Insider reviews of WT publications allowed?
by BornFree inok so i've never been a jw, so i don't have insider experience with this, so let me know what you think.... an aquaintance of mine is an ms in his local congregation, and he recently told me about a "review" that he did of a newly published wt brochure (i don't recall exactly which brochure it was as there are so many stinking borchures...and who cares anyway).
i asked him what the purpose was of "reviewing" the thing, and he told me that the wt always asks for input on their new material.
so he read the brochure, i.e.

Intelligence

There is a lot of controversy as to how intelligence should be measured. Some of the standard tests do have cultural bias. Example; a hat is to a head as a cup is to a... and they give you four choices...car, tie, knife, saucer. The answer is saucer. But inner city, less affluent people simply would not know this. It is outside their social exposure. Ask them to match up hudcaps or navigate the NY subway system and they would 'ace' those problems, where someone from the suburbs would be lost.
Also emotional intelligents is being considered with great interest. As a member of Mensa, how these tests are factored and scored is a concern. Membership is based solely on scoring in the top 2% of the general population. Many academics dismiss the whole concept of a High IQ Society. Claiming it is purely ego driven. I am sure ego does play a part. Some members join just to add membership to their resumes, or the plaque to their ego wall. I joined for personal validation. And it is nice to have people I can talk to about things that interest me, like quanta. As a J-dud if I started talking about Elementary Particle Physics at a Witness picnic with fellow duds they just looked at me like I was nuts. Now, at a Mensa RG or picnic, if I bring up Inertial Reference Frames or Planck's Quantum Hypothesis I get some feedback. But I digress, The problem of measured intelligence will not be settled anytime soon. Maverick

Hey Mary, it might have been that, to the guys, you seemed more attainable. They might have been terrified of the 'babe'! I have some drop-dead gorgeous lady friends that say their looks can hurts them with decent guys. Tens are high-maintenance, sevens are more fun! Maverick

Please forgive my bluntness...but how stupid are you? This girl has no integrity, non, zero! She cheated to be with you, she will cheat on you. She lied to have you, she will lie to you. Bottom line this all, my friend. She should have an 'L' tatooed on her forehead. Don't come to America and become a Whimpus Americana! Give her the flick and run like hell. Also figure out why you let yourself get it this mess in the first place. I'm done ranting. I have to go shoot something now...this pissed me off! Maverick

22 year old women and 28 year old men...know everything!?!?
by Maverick init has come to my attention, in the last few years, that whenever i'm at a gathering two groups stand out.
22 year old ladies and 28 year old guys.
if a young lady starts to discuss her current life and she has a tone of certainty, conviction, and passion i will ask her if she is 22ish.

If a young lady starts to discuss her current life and she has a tone of certainty, conviction, and passion I will ask her if she is 22ish. And she usually is. If a man is telling his outlook on life and he too has passion, conviction and an air of arrogance, when I inquire of his age...28ish is the usual answer. Has anyone else seen this? As a man in his late forties, (who looks like he's in his low 30's) I am certain of a lot LESS than I was at 28.
As further proof of my point, at my ten year High School reunion everyone was trying to impress each other and out drink and brag, everyone else. At my twenty year reunion, nobody gave a shit about any of the stuff we were trying to prove ten years earlier. We had way more fun. My 'thirty' comes up this year. Be interesting to see how that one goes. Maverick

Blondes are over rated. I really don't like Black or Hispanic women with blonde hair, too freaky for me. My ex was a redhead who colored her hair blonde and my daughter is a blonde who color her hair red...go figure! Maverick

Your evaluation of JWD

how would you evaluate this forum?

It is relatively easy to navigate. I like the inbox option. I would like to see the number of 'hits' when using the members directory. It would be nice to be able to punch in the thread number to look up any past thread without having to scroll back to find it. And Simon if there are ways to do these things where do I find out how?
