Disassociating myself ...
by dedalus inwell, it had to come to this eventually.. this winter my wife and daughter and i celebrated christmas with my in-laws, with whom we currently live (high school english teachers don't make much money!).
my in-laws have been inactive for about two years, and this year, they decided to celebrate the holidays.
one reason for this is that their son, who is eight, has multiple disabilities -- can't see, trouble hearing, other, quite sever, issues -- and christmas, with its presents and wrapping and loud carols and trees and wreaths is, well, a very accessible experience for him, the way, say, my kingdom ministry and the watchtower are not.. well, as a household we went all out.

Diminished Morality as Proof???
by confuzcious intoday a couple of elders came by and told me that "diminished morality" is proof that those who leave the truth have lost jehovah's favor.
that is, when they were in the truth, they were all chaste, etc.
but now that they are out of the truth that they don't hold the same high standards of morality.

Xena you put it right on the head. These Elders should take a good look at their own house. Ms wife swapping, Elders writting bad checks and short changing witness employees. Elders wives who gossip and stab each other in the back. Elders kids "get out of jail free" double standard. Butt kissing servant want-a-bes. Dear Marcos: You sound like a radical after my own heart. Please check out the Baptism Nullification letter in this post and give me your thoughts. Having these guys show up at my door or call me on the phone to an accounting by telling me to meet with them carries the same weight as having my neighbors lawn man tell me I need to explain myself and my actions! Hey wait! The PO is my neighbors lawn man! My cat has more compassion, ( and greater intelligence ) than that character does. CO Visit

sadly i was not paying much attention to his talk and by the time he got to something interesting i wished i was listening.. he was babbling on about identifying a "pattern" and how the jw's have a pattern of identifying the truths (trininty, hell, etc).
it got interesting when he bgean to say dont worry about the mistakes made, we have a pattern of truth and these mistakes should be ignored (my paraphrase).

Are there only two ways out of the WT World?
by Maverick inwe are told we can quit (dissassociate) or get kicked out ( dissfellowshipped), but are these the only options we have?
while you cannot stop people from acting a certain way around you there may be a way to take to power away from the society and give it back to the people who love you and know it their hearts that shunning in unloving.

It would be good to remember the CO's real purpose in the WatchTower world. He is a corporate inspector general whose function is to make sure corporate policy is being followed to the letter and to confirm that they are getting their cut. New appointees must have the corporate stamp of approval. He is their eyes and ears on the local level. He is instructed how to respond to any issues that arise. I knew one who "lived" for Mondays so he could play golf, which he did, all day! The corporation is laying down a smokescreen to CYA on this horrible situation of abuse. Maverick

I agree that taking action in this case does add closuer. And whether it is baptism nullification, disassociation or letting them disfellowship you is a personal choice. Fading-away can work for a time.It is nonconfrontational. It acts as a stepping stone that leaves the door open for the slave to run back to his master. Even a wicked one like the GB looks comforting to a person who has been institutionalized. It does make closure a little nebulous. But hey if you move to Australia or someplace like that it is probably enough! Why should a person have to hide? To wonder or worry about this poor bunch of sheep. They are the ones who are the slaves and they admit it! We are not the apostates. Do any of you claim to be God's only channel on Earth. Do any of you insert loyalty to you as proof of loyalty to God and His Son? Would you help and render aid to any slave if you saw he was in need? Do whatever it takes to free yourselves of the control you allowed yourselves to be put under. And yes dadalus, we allowed yourselves to be controlled. We cannot blame it on anyone else.
