When I was married, I used to carry a picture of my, very beautiful, young, So. Cal. Redhead wife in my briefcase. When people saw her picture they always commented in a surprised manner that I had a very beautiful wife! It used to piss me off! Know why? this is really for the guys, but i know the woman here will have some great insights for us stupid men so i hope y-all will offer up your best.. when the woman i am with starts to tear up or cry i feel totally helpless and useless.

I must have been reading posts from a parallel universe! I thought everyone gave great feedback. I saw no personal attacks on anyones feelings or views. I teased LT, but only because I consider him very wise, and mature enough to know I was teasing. jwbot, robdar,sheila, SP, and all the other great ladies who offered their feelings have my respect and appreciation. As I said there are no right or wrong views, we feel how we feel and unlike the WTS's cap on this, those feelings are valid! Even mordenukboy has a right to express his views, and if he read my little cracks about the WTS it may give him food for thought.
You have all been great, and I am humbled by the responses and the interest.

i am an non-active jw for abaout a year, and during my inactivity i had grown a goatee (a beard at first).
my family were no to happy about it,but made no big stink.
one of my closest friends insists it is very bad.
They have no official policy. They will pull any "privileges" you have.
I was a MS and got fed up with the lack of love and the BS at my Hall. I left for one month, 30 days. No one came looking for me. I came back with a beard. Not one of those chichen-sh*t men said a word to my hairy face! I kept the beard for six weeks. I was not allowed to read at book study or the WatchTower even though I was on the list and was scheduled to do so. I had Service Meeting parts and a Bible Highlights. My name was crossed off and another MS's name was penciled over it. When I shaved the beard off, the Elder in my book study asked me to read. My reply, "I'm the same man I was last week. If I couldn't read last week, I'll not read now!" The coward said OK and asked someone else. He never said a word to me about it after the meeting. I knew they were full of crap then and started to fade. Mav

Ballistic, your example is a valid one on the "male crying exception". As a concerned friend you saw that he needed to cry, you knew the circumstance involved. I was talking about a group of men who may be pals or workmates and know the crying guy, but not that well. Guys I hung with in construction, the gym, or gangs, would not deal with the wuss! When my dog died my Aussie buddy hung in there with me for three days. My gun toting pals would have capped me! Mav

jwbot, you took the words out of my mouth! Mr Mordenukboy has very quaint, sweet, and idealized concepts, but as a man that has been in many relationships, married for 15 years AND raising a daughter, (now 20) my reaction was ...."Say What?"
Sounds like a lot of the happy-crap the WTS feeds the flock! I have not met many, "weaker vessels"! When it comes to anything to do with relationships, men are neophytes!

i just wanted to ask some of you a question.
i have been meeting with a jw woman for 4 months now.
i've asked her several difficult questions, and shown her a few things about the wt and their lies- including the letter from the un's website that confirmed they were an ngo for 9 years.
The programming is very effective. If someone started to talk trash about my beloved Troof I would shut down and extract myself from the situation. The cracks come from within, rarely from outside. It would be better for you to pass on having this woman come to you. Tell her, if and when she wakes up, she is welcome to visit. Mav
