and started with, "Please, Jehovah forgive us for our fallin' shorts!" I didn't hear the rest of the prayer, and either did anyone else! Maverick

Wacko Talks
by gitasatsangha inshare one of the odder/funnier talks you've heard (where the manuscript went out the window, along with any degree of decorum, preferably).
one time a brother had a 15 minute part and he spoke very calmly and relaxed.
he smiled all the time, but the part seemed aimless.

April 2003 KM: ``Mind Your Manners in Public"
by Room 215 innow that it's dispensed with its annual ``don't you dare partake" in advance of their spring travesty of a communion, the faithful and discreet slave shifts its focus to another seasonal perennial: the km's recurrent exhortation to ``mind your manners at this summer's district conventions.
by ``connecting the dots" between the leadership's admonition to mind one's manners at the hotel, to tip approriately, to avoid ``double-dipping'' by eating and then loading up on unapproved takeaways for lunch at hotels that prvide complimentary breakfast, to refrain from losing all inhibitions in after-hour socializing and to forego the donning of outlandish skin-tight (or conversely loose fitting ``hip-hop" outfits) forte duration of the assembly, a picture quite different from the idealized notion of jws being a worldwide fraternity of solidly mature, temperate ministers who lives find fulfilment only in the service of god and their fellow man.. what sort of adults need to be lectured in such terms, let alone a group that boasts of its aloofness from satan's world?
what does it suggest about leadership's awareness of how far removed from reality the rank and file is from their literature's stylized imagery?

Dear Blondie: I used to list my name as Brother Profound on my lapel card. The PO was not amused, but I kept it on anyway. I got laughs from the duds that knew me and weird looks from everyone else.
I was always amazed that God's people did not know how to act in public places. This is part of the fall-out from a high control closed society. Like private school children who run amuck on the weekends when they were out of their structured environment. Maverick

Dear LP_gurl: There is no chemistry were there is no contact. The net, like any other form of communication is to set up the meet. A few E-mails, set up some kind of meeting or let in go. Bottom line it all. Anything other that a firm yes, is NO! Don't fantasize, you have too little information. You have time on your side, take it. This kid is a dud! You can do better. I don't mean to be blunt, but I tell you the same thing I tell my eighteen year old! I wish you a long and happy life. Maverick

I wonder if the web site lets you write your own comments or if they give you a list to pick from? I bet they edit everything. Be nice to join and have a comment like; Tired of the pencil necked, pale skinned, 40 year old momma's boys? Getting sick of the crap at the K-Hall? Join me and have the time of your life for once. Let's do Vegas! Only the very horny need respond! I'm sure I'd get some hits! Maverick

What happens to old worn out Kingdom Halls?
by gitasatsangha inseems like there are differnet tier's of kindgom halls.
the old hall i went too was orginally supposed to be large house, iirc.
when our congregation outgrew it, it was sold to a company next door that build coffins and caskets.

As the Account Servant, (and local remodeling contractor) in two different Halls that went through growing pains I am familiar with some of the upgrades. Both were sold to churches is the area. Funny how the J-dud masters tell you it is bad to work for Christendom but it is OK for the 'Brotherhood" to profit from selling property to them. And both these Halls were pits! Duct tape and bailing wire fixeups! I know the buyers got burned in both deals! People should know that if Witnesses are selling a building it is a rat infested, dump. They are so cheap they will keep a building until it is worthless and the CO comes and tells them to get their act together and look for a new site.
I stopped bringing my work vehicles to quick-builds because the 'friends' thought nothing of opening up the back, climbing in, and walking around to check out my tools and borrowing anything they wanted. I'd spend half an hour rounding up my tools at the end of the day. Ten year olds would be hammering rocks and playing with my $ 25 framing hammers! Boy, don't get me started on the K-Halls! Maverick

WT.3/1/2003.Trusting in Jehovah means trusting those whom he trusts.
by Blueblades in.
the picture on page 18 shows five elders intently reading some verses in the bible.the one at the head is seemingly reviewing those scriptures with the others.three of them are taking notes, one is not ,he is eye -- balling the other one.. do the elders trust each other?
page 17 par.17 trusting in jehovah means trusting in those whom he trusts.example:the fds.the elders who are appointed by holy spirit.by cooperating with the elder arrangement in the congregation,we also show that we trust in jehovah.. trust:a firm belief or confidence in the honesty, integrity, relliability, justice, etc.of another person or thing.. with few exceptions the fds.and its appointed elders do not measure up to the meaning of trust.as the record shows, and painfully so,that many have suffered harm for misplacing their trust in such ones.. blueblades (who does not trust them any more and according to them that means that i don't trust god either.how do they know whom i trust?

What a circle jerk! The FDS really put on a show! They step right up and infer they have God's trust and so should the RF. I knew a lot of Elders in 23 plus years on the inside and only a handful were trustworthy. I worked in their homes and saw the real men behide the masks and it wasn't pretty! Maverick

by danb71 inafter having looked at this site for almost a year and recently made small replies to threads, i should introduce myself to you all and tell you how i got here:.
i was raised as a jw.
it didn't take long to figure out that to have more independence at home, i'd better be a stand-out jw.

When a JW Comes to My Door?
by JamesThomas ina resent thread has got me thinking.
the question is: when a jw comes to my door what reaction of mine would have the best chance of motivating that person to ponder or question their beliefs?
what will help them open, rather than shut down and fortify their shell of exclusivity?

A new poster, awhile back, made a comment that I felt would have got me thinking when I was a J-dud. She said at one door this person told her in a very kindly way that in time she would outgrow this religion. I liked that and think I would use that if given the chance. I know I make a lot of smart ass comments but I don't think I would mistreat a dud, unless it was one of those pieces of s--t fellow Elders and Sevants I knew personally! Maverick
