A taste of the 'srange'! I can understand why a women might be attracted to someone from a different culture...challenge, mystery, not boring! I like women with accents and different backgrounds. The Female British speech is really quite delicious! Go where your heart leads you. Maverick

U.S. Women Like Brit Men Better
by GinnyTosken inthis just in from the globe weekly tabloid of july 29, 2003:.
it's not just stars like gwyneth paltrow, madonna, gillian anderson, liv tyler, and gwen stefani--british guys are many american gals' cup of tea.. "british men are more articulate, mature, and sophisticated," says cary cooper, a university of manchester (england) psychologist, who isn't entirely biased since he was born in hollywood and has citizenship of both the u.s. and the u.k. he adds that british men are better listeners and pay more attention to their women, while u.s. men are too juvenile.. "british men also invest more in a relationship and are more emotional," cooper says.. "american men are good at talking about emotion, but really that's all it is, talk.".
speaking of talk, might those sexy accents have something to do with it?.

Howcome the WTS does not include personal testimonies...
by jgnat inhowcome the wts does not include personal testimonies in their meetings (i mean, ones that have not been edited by the writing department)?
oftentimes when i am preparing for an instructional course, i go looking for a sample completed form.
in order that my students are not led astray, i try and find the perfect sample.

Remember this is a big corporation. Image and packaging is everything! All aspects of their presentation has to be sliced, diced, buffed and polished to fit their target market. The WatchTower is very slick, they employ misdirection and guile as well as any insurance company ever did! And like an insurance company they provide no tangible product just a feeling of security. Unlike an insurance company you can't file a claim and they will never pay up. They don't want anyone deviating from their sales formual. They wrote a pitch book, you follow it or you are out of the company! Personal testimonies are just too unpredictable. Maverick

The Incredible Hulk
by peacefulpete inwhose imagination is not stirred by the idea of having superhuman strength?
stories like the hulk delighted me as a boy and still excite me today.
(cheesy computer animation aside) .

There does seem to be a deep need for super-heros. I remember as a child lifting big blocks of snow and pretending I was super-strong and they were stones. All cultures have tales of men and women doing wonderous things to save their people. People who rise above the ordinary, overcome the odds, and succeed. We have sports figures and action actors who get very rich satisfying this need! Maverick

JWD Analyst get on my ti**
by Brummie inwhy do people come along and try to analyse all the posters here?
always reffering to the "many" or the "majority" and swiping them off as being thick or stupid?
its sounds like they are saying: "their posts are not as interesting & deep as mine are they?

Hey Brummie, love the kittie! I agree some lurkers may not post out of fear of being slammed. Every one is at different places. I know I am slowly moving away from the hard-core J-dud crap and more to the lighter stuff. I love a lively interchange. The ladies here are tough and take no prisoners! What a pleasure that is from the dull, dud, dingalings! Maverick, Keep the anti-faith my furry friend!

Do the Elders know about this?
by meadow77 in.
what kind of an example are we setting for young witness girls regarding modesty?
i personally think she looks nice, although maybe she should try for some darker colors; but because of her jw affiliation, it justs makes one stagger at the double standards.

First off I think the Williams Sisters have done a lot for women's tennis. As for the outfit, well, she IS young and from Southern Calif. I lived in North Long Beach for six years and went to a Hall not very far from where the girls grew up. My ex is a Calif Red Head. The J-duds in Florida used to call the Left Coasters JWW's,( Jehovah's Wild Witnesses!) I have a lady friend who is a dead ringer for Venus Williams and I think they are major babes. Big, strong, RICH! Puts no fear in me. Time to get my mountian climbing gear out!!!! Maverick

all sex and nothing to show for it!!!!!!!!!!
by petespal2002 inreading the thred on vasectomy got me musing; if we were put on earth to populate it, and given sex organs purely for this purpose, what about all the jw's who 'sacrifice' having a family so they can 'do more' in the service.
would it not be improper to use your sex organs purely for pleasure, or do they give up having sex as well?

The tread on having children got me thinking about birth control and its role in the borg. After my daughter was about a year old we tired to have another child. Thinking it would be good for our daughter to have a brother or sister. My wife and I both came from large families. The idea of having an 'only' did not sit well with us. Things went well with this pregnancy until the very end and the child died. We had a name for her and everything! We were so dishearted we said not again! I got a vasectomy. I never told the brothers, I was under the impression is was a very bad thing for a brother to do. I was an MS at the time. It was OK for a married sister to get fixed but for a man not to be "like God" and pass life to the women was a dishonor....What a bunch of do do! Years later my wife wanted more kiddies. She ended up married to a guy with two boys! My daughter baby sits them. Maverick

I remember that when my daughter was born in 1984 we took a lot of flack for foolishly having a child so close to the end! I have never, ever regretted her birth. Maverick
