Spying On Your Kids
by rocketman inon last night's installment of 20/20, there was a segment that dealt with parents who use modern technology to spy on their children.
one dad used a gps installed in his car to track the movements of his daughter.
another dad installed spyware in his computer and monitored the e-mails and im chats of his daughter.

Why do people go back after being DFed?
by Lady Lee ini was reading swordofjah's post about a young lady who went back after 8 months and got reinstatedthis past tuesday, a young sister (21 years old) was reinstated after 8 months.
she was always very nice and upbeat, but made a few wrong turns in her life.
i talked to her a bit after the meeting and she was telling me that before being disfellowshipped she had been consumed by her actions, just didn't feel any joy in serving jehovah.

Why do some criminals commit crimes just so they can go back to jail? So people are very insecure and need to hide under someone or something they feel is more powerful than they are. Maverick

"New light" on Independant thinking?
by figureheaduk ini've just been reading an article on the jwmedia site about a study into wt literature that has been ordered by a russian court.. http://www.jw-media.org/newsroom/index.htm?content=/region/europe/russia/english/releases/religious_freedom/rus_e030523.htm.
it goes into the usual wt waffle about the persecution and harrassment of jws, religious freedom etc, but the following quote caught my eye:the study also revealed a much higher level of education among jehovah's witnesses (when compared with that of the average muscovite), which tends toward independent rational thinking and decision-making.
now, this would give joe public that the average jw is therefore able to think for himself, and reach his own conclusions independantly.

When a person gets baptized they should be given blinders and ear plugs and instructions on when to take them off, (only at the meetings.) Maverick

Each situation is different. I cannot speak for any other parent. But for my daughter trust IS an issue. I do not go in her room or read her E-mail or open her personal mail or any personal letters she has. I travel a lot, ( I am 1200 miles away right now). She runs the house and has for the last 3 years when I am gone. She has stepped up to this challenge. I have let her go to Europe and travel from Australia by herself. At 18 I think she is way ahead or most kids her age.
In summery, I believe our children get a lot of their identity from what we as parents project to them. Trust them and they will live up to it. They will slip or make stupid choices, but so do we. Maverick

You left because you outgrew the control filled lifestyle. She was put out as a part of their control policy. You are totally different places. You were better off talking to the wall. You have real love, she has real fear. Nice try anyway. Maverick

Watching an elder sh*t in his pants... priceless.
by confuzcious incable modem and monthly service charge - $39.95.. paperback copy of ray franz "crisis of conscience" - $19.95.. watching an elder sh*t in his pants... priceless.. one thing i learned is that elder's hate to look bad in front of the c.o.. after numerous attempts to ask the c.o.
for a shepharding call to go over injustices in the congregation, i finally ran into the c.o.
while having his 11:00 coffee break with the congregation.. till then, the elders would stone wall everytime i would ask for a shepharding call from the c.o.

Glad you had your say with the CO. Don't be surprised if nothing is done. He will shine you on and may not even check on anything you told him. CO's are Masters of BS! They have no problem stabbing you in the back or labeling you a malcontent. Maverick

I got one around my left arm, same side as the wedding ring, when my J-dud wife left. It was barbed-wire, broken. It symbolised being free from slavery. Little did I realized how enslaved I was! Maverick

Of Precious Promises and A Corporate God
by metatron inonce, i knew an elderly member of the anointed in bethel.
sometimes he carried an old king james bible with him that had.
certain passages highlighted with a purple marker.. he said those verses were "precious promises" - personal statements jesus made to him, in effect.. he came from a generation that read a different watchtower - one that had personal poetry about god and jesus christ.. - a generation that might not recoil from calling jesus "lord" in casual conversation, as early christians did.. .

Well written Met. I agree fully with your thesis. I used that very line of reasoning in my Baptisum Nullification Letter. I felt it was a bait and switch. The Elders are middle managers, and the CO's are merely corporate inspectors making sure the rank and file punch the numbers correctly. Love is a catch word without any real force or influence. It is perfunctory, heartless and lifeless, like a machine. Maverick

"You disfellowship yourself - cop out..."
by confuzcious ini was talking to an elder today and called him on several points.. one of the points was that the org disfellowships people for unscriptural reasons.. i gave examples of a gambler (yes, the bible talks about greediness, but it's silent on gambling.
) being involved in boxing.
etc.. anyway, he said that, "well it's not the organization that disfellowships... but in actuality, the persons disfellowship themselves.. what is your guys response???.

This is another example of the separating of oneself from responisbility for the cruel actions one takes. Just like their J-dud masters the elders pass the blame off on the 'victim' of their abuse! The ones who ran a foul with the Org. did it to themselves. Who sets up the whole scenario? Why, the J-dud masters do! But the result is not their fault? BS! Cowards and hypocrites! Maverick
