  Interesting question Min. I liked your comment about validation. I must confess that when ever I feel I have things together something or someone comes along and shows me how little I know about myself and how others view me. You are right about not looking for validation from others. Most people would not give it to you even if they knew how. Most people have way too much insecurity to give something they crave to someone else.

  As for me...the older I get, the less I know, and I'm not too happy about THAT fact.

  Don't let the race thing play too large a role in your relationship. It took me four years to get my mind around this one lady because of that issue. You know what I learned? I wasted four years! I am a short. older, white guy and she is a tall, beautiful, black woman. She is the best thing that ever happened to me. You are not the first person to have to overcome the race situation. Many have done so before you, and been successful! I wish you both peace and happiness. Mav

  Can former "significant others" work together?

  about a year ago i started attending meetings of my college newspaper and soon became romantically involved with a staff member.

  she -- "h." -- was the first real girlfriend i had ever had, being a "good jw" before this.

  we went out for a few months, had gobs of ecstatic sex and otherwise did not get along at all (strange, isn't it?).

You do a superb job of cutting through the Borg bull, but I still couldn't read it all. This bunch in New York are so delusional as to be pitiable! I don't know how you do it?   Where do you find spiritual fulfillment now?

  hey everyone.. i've been "out" for about six months now, fully enjoying life for the first time in a very long time.

  part of my joy comes from the freedom i now have to explore other spiritualities.. i will say, though, that since leaving i've felt something lacking in my life.

  not because i regret my decision to leave.

  A friend will tell you what you need to hear not just what you want to hear. A friend will ask you to explain some thing they noticed and give you the benefit of the doubt. They would believe in their heart they misunderstood any perceived bad intention on your part. A friend will leave you alone when you need space but never leave your side when you need comfort. A friend will cheer your good fortune without jealousy, and be loyal and defend you when others try to hurt you. A friend who knows you are inperfect but sees past it to all you offer. This is what being a friend means to me. Mav

  That was great information on the Tax Exempt Status! I would remove the Property Tax Exemption from all churches! Why should my tax dollars subsidies a religion I do not support? These religious groups interfere with the political process and try to impose their beliefs and standards on the public at large but decry any attempted reinbursment for the social services they enjoy at that same publics expense. Road maintenance, fire and police protection all are paid for with property tax monies that these churches do not pay for. Some of the most valuable real estate is not on the tax roles and the difference is paid for by the citizenry.

  Just as the government is not to interfere with the churches let the churches not interfere with the governed! Let's truly keep Church and State separate! Mav
