While I was traveling this past month, (25000 miles in five weeks), I flew to Las Vegas and spent the first week of July there with my favorite, and now only girlfriend. We had never been there before. What a great place! We stayed at the Luxor and hit every casino on the strip, saw shows, toured the Hoover Dam, rode all the rides, went clubbing every night until at least three AM, and slept about ten hours in five days! I'd go back in a New York minute! I liked it better than Paris and I had a great time there. I promished to take my girl back to Las Vegas for our honeymoon! She said she would hold me to it. Anyone else have a fun time in Vegas? Mav

Bad Dates?
by simplesally inran across these experiences and thought they were funny:monica, 40, knew she wasn't interested in a guy she met at a speed dating event by the end of the date.
"he insisted twice on cracking my back after our goodbye hug," she says, noting she declined his offer for a back adjustment and a second date.
sheryl, 32, was thrilled when a hunky jock asked her out to a dinner theater.

If You Could've Remained A JW & Not Be Shunned In Any Way, Would You?
by minimus inif the society decided to not shun persons who were weak, who disagreed or who simply didn't go to meetings and field service, would you still be a jw?
the catholics have all sorts of rules and regulations that should be obeyed yet if one doesn't abide by the law, they are generally never excommunicated.
if the witnesses decided to "just be there" for the "brotherhood", i'll bet that many would not be on this site.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 7-18-04 WT Study
by blondie in(not christians or witnesses of jesus).
.and it was first in antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called christians.
and then when other nations began to study with us, we were called international bible students.

Thank you Blondie!
Boy are you right, what a load of guilt ridden bulge water! Have they no shame? They offer nothing of encouragement, everything they state is designed to make the RF feel bad. The witlesses are made to feel like they are not doing enough, are good for nothing, and should be grateful their masters even take the time to try to help them. They are encouraged to compare their efforts with some one armed, half-blind, 85 year old diabetic on a $100 a month pension who places 800 mags and conducts 5 bible studies a month! Good thing God is all powerful because of the shear burden of dealing with all these worthless drones! Mav

This happened to my daughter last night. Her ex boyfriend called 27 times, 6 on her home phone, 21 times on her cell phone. He also left four voice messages saying things like, "I'm looking forward to going back to school and screwing chicks like I did when we were dating." He also left three text messages on her cell phone with the same kind of tone. The girl was in tears. I got him one time on the phone and reverted back to my gangster past making references to putting a lead projectile inside his cranium! We filed a police report, turns out they knew him well! Between me having to call the police on one of my girlfriends last month and this incident last night, it makes you wonder if there are any sane people out there? Mav

Jehovah's Witnesses really are JERKS
by roybatty invery early this morning i was driving to work.
i live out in the country so usually it's rare to see anyone walking down the road esp.
at 6:30 in the morning.

You did the right thing. You took the high road. He was acting like the god he worships, petty, small and weak. You can only control how you act, not the other person. Remember the good Samaritan? This Nit-Witness acted like one of the Jews, you did not, good for you! Mav

Elder visits after disassociating?
by davidsf ini heard that after a jw has been disfellowshipped, elders will still periodically visit the person, once a year?, to see if his situation has changed and might be interested in studying again.
my question is, what if a jw disassociated himself?
some elders i have been avoiding for 10+ years discovered where i live and tried to visit me.

Look, why are giving them so much power over you? They are just a bunch of confused, misguided, nit-witnesses. They have no real knowledge, just that crap they are fed by the WTS. Have fun with them if they are dumb enough to show up. Smile and welcome them in and tell them how proud you are that they have come to their right minds and see the foolishness of the WatchTower World, and offer to help with their deprogramming! They will run away as fast as they can! They are frightened, little idiots, make them fear you, not the other way around! Mav They won't even work my street!

Aug 1 WT says Rutherford "Strong yet Humble"
by trumangirl ini just had to post this quote from a box on the first study article - "jehovah reveals his glory to humble ones".
august 1st 2004.. strong yet humble.
at the 1919 cedar point, ohio, usa, convention of the bible students (known today as jehovah's witnesses), 50-year-old j f rutherford, who was then overseeing the work, gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carying luggage and escorting conventioners to their rooms.

Four legs are better than two, four legs are beeter than two. Two legs are better than four.
I wonder how many of those 7,000 are still alive and grateful for hearing Judge Rimpots life giving words? Mav

Interesting line of reasoning Con, but may I ask a few questions?
This whole religious order is based on a lie so why would you expect them to honor truth?
The WTS, as a whole, discredit Jesus and his Father, so why do you expect any of them to act in a manner contrary to that dishonor?
Are you looking for validation, why look for it from a group whose whole purpose is to invalidate the individual and strip the personality from said individuals?
Would not your life's energy be better served by walking away from this? They cannot let you win, they are so small and petty that they are incapable of concession. They would rather stubbornly embrace the lie than admit they are mistaken.
I wish you peace, Mav

Great stuff Viv, though my daughter would argue that Buddhism is a philosophy and not a religion. As for me I don't give a rats behind what catagory you put it in. mav
